Volume 2 Chapter 88 Hear My Roar, It Will Burn The Earth To Ashes

 Besides, it’s night now.

Warrior monks are used to fighting at night, but the darkness reduces their combat ability somewhat──.

 ”Haa, haa, haa…”

Sarah Nakash was sprinting through the thick forest of oak trees like she was leaping.

She had strayed quite far from her allies who were engaged in battle elsewhere.

Even if their fight ended, it would take time to reach them for help.

(But, now is not the time to worry about that!)

 She could tell without seeing.

 To her left, diagonally behind.

A presence, as massive as the sun, was keeping pace with Sarah, not left behind by her speed.

 ”────!”

The original magic power was too vast, making it difficult to pinpoint the exact location from magic power detection.

 The oppressive feeling remained.

A strong sense of urgency filled her chest.

Suddenly, the presence of Oswald, who had been pursuing her, vanished.

 (Invisibility…!)

 She turned around.

Oswald, appearing before her due to the advanced technique ‘Domain’ of ‘Leap’, had raised the Holy Sword of the Sun in mid-air.

In a moment’s breath, the silver blade of the holy sword was swung down.

Sarah grimaced and parried with her Venomous Blade, stopping it.

 ”Ooooh!”

 ”…!”

She was pushed back, unable to resist.

Slamming into the earth covered in ferns, even as her back scraped against the ground, she couldn’t stop Oswald’s body.

Gritting her teeth, Sarah curled up and kicked Oswald’s body upward, changing the direction of their strength.

The ‘Knights of the Sun’ flew away.

Sarah somehow managed to roll and stand up, but right in front of her, Oswald reappeared, striking down the holy sword with brute force.

”What’s wrong, Sarah Nakash! At this rate, you’re no better than Nizaam!”

 ”Gu…!”

”Hahaha! At this rate, the name ‘Azrael’s Death Sword User’ will be shamed!”

Sparks flew, and the fierce face of the handsome golden-haired youth came into view.

Sarah attempted to wrap him, but Oswald sensed it and kicked her in the stomach, making her stagger.

 A follow-up slash.

His blade carved a deadly arc, aiming from her shoulder to her waist.

Receiving it with Venomous Blade is unavoidable, and each time her hands go numb, draining her magic power.

 (I can’t fight him head-on!)

Gritting her teeth, she activated Shot and Wall, launching a thread toward the high branches of a towering oak behind her.

 ”No!!”

Oswald saw it and tried to cut it down.

But Sarah roared, shoving back against the holy sword with all her strength. Steel scraped against steel before she sent his blade flying—knocking it toward the branches behind her.

The strike from the sun’s magic sword was discarded.

(Once that holy sword is sheathed, it transforms into a magic sword. After a charge, an unavoidable, massive attack will follow. If I don’t stop it in time… I’ll die.)

There was no room for hesitation.

If she wanted to bring down this monster, she had to throw away every safe option.

 ”──────!”

In a leap with the ‘thread’ to the branch, Oswald catches up and swings at her.

Sparks of clashing swords scatter in the air.

The ‘thread’ goes slack, and she is slammed to the ground from mid-air.

 ”Ah, uh…!”

 ”Haaaa!!”

 ”──────”

The holy sword ignites in flames due to Oswald’s magic power.

It draws a beautiful ring of fire in the darkness and struck Sarah, who was slammed to the ground.

She rolls, dodges, but gets thrown back from not being able to evade.

She hastily make a ‘Wall’, but Oswald charges in without even trying to evade.

The moment it touched the magic power showing the sun-like shadow of the young man, Sarah’s hastily made ‘Wall’ was crushed to dust.

 ”Ooooh!!”

The young man takes a high stance and steps forward.

As his foot steps onto the leaf-covered ground, flames blast forth, as if to slay the earth with a downward slash.

 ”──────”

 Sarah dodged.

If she didn’t, she would die.

Simply twisting her body wasn’t enough. She had to throw herself backward, ignoring everything else—

 (No, I won’t make it in time──)

The sun-like red and yellow flames turn a ten-meter wide area of ground into barren earth in an instant.

The shockwave sends Sarah’s frail body flying.

Pieces of stone, melted like lava, burn her clothes and skin sharply, tearing her body apart.

Ignoring the pain, Sarah stood up as Oswald slowly emerged from the melting, orange-glowing earth.

The earrings resembling the sun swayed, and the young man’s mouth twisted cruelly.

 ”Hah, hah──hah, ha──”

 It’s hot and burning.

Her face was surely covered in sweat.

She could feel the mud from the fall clinging to her face.

Her body was screaming, and her reason was shouting that it was at its limit, but if she didn’t fight, she would be killed.

That golden reaper would erase her existence without leaving a trace.

Exposed to despair, Sarah murmured softly.

 ”Why…”

 ”…?”

”Why did you deceive me as ‘Azrael’s Death Sword User’? Why did you kill the beloved Sir Nizaam!?”

 ”Why? Heh, ‘why’ you ask?”

 Oswald’s form dissipated.

 (Where…?)

 Did he circle around?

 No, it’s from the front.

A thrust from a low stance.

Unable to stomp down on the blade in time, she deflected it with the Venomous Blade.

Her arm was slashed and ignited.

Gathering all her energy (ki), she struggled against the blazing curse.

Oswald raised the angle of his sword, bearing down on Sarah with his weight.

 His muscular arm swelled mightily.

The sun’s heat scorched the tips of Sarah’s hair.

A roar of red flames erupted from beneath her, burning her right foot used for stepping forward.

 ”Ugh…”

”Because you beings don’t deserve to claim ‘justice’! Azrael wields tremendous power, exerting military and economic force over all the nations of the East and West, bringing about a fleeting order and peace through suppression and intimidation! The embodiment of that is the Twelve Divine Generals and your title ‘Azrael’s Death Sword User’!”

Oswald’s golden eyes did not blink.

As if recalling deep anger and despair, his voice trembled.

”But there are countless villages and small towns that have fallen victim to your actions of ‘demonstrating might in the surroundings.’ The people who lived there each had their own lives, memories, and loved ones! You trampled all over that, taking it away unilaterally and committing massacre!”

 ”…You are…!”

”That’s right, I’m a former combat slave! Abducted by Azrael at a young age, trained to kill my fellow Westerners like a doll of death! Nizaam kept me alive and nurtured me! The very existence of this Oswald is proof of your sins!”

 ”……!”

 Oswald was angry.
