Volume 2 Chapter 103 Dawn Of Izerland I
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Aisha and the Oswald’s Knights formed battle lines for a counterattack.
”Sir Oswald, we shall be your opponents.”
”C…!”
”Sir Oswald, leave the weaklings to us!”
”Understood. Kian will be my opponent. I leave the rest to you.”
Not only is a trio heading toward Aisha and her group, but also the Owl Knights who Oswald had seemingly incinerated earlier.
Though their bodies haven’t fully healed, their movements are sluggish, they bared their fangs and closed the distance with Oswald’s soldiers.
”Kian!”
The young man bathed in sunlight burned with murderous intent.
”If you desire death so much, I shall grant it! I shall slay you here!”
”As I wish.”
”Hahahah.”
Oswald, brandishing his holy sword, quickly ascended the stairs.
As they passed, 3 Knights summoned by the Owl descended toward Aisha and the others.
”Natra, Rufna!”
The Windsong Blade was enveloped in white wind.
A song reverberated.
Beyond the night sky.
Far, far away.
”We will defeat Oswald! Ignite your energy (ki)! Give it everything you’ve got!”
”Yes!” “Ooooh!”
”Hahaha! Very well!”
Oswald roared.
”If you dare challenge the Sun (me), I shall show you the consequences! I shall leave you without a single soul! Prepare yourself!”
* * *
A golden sun plummeted from above──.
”────””Sir Kian!”
The battle’s start was marked by the golden gleam that arced toward them from the top of the Main Castle’s south wing marble staircase, swallowed by the night’s darkness in an instant.
* * *
Oswald struck down like a meteor, and the moment his feet touched the ground, he swung his holy sword in a wide arc, unleashing a flood of red flames toward Kian and Natra.
Scarlet fire bloomed in the air, searing the battlefield. Kian and Natra split in two directions, leaping away at the same time.
At this close range, the overwhelming release of Oswald’s energy (ki) disrupted the surrounding domain, making it impossible to interfere with its physical laws or use instantaneous domain-based teleportation.
Their only option was to rely on Leap-based Acceleration.
But Leap was a double-edged sword—it didn’t strengthen the cells themselves. If they miscalculated the force, their muscles would tear apart, leaving them gravely injured.
”────!”
Oswald tried to chase down the poorly armed girl, putting strength into his legs, but at the last moment, he noticed the ‘thread’ approaching his neck and twisted his body to avoid it.
(A Dark Elf shaman)
From the top of the stairs, a beautiful female Elf let out a hiss, widening the corners of her mouth.
Her ‘threads’ were flying around the young man, silently rushing to tear him into pieces from all directions.
”────”
Avoid it.
Avoid it.
Avoid it.
Just a small jump, a twist of the body, and with minimal movement, slip through.
Beyond the slip, Natra and Kian were there, enclosing him with their swords from both sides.
The Windsong Blade let out a scream.
That couldn’t be dodged.
Even if he slipped through, the fine cuts from the sword’s edge would either reach Oswald’s eyes or forehead.
Considering the bleeding and the possibility of one eye being crushed, it had to be met with a holy sword.
Then, the girl’s sword strike from the right hand should be avoided.
”…, …, …!”
The holy sword clashed with the Windsong Blade, producing a blast of flames.
Ignoring Kian, whose vision was distorted by the high heat, Oswald focused his consciousness on the blade Natra coming at his neck.
Within him, a prediction of the future based on his past battle experiences was drawn.
In an instant, using the point of contact with the Windsong Blade as a pivot, Oswald jumped up, assuming an upside-down posture in the air.
Natra’s sword cut through the sky.
”Fu…!”
During the Leap, flames enveloped both feet.
If he could swing these down onto Natra who came to cut his neck, the Night Wraith would be engulfed in flames all over with one strike.
”────!”
As if struck by the scythe of death, Natra reacted hyperactively to the sharp slash of Oswald’s right foot.
She dodged to the right, trying not to be consumed by Oswald’s flames, and retreated to the back.
Yielding to Kian who tried to push through with sheer strength, Oswald twisted his body to the side to dodge.
The magic power Oswald wielded had a visual effect like flames spewing out.
The air that was actually burning had become extremely hot.
He could impose directionality just by glaring at the high-temperature air.
(Burn!)
”Ugh…”
”Tch…!”
(Burn…!)
His golden eyes narrowed, the pupil darkened to a single point of black.
Threads and walls of magic, hurled by the Dark Elf magician, shot toward him in pursuit. But Oswald’s flaming aura of magic power simply obliterated them, scorching them to nothing as they disintegrated in midair.
A ring of phantom fire spread outward from Oswald, flickering like a mirage.
Kian and Natra, caught in the blast, were blown backward, their clothes and hair singed by the heat. The distance between them and Oswald widened in an instant.
A battle lasting less than five seconds—just a single clash of movement and power.
The marble floor shimmered with heat, waves of distortion rising from its surface. The air reeked of burnt fabric and scorched stone.
And at the heart of the blast zone, Oswald activated his domain.
His target?
The Dark Elf magician standing at the top of the stairs.
With three enemies, the first move was obvious—eliminate the rearguard magician first.
Like a blazing sun, Oswald leapt in a single bound, soaring up the marble steps, closing in on the magician at the summit.
(‘Shadow’──)
A golden clone shone from his body.
Following Oswald’s sword swing, it struck twice with a slight delay, tracing the same trajectory.
The dark elf woman had likely sensed his approach with Future Sight and was parrying with her black curved sword.
──A high-pitched metallic sound came after a delay.
”Ooooooh!”
”G…ugh…!”
Oswald was trying to crush her.
Rufna was opposing him with her hand on the edge of the curved sword.
He felt Kian and Natra jumping in from behind who had regained their footing.
The scream of the Windsong Blade reached his ears.
(I’ll push through before that!)
”Aaah────”
* * *
(It’s fast. More than that, each strike is too heavy.)
While he was used to Natra’s speed, and his reaction speed had improved, he could still manage.
However, the pressure that every single blow was not only wide-ranging but also lethal kept Kian from stepping in deeply.
If he pressed too hard, he would die from a counterattack──.
Surely, Natra felt the same way.
”Aaah──!”
As Oswald’s overhead slash bore down on Rufna, she deliberately lost her balance and was blown backward.
If Oswald followed up with a pursuit attack, Rufna’s defenses would shatter and her body would be utterly destroyed.
But before that could happen, Natra, moving like a shadow, appeared right in front of Oswald with her long sword raised.
”Sh…!”
Natra’s arm whirled.
Aiming for Oswald’s neck as he swung his holy sword downward.
Oswald, about to leap with the holy sword, immediately let go of the hilt.
To Kian, who was watching from the side, it was an unbelievable move, but it was also the reasonable one.
Natra had stepped on the holy sword.
Thus, she couldn’t avoid it while holding onto it.
As Oswald released the holy sword, he crumpled backward on the spot and, with his flame-wrapped right foot, kicked the advancing Natra into the air.
”────!”
Natra leapt backward.
Kian had expected Oswald to jump straight up, preparing to strike him from above. But that half-moment of miscalculation cost him—his downward slash with Windsong Blade whiffed through empty air.
Oswald, instead of jumping conventionally, had coiled his legs like springs, tucking his knees toward his chin while balancing upside-down in midair.
A flaming kick erupted skyward, like a pillar of fire aiming to tear through the heavens.
(Wind—!)
This won’t end here.
He won’t let him escape!
If Oswald’s kick was going to blow Kian’s head off, then Kian would smash Oswald’s face in first—hurling a shockwave of wind from the tip of Windsong Blade.
The two warriors exchanged potentially lethal strikes in a mere instant.
Windsong Blade’s razor wind barely managed to carve into Oswald’s forearm, his shadow clone absorbing most of the blow.
Meanwhile, Oswald’s flaming kick shattered Rufna’s ‘Wall’ defense, slamming into Kian’s chest with devastating force.
”Ngh—”
”Guh…!”
Kian’s breath caught in his throat.
Hot flames burst from the chest of Nightshade’s coat.
Despite having Rufna’s martial arts techniques applied to her, his skin was seared and charred.
(What power! If I hadn’t been reinforcing, I would have been finished…!)
He’s thrown into the air, and below, Oswald is gripping his holy sword and gathering strength in his knee for a pursuit.
Just as he was about to turn Windsong Blade to defense and thrust it out, Natra appeared from the side like a whirlwind and knocked Oswald’s body away, pushing him back towards the stairs.
”────”
Natra’s eyes twisted in pain as their blades clashed— Oswald’s heat seared into her flesh.
Her wrist and right foot, planted firmly on the ground, ignited in flames.
For a Night Wraith, fire was a mortal enemy.
”Fall back, Natra!” Kian commanded.
He lunged forward.
Unlike her, he was human—and with Maribel’s twin rings snug around his pinky fingers, merely drawing close to Oswald wouldn’t set him ablaze.
Rufna’s conjured marble spear surged forward, aiming to impale Oswald.
But before it could strike, he repelled Natra with a violent blast and ‘Leaped’ away.
Kian cut off his escape, appearing midair in his path.
Oswald barely had time to raise his guard before Kian slammed him into the staircase.
But it only stalled him for an instant.
Oswald kicked off the ground, his blade arcing toward Kian as he ascended—forcing the battle to the upper steps.
* * *
(Strong)
Dodging the Dark Elf’s spear, deflecting Kian, then jumping over ‘Thread’s attacks and dodging them one after another.
Oswald, while displaying a fiery dance, plots his victory.
(Stronger individually than Sarah Nakash and the others, but their teamwork is lacking. Also, the enemy has 2 Night Wraiths that are weak to fire, and a vampire wearing leather armor. My attacks should be fatal no matter what they receive)
Especially Night Wraiths, just by getting close will scatter their magic power and they’ll start burning intensely.
”Yeah!”
He swings his holy sword horizontally, imbuing it with blast fire.
Landing in front of Kian and Natra like a bird of prey, Oswald blasts the two who are charging at him with a blast wind from his fire attack, sending them flying.
The male and female swordsmen, as expected, evade it, melting into the night, and dance left and right.
(Repeatedly firing the Sun’s magic sword to burn away the familiar seems good, but the firepower is clearly declining.)
Dodging Kian’s sword and parrying Natra’s long sword with a holy sword, Oswald furrowed his brow.
He generates flames in his right hand to deter Kian, but even that is smaller and weaker than usual.
(It’s probably due to Owl’s barrier, but I can’t imagine how much the Sun’s magic sword’s power has decreased. If we recklessly exchange blows here, even if we were outmatched in power, Aisha and the others fighting in the back would be hit by the powerful strike of the Windsong Blade.)
Dodging, parrying, and sometimes repelling the fierce consecutive attacks of the girl with the Kitsune mask, he gauges the distance.
A scream of wind is heard from behind, and he intuitively jumps to avoid it.
”Uwaaa!”
In mid-air, he draws 2 circles with the holy sword.
In the darkness of the night, 2 blooms of red slashes appear.
He repels the advancing girl.
However, he couldn’t avoid the shaman’s ‘threads’ and rolled on the ground, spraying blood from his entire body.
Seeing an opening, the girl with the Kitsune mask charges in.
”────! No, milady!”
(It’s too late!)
Oswald took a deep breath and then exhaled sharply.
As if blowing out a candle flame.
What seemed like a trivial action instead produced a dragon’s breath-like surge of fire.
Fire Release Shot────.
It is unleashed onto the upper body of the girl with the Kitsune mask, who was about to launch an attack.
”Guh”
Natra raised her sword-arm to shield her face.
Oswald’s golden eyes widened—blazing with intensity.
(O Sun Demon Phoenix, answer my call!)
A roaring inferno erupted around him.
Oswald’s magic surge wasn’t just an outpouring of power—it was a technique, an attack and defense in one.
The scabbard of the Holy Sword of the Sun granted him an ability so overwhelming it bordered on absurdity.
As Kian charged forward, Oswald slashed the air with his golden gauntlet.
From the darkness, three flaming gashes—like the talons of a fire dragon—tore through the ground, rising toward the sky.
A five-meter-high pillar of fire flared to life, halting Kian’s advance for a single instant.
By the next moment, he would undoubtedly extinguish it with Windsong Blade—
But that one moment was all Oswald needed.
