 ”Haah… haah…”

 Forward.

 Forward. Forward. Forward—

They made their way through the dark, stinking sewer.

Becoming a Night Wraith seemed to have greatly enhanced Natra’s senses.

She advanced as if she knew the complex structure of the sewer.

Meanwhile, Kian was pondering how to break the sewer along with the town.

Thinking of ways to cause ground collapse with blast break had become second nature to him.

He secretly fantasized about how to coolly blast break the arena or Maribel’s mansion.

Of course, he had no intention to actually do it, but it was fun to imagine as a mental exercise.

 A few minutes later.

Kian and his group, charging through the sewer at almost full speed, suddenly reached the endpoint.

Natra stopped, pointing to a depression in the right wall.

There was an iron ladder set up.

Looking up at the ceiling, they could see a small glimpse of the starry sky.

It seemed there was an old well or something above.

 Probably no longer in use.

 ”Let’s climb up.”

At Natra’s words, Kian nodded slightly.

* * *

Exiting the well, they found themselves in an alley near the adventurers’ Guild.

There was no sign of life around, and no presence from the buildings enclosing the well area.

Kian reached out to pull Serena and Rufna up one by one from the well.

Serena held onto his arm, but Rufna chuckled, disappearing into mist, and reappearing behind Kian to kiss him on the cheek.

”I sense multiple knights in the town.”

Natra, peeking from the alley, reported returning with that information.

”The knights are all heavily armored. They seem quite vigilant.”

”Are they searching for remnants of the armed faction?”

Serena made that remark, but that probably wasn’t the case.

Kian gazed at the Wolfmen girl.

”Serena, what do you do? Should you wait here? It would be troublesome if you were discovered.”

 ”…Yeah.”

”──Now that it’s come to this, you have no choice but to come with us.”

 Natra stated flatly.

Rufna had already finished creating multiple footholds on the building’s Wall.

”Then, let’s go from above. Are you ready, Master?”

”No problem. Serena, try to suppress your magic power output as much as possible. We’re sneaking into Main Castle.”

”Understood. …I’ll do my best not to slow you down.”

It was sad to make her say such a thing, considering how much she had been helped last month, but it couldn’t be helped.

It was she herself who had insisted on coming along.

Rufna leaped onto the roof without a sound.

 Natra followed.

Kian turned into a black mist and followed after them.

Serena was surprised by Kian’s Mist Form and was slow to start, but she seemed to be somehow keeping up with her innate body ability.

The fact that she could keep up with the wraith-like Azrael’s warrior monk and Kian, who could turn into mist, showed that her potential was indeed top-notch.

They sped across the tops of the tall stone buildings.

They leaped through the dark night, aiming for the arena.

 ”────! Sir Kian!”

 Natra’s voice, coming from ahead.

At the end of her pointing finger, he could see the water moat that Kian had previously break, and beyond that, countless bonfires surrounding the Main Castle’s castle Wall.

”They’re under siege. I don’t need to check which army it is, do I?”

 ”────”

(Oswald… Could he really be besieging Maribel?)

 He narrowed his eyes slightly.

He couldn’t tell because of the distance, but he wondered if Oswald hadn’t yet entered Main Castle.

The protective barrier protecting Main Castle still seemed to be working──.

”We’ll cross the water moat, Master.”

”Serena, I’ll deploy a ‘Wall’ for you, so cross over it. You can be slow, just be careful not to fall.”

 Rufna said that behind Kian.

Ahead, Natra kicked the roof of the last building in the city street area forcefully.

Kian also turned into mist and landed without a sound.

They ran through the area of the break destroyed windbreak.

A ‘Wall’ appeared above the water.

Following Natra, he ran over it.

Ahead, the outer Wall of the white Main Castle.

 ”Hup!”

 Natra’s shout.

 He leaped.

 Kian leaped too.

Black mist trailed in the night’s darkness.

Kian, who had leaped from the water’s surface into the sky, drew a semi-circular arc and jumped over the white castle Wall.

Then, emerging onto a narrow, sloping path, he sensed a strange presence a hundred meters to his left.

 (A monster!?)

’No. Owl soldiers. They’ll attack if seen. Jump to the Wall of the castle on the right. Then, circle around the top of the Wall to the right, heading for Princess Maribel’s residence.’

”Natra, jump to the Wall of the castle on the right. Circle widely around the Wall to the right.”

 ”Yes!”

Jumping onto the Wall separating the narrow passage within the Main Castle, he ran silently along it.

The 30-centimeter-wide foothold was high, and like the path below, it sloped.

Looking up, he saw the buildings of the Northern District, which he had become familiar with in the last few days.

He even knew where Christy’s house was.

But the black-haired witch wouldn’t be at home.

She should be somewhere in Maribel’s residence at the back, as ‘glasses’ had instructed.

He leaped onto the roofs of the residences of Maribel’s witches and high-ranking Servants like McCutchen.

Running across them, he soon encountered a tall, white Wall.

 He jumped over it.

He did not land in the garden, but grabbed onto the branches of the planted oak trees.

He climbed further up the trunk.

Then, following Natra, he jumped down to the railing of the veranda.

Natra had already taken spirit form and opened the key to the glass door separating the veranda and the room.

The door opened with a strong gust of wind.

Kian’s Nightshade coat fluttered in the wind against the backdrop of the white moon shining in the night sky.

 ”Eh…?”

 ”K…, Kian?”

 The back of the room.

Two shadows of women, huddled together in the corner of the room, as if escaping the moonlight.

Kian jumped down from the railing and quickly entered the room.

”Sorry to keep you waiting, Christy. I came to help as promised.”
