Chapter 485-2 ‘Grand Market’ Final Day (Part II)

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

”You know, the lord here is… that Heroic Swordsman, right? I think they should perform a play about the adventures of Sir Elberhardt the Hero!”

I hear it’s one of the popular performances in the Royal Capital.

”Speaking of which, Ms. Leona brought the dwarf band, didn’t she? I heard they’re moving to Raetia.”

As I talk, I recall that sexy, provocative dance performed by the band centered around the elf dancer.

”If that’s the case… will a theater open here too?”

Meluda says this as she snatches my hand away from Aluda.

Aluda briefly looks surprised, “Huh!?” but then sighs and grins, conceding the spot.

”So… is there anything you want?”

 ”””I want clothes!”””

The 3 of them respond in unison to my question.

”Then, let’s head to the street where there are plenty of clothing shops.”

We walked together toward the bustling area filled with people.

 (Shinji’s POV)

 ”Has the interrogation concluded already?”

”Yes. As per the lord’s instructions, when I suggested a ‘deal,’ she told us everything.”

Knight Lord Müller visited the mansion to relay the interrogation results of the swordswoman Rebecca Raider from Giacomo Rultz’s party.

It’s regarding the Hazel family involved in the recent abduction case.

And the Marquis Bausnerun behind them.

”We can’t press the Marquis based solely on her testimony, but it’s crucial we’ve managed to grasp the facts here. ──So, what about her?”

”As per the lord’s directive, we made a deal: ‘in exchange for her telling everything, she won’t be charged, and her custody will remain with the lord from now on.’ Well, truthfully, I think she would’ve talked honestly without that.”

 ”What do you mean?”

Milia asks while offering a glass of wine to Knight Müller.

It’s the nice wine Della brought this morning as a ‘thank you’ for last night.

”She mentioned something about having to keep her promise to Hiroya, so she would share everything.”

 ”I see.”

I unconsciously let out a smile, which made Knight Müller look at me questioningly, so I briefly explained about last night.

”I see. So it was Hiroya who subdued Rebecca?”

”Yeah. Apparently, at that time, he promised to apologize to the Lady Sasha, the guard who was seriously injured by her.”

”He managed to defeat an S-rank opponent, huh? ──It seems he has already fulfilled his promise to me.”

The knight Müller smiles happily while sipping his wine.

 ”Your promise with him?”

”Yes. To reach S-rank in 3 years and conquer the ‘S-rank Dungeon’. Well, that ‘S-rank Dungeon’ has returned to the usual ‘Goblin Forest Labyrinth’ now, though.”

In response to my question, he directs that same smile toward me.

”I think right now, Hiroya is substituting his promise with you for the ‘Great Labyrinth Raetia conquest,’ and he’s working hard to fulfill it.”

”That will happen within the next month or 2.”

Milia, who was sitting beside me, added to my words.

”Has he gotten that far already?”

The knight Müller lifts himself slightly from his chair, looking a bit surprised.

”By the way… that is also the deadline. ──The next goal is the ‘Welnia Labyrinth conquest’ in the imperial capital.”

”Ah. That will probably be the place for the final confrontation with Azradelius.”

The knight Müller sinks back into his chair with a look of exhaustion as Milia and I continue our conversation.

”…It seems we ‘adults’ have put them in charge of something quite tremendous.”

”That’s true… but we can only believe in them and send them off.”

It’s painful to see the strained expressions on the faces of knight Müller and Milia.

”Hiroya, Kazumi, Rena, Liz, Martina, Dorothy… Under the 6 of them, to whom we entrusted our wishes, many strong allies are now gathering. ──It’ll be alright. They’ll do better than we did.”

I don’t intend to comfort them.

I conveyed my true feelings to them.

”And… we still have our own things we need to do.”

The knight Müller, as if reconsidering, finishes his glass of wine.

”You’re a knight who has pledged loyalty to the king… You have no obligation to us, you know?”

”No, before the cause of my lord and the hero, my vows and knightly status mean little… I’m ready to cast them aside at any time.”

As for me, I had no intention of involving Knight Müller in the power struggle.

So, I informed him about my current situation and that I would likely oppose the king in the future.

I wanted to return this fiercely loyal man back to the king.

”Really… you’re so aloof, my lord.”

When we spoke, he immediately refused to return to the Royal Capital, and he now murmured the same words he had spoken then as he offered Milia an empty glass.
