Volume 13 Chapter 205-2 Shirogane Aqua, The Man Called Me
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Huh!? Are you picking a fight with me!?”
Oh, right. I just remembered.
Kohina-senpai was terrible at sports, wasn’t she?
I slowed my pace to match hers, watching her struggle like a newborn deer.
”Honestly, I feel like it would be easier if I just carried Kohina-senpai or piggybacked her…”
”That wouldn’t make any sense!! Come on, stop dawdling and run! 1-2! 1-2!”
The audience snickered at our ridiculous banter.
Meanwhile, Kohina-senpai, completely oblivious, remained laser-focused on this three-legged race like it was the Olympic finals.
Alright!
Since she’s too busy to notice, I’ll take this rare chance to thank her.
Even if she doesn’t hear me, I can always claim I said it while running! Genius!
”Kohina-senpai, thank you for everything while I was gone.”
”Yeah, yeah.”
Wait.
Is she even listening?!
I turned my face away, suddenly feeling embarrassed.
The chuckles from the audience grew louder.
Ugh!
Why am I the one getting embarrassed here!?
”Recently, I’ve started to find that part of you cute. You really can’t lie, and somehow you’re honest and easy to read. It’s nice for me because your thoughts are so easy to understand.”
Grrr!
The audience erupted in laughter as my face turned red.
”Well, I’m off now.”
As we arrived at the next point, Kohina-senpai casually untied the rope binding our legs.
Wait, what?
Who’s next?
I glanced around.
Nobody was standing there, and the next runners were still chilling 100 meters away.
”What? Why are you looking so lost? It’s obvious who you’re going to run with for the next 100 meters.”
With a devilish grin, Kohina-senpai shoved the rope into Ako-san’s hands.
”Hey, Ako-cchi, why do you look so lost too? Hmm?”
”Uh, well… huh? Me!?“
Ako-san was just as uninformed as I was.
Without waiting for protests, Kohina-senpai knelt down and efficiently tied the rope around my and Ako-san’s feet.
”Alright! Go for it!!”
Before we could even protest, Kohina-senpai gave us a firm push from behind.
”Ah, Aqua-kun, take it slow.”
”Understood.”
The audience applauded warmly, their cheers surrounding us.
It was surreal.
Ako-san was so focused on not tripping that she didn’t even realize how many fans were supporting us.
And yet, it was Ako-san who had created this opportunity in the first place.
”Ako-san, thank you so much for creating Beryl and making me an idol.”
”Huh? Did you say something just now?”
I shook my head. Nope, nothing at all.
She didn’t need to hear it—this moment already said everything.
”Ako-san, please be my partner forever and ever.”
”Eh? Aqua-kun, you definitely said something!!”
Haha, just your imagination.
I laughed to dodge the question.
”W-We’ve arrived…”
At the final checkpoint, Tenga-senpai, Shintaro, and Toa stood there waiting, smiling like they had just won the lottery.
”Wow, Mayuzumi-kun, are you not hurt!? And Tenga-kun and Toa-chan both have tape on their feet; are you all really okay!?”
”Yeah, no problem.”
”I’m fine.”
”I’m all good!”
Wow.
We’ve all toughened up, huh?
I hugged the three of them, a silent pat on the back for all our efforts.
”Okay, 100 meters left. Let’s all go for the goal!!”
”Yeah!”
”Sure!”
”Got it!”
”Let’s go!”
With our arms wrapped around each other, Ako-san gave us a final push toward the finish line.
I had thought I’d talk a lot during this last 100 meters.
But I was so happy—so overwhelmed—that I couldn’t find the words.
Everyone had made it this far.
Everyone had supported each other.
Instead, I just shouted:
”Alright, let’s go together! 1, 2!”
In response to Toa’s call, we all charged forward, breaking through the tape together.
Emotion swelled in my chest.
We did it.
Once again, we praised each other’s efforts.
”I knew Tenga-senpai would definitely be the first to come back. Thank you!”
”I believed you would definitely score if you were a junior!! I’m really glad I came all the way here because of you.”
Ugh!
Tenga-senpai, you’re definitely trying to make me cry, aren’t you!?
”Shintaro! You really are awesome!! I believed you would definitely score!!”
”Compared to you, I still have a long way to go. But I’m glad I managed to score. Aqua, thank you for bringing me here!”
I almost want to say I’m the one who should be thanking you.
Shintaro!!
”Toa, you did it! Everyone was worried, but Toa has a strong fighting spirit. I knew you would definitely pull it off!”
”Of course! I wanted to say that, but it was pretty close, so if there’s a next time, I’ll do even better. Aqua, thanks for getting me outside that day!”
I grinned and gave Toa a fist bump.
”So, everyone from BERYL. Congratulations on scoring once again!”
””””Thank you!””””
As we stepped onto the stage, Announcer Onidzuka was already waiting for us.
And after this… if everything goes as planned… it’ll be that.
”Now, to everyone gathered here and those watching on their TVs or computers, please pay attention to the large screen behind you!!”
Following his instructions, we turned toward the massive screen.
[BERYL, National Live Tour Resumes!!]
A huge cheer erupted.
September, October, November, December—we hadn’t yet performed in Nagano, Ehime in Shikoku, Kumamoto in Kyushu, or Okinawa.
And after the new year, we’d return to Tokyo for the grand finale.
But the surprises weren’t over.
[And BERYL is reaching further…!!]
The moment the words appeared, the cheers doubled.
A world tour!
Getting permission for this was insanely difficult.
I wanted to personally thank everyone who had run around like madmen, contacting different parties across the globe.
”And there’s one more special announcement!”
Huh!?!
The four of us exchanged nervous glances.
Wait.
Did anyone know about this?
Nope.
Not a clue.
We were instantly suspicious.
The “Berry-Berry” staff had pulled too many surprise stunts in the past.
”Hey everyone, you’ve been training for that shoot recently, right?”
”Yeah.”
”No way, that’s a lie, right?”
Onidzuka turned back to the screen with a way too smug expression.
”Actually, it wasn’t for a movie shoot, but for this! Here you go!!”
Huh!?!
WHAT!?!
WHAT DO YOU MEAN!?!
We all snapped our heads toward the screen.
[BERYL, Worldwide Live Broadcast from the Space Station Confirmed!!]
WHAAAAAAAAAAT!?
Wait.
Wait.
WAIT!!
We were training for a movie about astronauts, right!?
A MOVIE.
A massive cheer erupted from the audience at this completely insane announcement.
”So, everyone, do your best!!”
”NO WAY!!”
We stood there, stunned.
The ED song started playing.
Hey.
HEY!!
”You’re trying to wrap this up smoothly, aren’t you?!?”
And thus—
Through chaos, confusion, and sheer madness—
Our 24-hour TV event ended with everyone reaching the goal.
