Volume 2 Chapter 87 Desperate Surprise Attack
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”What are you saying, milady?!”
”I’m telling you to drop your weapon! Can’t you hear my order?!”
At Natra’s shout, the female assassin twisted her expression under the veil.
”Of course I can’t! Sir Shajar ordered me to kill that man! What are you confused about, milady?! That guy is the enemy of Almeisa and Nia, and Lady Val!”
”I’ll explain later, so first put away your sword. Only then.”
Natra was completely intent on catching her off guard.
If Rufna hesitated and sheathed her sword, she’d likely chop off her head the next instant.
However, the dark elf assassin tore the veil away and bared her teeth.
”I can’t listen! Are you under some kind of mind control by that man?! Just wait, I’ll rescue you right away! …ugh!”
Cutting in mid-sentence, she responded with a strong ‘impact’ entwined on the blade of her black shamshir.
Kian knows how difficult it is to maintain ‘impact’ while scattering magic power from the windsong magic sword during training with Natra.
But this woman maintained it without even moving a single eyebrow.
(So strong…!)
”Sir Kian, Rufna is an expert at ‘Wall’! Watch out for her invisible barriers!”
”Milady…! N-no, ooooh!”
”Ugh.”
Until now, it was Natra who had been practicing sparring with Kian.
This dark elf named Rufna, unlike Natra, had a well-built physique.
Unlike Natra, who fought with speed, technique, and a magic power boost, she gave off the impression of a pure power fighter.
Rufna’s brown arms bulged.
She deflected Kian’s sword with her arm.
Taking advantage of the opening, she tackled him, lifting him by the arm under his armpit.
Her pivot foot creaked loudly as she effortlessly tossed Kian toward the balcony.
”Guh!?”
”Sir Kian! …damn it, get out of the way!”
”──! Natra, you take care of that one!”
As Kian clashed with Rufna again, he shouted.
The woman’s core strength was unbelievably powerful.
Despite being a man, he was being pushed back, inch by inch, across the balcony overlooking the cliff and the casino town.
It seemed the difference in muscle quality between the human race and the dark elves was influencing this.
”I’ll take care of this guy!”
”Understood!”
”OoOoOoh!”
Rufna roared.
She was in a stalemate with the Windsong Blade.
Her brown hand reached out.
The woman’s hand tightly grasped the junction of blades, causing droplets of blood to fly.
Holding down the Windsong Blade with one hand, she swiftly thrust the tip of her black sword towards Kian’s brow.
”…!”
Dodge.
A hot sensation was felt at his right ear.
Kian tried to slice off her hand by pulling back the Windsong Blade, but her hand was already being withdrawn.
”Raaah!”
The woman’s shamshir, which had aimed for his brow, now aimed to pierce his chest.
He swiped it away at the base of the magic sword while leaping backward.
He avoided the horizontal slash that followed by jumping onto the balcony railing.
”────”
”……”
Their gazes intertwined.
The dark elf woman possessed an extraordinary beauty that honored her race.
However, her gray eyes beneath arched silver brows were sharp enough to kill with a mere glance.
Kicking off the balcony railing.
She leaped into the dark sky.
Below, the lights of the entertainment town sparkled like an overturned starry sky.
A feeling of weightlessness in a singular leap.
She soared through the night view overlooking the harbor like a magical bird.
Kian dodged an enemy attack that came to sever his foot with a returning blade, grabbing a protrusion of the castle wall and leaping upwards.
Directly above was the castle roof, where a square protrusion had been arranged to prevent falls.
With the windstorm generated by the Windsong Blade aiding him, Kian landed in a flowerbed filled with colorful blossoms.
”Woooahh!”
”────!”
Like a small meteor, the dark elf in a white dancer’s outfit fell down.
Surprised, Kian jumped back to avoid her, and she landed with a loud thud, immediately charging in to slash Kian’s belly along with the flowers.
The attack was dodged, but countless rare flower heads from the flower bed scattered into the air.
There was a gap of 5 meters, but the woman showed no signs of wanting to retreat further.
This was likely due to considering the potential single blow from the magic sword.
If he recall, the strong attack from the Windsong Blade would instantly kill an opponent, making it effectively a Secret Technique.
A deadly attack where there’s no way to escape other than interrupting before the magic power accumulates──undoubtedly a fiendish existence.
”You! What did you do to my lady!?”
Normally, one would come to kill without showing emotion, but it seemed the woman was furious.
He should engage in conversation.
If the enemy is furious, he can use his words to provoke her even more.
Throwing her off from making calm decisions.
”I captured her and trained her. The current Natra is no longer the Natra you remember. She’s a cute familiar that serves me faithfully.”
”You…!”
”Let me tell you, if you kill me, Natra might become a shell of her former self. If you want to return her to normal, you better hold back and not kill me.”
Gradually moving sideways while weaving words.
It was to catch the woman off guard.
(As a Dark Elf, she likely has high physical ability and might use heightened senses for short-term future predictions. She would be a troublesome opponent who cannot be ambushed or trapped.)
The Windsong Blade screamed.
This loud sound, along with Kian and Natra’s release of magic power, should have reached the magicians and Beastmen knights──yet there was still no sign of reinforcements coming from outside.
Could there be a trap laid out… ?
As he pondered this, the voice of ‘glasses’ echoed.
’It’s a barrier. A thin layer of energy has been created across the entire combat domain.’
Following the voice, he noticed a thin wall of magic power covering a wide area indeed.
It was a wall that not only suppressed sound but also interfered with the detection of magic power, possessing stealthy effects.
The effect of releasing magic power on the ‘world’ is like the ripples created when a stone is thrown into water.
Those with the ability to sense the distortions caused by the release of magic power can detect it and recognize the source of the magic power.
This barrier is meant to keep those ripples from leaking out.
(What a perfect barrier. I heard that a skilled barrier practitioner can also be an excellent assassin; so this is what they meant.)
In this case, they can draw the target away from the guards, isolate them, and quietly dispose of them.
