Volume 2 Chapter 87 Desperate Surprise Attack
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
The moment the door opened, Natra instantly turned intangible, while Kian was redoing the bottom buttons of his attire.
A masterful skill made possible by enveloping his hand in ‘Leap.’
It was a ridiculously refined technique he would likely never use again.
(That aside)
”────”
The door to the room was wide open.
Yet, the wooden door simply creaked open slowly, and no one appeared despite the passage of time.
The presence that had been audible just moments ago had completely vanished, and there were no sounds from the servants who should be outside.
The waiting room was eerily quiet.
”Sir Kian”
Suddenly, the girl wearing the Kitsune mask reappeared.
She concealed the feminine allure she had displayed earlier, her eyes now stern.
”Ah. It seems we won’t be continuing what we started earlier.”
”You can indulge with me anytime later. I will check on the situation, so please wait a moment.”
”Who is it? Is someone there!?”
Shouting from behind, Natra approached the creaking door.
Only the flickering flames of the chandelier and candlesticks responded, yet no reply came.
”Natra”
Pulling a long sword from Tengu, Kian tossed it to Natra.
While confirming she caught it one-handed, Kian donned his ‘glasses.’
There was resistance.
He had previously lost control and killed Almeisa in a fit of emotion.
However, it was necessary power now.
As long as the ‘glasses’ are a useful tool, they should be utilized.
’There is nothing to fear. Your strength grows day by day. With this one, you won’t lose to any strong foe.’
(Although Natra had killed me once before)
He might have said it to inspire him, but in the state of wearing ‘glasses,’ Kian couldn’t muster any emotional response.
Kian quickly peered through the door.
”Two individuals on the ground. They’re servants. Given the amount of energy (ki), they are still alive.”
”That ‘glasses’…”
Natra, who had been on guard with her long sword ready, turned around.
”It’s a magic tool excellent for reconnaissance. ──Later, if the opportunity arises, I’ll explain various things to you.”
(Is that alright?)
’That servant and you have been together for a long time. It’s not something that will remain hidden forever, so I don’t really mind. Hehe…’
Natra kicked open the door and dashed into the hallway.
The wooden door bounced back, swinging open.
Under the lamp in the wide corridor, 2 male servants slumped against the wall.
”It’s an anesthetic.”
Natra quickly whispered this while glancing at their mouths with her hand.
Moving backward while being wary of the balcony, she exited the room.
The corridor was dimly lit by sporadic lamps, and she couldn’t see any shadows of people.
The night’s darkness gaped wide, impossible to see through.
”…It’s tempting.”
Looking through her ‘glasses’, she confirmed a slender shadow flitting in the darkness ahead.
The highlighted shadow, marked in red, continued to advance around the corner at the end of the corridor.
Perhaps using advanced cloaking, the shadow suddenly vanished at one point.
”There are 3 options available. One is to wait quietly in this room for the servants or patrolling soldiers to arrive. The second is to move to the mansion where the meeting is taking place. The third is to proceed down the hallway while making a commotion.”
”Which option do you think you should choose?”
”If it were me, I’d investigate the situation of the mansion and go to report where the meeting is happening. It’s not like me to huddle like a badger in a room while something might be happening outside.”
(‘Glasses’, what about you?)
’There’s no need to move, right? Whatever happens is none of our concern. However, if an intruder comes to the waiting room, I’ll strike without mercy.’
(I see.)
”Natra, it’s not our job to report to Renaud and the others.”
”Are you saying to send a Night Wraith?”
”If it’s a wraith, the knight receiving the letter will go on high alert. Just wait.”
Kian returned to the room and threw open the glass door to the balcony.
Outside, there were steep walls of the castle and cliffs.
Below, the lights of the sleepless casino town spread out.
It looked as if the night sky had turned upside down.
”────”
Leaping onto the balcony railing, Kian used the charm of the ‘glasses’ to search for the intended creatures.
Spreading his arms wide, he emitted a strong energy (ki), and soon a few bats flew towards him with the speed of arrows from the darkness of the night.
While almost none of the crows had been turned into servants, there were still many bats remaining as slaves.
The night was their domain.
”So, are we going to barricade ourselves here?”
”Are you dissatisfied? As for me, I’d prefer to wait casually while continuing our earlier activities.”
”Sir Kian, asking for insertion in the current situation is troublesome. If we are attacked while we’re both at our peak, I can become incorporeal, but your life will be in danger.”
Kian was taken aback by Natra’s serious reply, her strict expression silencing him.
His usual dirty jokes were falling flat──
If it were Christy, she would have flushed bright red and retorted, but instead, he received a serious comment as if being reprimanded.
He had a faint sense that he and Natra, while wearing the ‘glasses’, didn’t seem to have much of a personality match.
’Both are quite strong-willed. The crazy sadist and the realist can’t coexist.’
(If you, who knows a woman’s heart, says so, it must be true. I tend to lose control of my emotions in this state, and I’ll be sure to revert back as soon as I’m done.)
Kian shrugged and removed the ‘glasses’.
”That was an uncharacteristic joke. Please forgive me.”
”I won’t forgive you. You’ll face punishment later.”
”Huh?”
”This is not a joke.”
Natra chuckled softly and affectionately stroked Kian’s groin.
”I’m just as frustrated. ──When we return, I’ll take good care of you in bed. So let’s focus for now.”
”O-oh…”
While being aroused again by the girl’s touch, Kian wrote a letter to Renaud informing him that the servant in the hallway was put to sleep with anesthetics.
