 ”Disappear…!”

 ”—!!”

As Natra shielded her face and staggered back, Oswald lunged forward with his right foot.

 This wasn’t a sword attack.

Just stomping on the marble floor unleashed a fan-shaped blast of searing heat, scorching the ground beneath her with a blazing visual effect.

 ”Ugh… aaaaagh!!”

For her, Oswald’s flames were far deadlier than when she was human.

Now engulfed in fire, Natra struggled to extinguish the spreading flames using her magic power release, rolling backward to escape.

 (Missed…)

Had it been daylight, she would have burned to death on the spot.

But with his weakened firepower, his attack failed.

His magic surge lasted only an instant.

Without the sun, the scabbard took longer to recharge its magic power.

Oswald knocked aside the approaching Windsong Blade and immediately countered, aiming for Kian’s neck.

But Kian dodged right, evading the strike—and in the same motion, reversed his blade toward Oswald’s wrist.

Oswald pulled back, their swords clashing.

A sharp metallic screech rang out.

 ”…Nghhh…!”

 ”Oooooh…!!”

Kian’s black eyes burned with murderous intent.

His coat-clad arms swelled to twice their size, pressing forward with immense force.

 Not human strength.

 A vampire’s.

The thought surfaced in Oswald’s mind.

(He’s exchanging blows with me—without burning? How? Windsong Blade? No…)

His gaze shifted to Kian’s fingers—

Two small rings on his pinky.

The same high-quality anti-magic gear Maribel always wore.

(So Maribel gave him her protective rings… That’s why he can fight me in close quarters without burning.)

Unlike the two Night Wraiths, Kian didn’t have a natural advantage against fire.

But with flame resistance added to his already overwhelming strength,

 —His preparations were flawless.

”Using magic like a vampire while

retaining human traits…! So that’s the true source of your strength, Kian!”

 ”Aaaaaah!”

Without needing words, he poured power into his sword.

 (‘Shadow’──)

He created a clone that had once perished.

 Kian’s eyes widened.

Just as he was about to push back with his holy sword, the shaman interfered again. What a pain—if she’d just stuck to healing the Kitsune-masked woman, this wouldn’t be such a hassle.

 Kian was knocked back.

Threads shot toward him from every direction, forcing him to dodge and weave through the attack.

He arched his back, leaping into the air, spinning around. With one quick move, his holy sword cut through the threads in a perfect cross.

The pressure was intense, but even in the dark, he could blow away this much magic power.

 ”Ooooooh!”

 A blast of flame.

The holy sword’s sheath responds to Oswald’s cry and grants him more magic power.

The maximum magic power release blasts away Rufna’s ‘Shot’ system attacks and even sets Kian’s armor, which should have a ring of protection, ablaze.

 ”Daaaaaaa!”

 The dance of flames continues.

Oswald, grinding his muscles, charges at the retreating Kian, covered in flames.

 ”Master!”

(That’s not enough to stop him!)

 ”────!”

He shatters the ‘Wall’ and sends his holy sword flying toward Kian, who is engulfed in flames.

 Just fast and strong.

The powerful blow chips a piece off Windsong Blade’s edge.

The fragments scatter behind Kian like tears of steel, glowing orange in the sunlight.

A shadow that was created late, a phantom shadow, slips past Windsong Blade’s defense and falls above Kian’s head.

But it is intercepted by Natra’s recovered long sword.

 ”Ra──!”

 ”…!” “Gu────!”

 She parries.

 Strongly, gracefully.

The additional blast effect of the flames engulfs Natra again.

Oswald, having bounced back the swordsmen, jumps in a flash to the top of the stairwell.

The dark elf shaman reappears in the distance.

Kian and Natra, who had been thrown off balance, prepare to take a defensive stance.

(The platforms have aligned. Aisha and the others are out of the ‘Shot’ line! Now! This is the only chance!)

Oswald’s magic power release this time was different from before.

A holy sword’s sheath shines golden before his body.

Inserting the holy sword into this will make it the Sun magic sword.

Wielding it in the drawn state will unleash a magic sword strike that fires a beam of golden light at the opponent.

 ”────””…!”

The enemy sensed the powerful attack coming.

Kian leaped backward, a white wind enveloping his Windsong Blade.

 Oswald bared his teeth.

 ”Awaken, Phoenix!”

He thrust the holy sword into its scabbard with a metallic *clack*.

Grasping the hilt, he raised the sword into a high guard.

No one could stop him now.

If they came at him, he would obliterate them.

 ”Cry, Windsong Blade!”

Twenty meters away, Kian’s magic sword glowed with wind as he stood with the south building behind him.

Natra and Rufna layered reinforcement enchantments behind him.

 ”Oooooh!”

The golden radiance as he swung the blade.

He stomped, cracking the marble floor and scattering a blast of wind around him.

 Oswald roared.

 ”Burn it all! My Sun──!”

* * *

From Kian’s point of view, Oswald’s figure with the Sun magic sword raised high looked like a hero from ancient myths.

The Sun magic sword, created by Owl, stretched straight towards the night sky like a golden pillar connecting heaven and earth.

It was as if a golden pillar connected the heavens and the earth.

 (Within Owl’s unfolding ‘night’…)

Kian narrowed his eyes, gathering his energy.

This power surpassed the limits of what any human could wield.

Even dragons or devils couldn’t handle the full power of that magic sword.

That golden light wasn’t meant to kill humans.

It was a weapon created by the gods to reduce something bigger and stronger to dust in a single blow.

 ”Oooooh!”

Behind Oswald, a giant Phoenix, its belly filled with the sun, materialized.

Windsong Blade, in comparison, recalled the form of a smaller ‘Wind-Eating Varglips’.

The roars of the two colossal birds echoed.

In this instant, Natra’s swordsmanship and Rufna’s magic couldn’t interfere.

Only Kian and Oswald can fire a blow to tear the monsters of the Kamiyo era.

(This isn’t good, we’re clearly losing in power!)

Before him was a golden radiance, while his silvery beam was evidently thin and fragile.

But he had no choice but to act.

If he didn’t hold his ground with the Windsong Blade, both Natra and Rufna would be reduced to dust.

”Burn it all away! My sun──!”

 ”…! Rage on, storm──!”

Magic swords swung down almost simultaneously.

The flames of the sun and the silver flash were unleashed toward each other.

A high-pitched sound rang out, piercing the ears.

 Gold and silver clashed.

The two radiant swords pushed against each other, until slowly, the golden light began to engulf the beam of the Windsong Blade.

 ”…! Ahhhh!”

”May the protection of God Azrael be upon us…! Deliver it!”

A hot wind scorched his cheek.

The arm thrust forward felt as if pushed back by a strong current of water.

The golden light was like the sun.

It inexorably advanced, looking to swallow the fool who defied the sun.

He tried to scream, but his voice was drowned out.

Instead, the intense heat burned his throat, sending a wave of agony coursing through him.

 Even so, he shouted.

 For victory.

As proof of his fighting spirit, a roar erupted.

Rufna and Natra expanded their ‘Wall’.

They were shielded from the blast.

But the golden light that had swallowed the strike of the Windsong Blade was already closing in on them.

 They roared.

 Pushing back.

His body felt as if it were burning up.

It was already ablaze from his fingertips to his arms.

 He focused his energy.

 Countering.

 He shouted.

The Windsong Blade also let out a scream.

 ”Aaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!”

 ”…! Damn it!”

Facing the approaching golden light, Natra dove in with her longsword.

She poured all her magic power into the blade and swung down with fierce determination.

The sun’s strike, which had been countered by the blow of the Windsong Blade, was split in 2 by the release of her energy (ki).

 She cut through the sun──.

Natra gritted her teeth, glaring ahead as her body ignited like never before.

The long sword in her hand, as if its role had ended, was dripping away in a red-hot stream onto the ground.

 ”Miladyyy!”

 ”Hah!”

Realizing he had been cut and his magic sword’s blast deflected, Oswald pierced through the flames and moved with a ‘Leap’.

Rufna deflected the holy sword swung down to Natra and enveloped Oswald, who had leaped in with consecutive ‘Thread’ shots.

 He had nowhere to escape──.

 ”────”

A future where blood spurted from Oswald’s entire body was seen.

 The timing was perfect.

 However.

Once again, his golden eyes opened wide, and an immense magic power was released from his body.

 (The sun──!)

 Not just Kian.

Natra and Rufna had their eyes wide open as well.

 That was another sun.

 The star of the earth.

 He was no longer human──.

As if mocking those who faced his blade, Oswald’s magic power release, accompanied by a fiery visual effect, completely erased Rufna’s ‘Threads’.

And Rufna, who had taken an unfavorable stance to save Natra, was deeply cut from the shoulder.

 ”Guaaahhhhh!”

 ”Rufna! ──Oswalddd!”
