Glancing down at his chest pocket, Kian realized that the ‘glasses’ that were supposed to be there had vanished without a trace.
Kian spoke to the back of the blonde girl who was staring down Oswald.
”Could it be──’glasses’?”
”────”
The girl didn’t respond, instead carelessly stabbing the Crimson Cursed Sword she held into the roof.
”────!”
In a flash, countless black, thorny shadows surged from beneath Oswald’s feet, attempting to impale him from all directions.
The young man of the sun tried to ward them off with a blast of holy fire from his sword, but the shadowy thorns, even as they were engulfed and disintegrated by the flames, increased in mass and pursued the retreating Oswald.
”Damn…”
”Kian!”
The girl shouted.
It was the voice of the woman he had met at the beginning of their month and a half adventure.
Though it was the girl’s voice, it carried a strangely mature resonance.
”This one cannot stay in the physical realm for long! ────Fight once more, with your own strength!”
”Really…? Me?”
”Oooooooh!”
”────!”
Bursting through the thorny shadows, the golden youth launched himself like a cannonball.
The blonde girl took a step forward and deflected Oswald’s overhead strike, redirecting his force to the side.
As Oswald slipped past her, he turned with the ferocity of a wild beast and launched another attack.
A powerful Impact Strike that could shatter the footing was parried, but she was forced to step back, her slender legs sinking into the roof.
But it was just for a moment.
She quickly counterattacked, aiming for Oswald’s feet.
As he leaped over the girl to evade, she stood firm, protecting Kian behind her.
”Ugh…”
”Tsk…”
The blades clashed with intense sparks, but unlike the Windsong Blade, the Crimson Cursed Sword did not chip.
Was it because the wielder was skilled?
Or was it the weapon that was so strong?
”…!”
The girl gritted her teeth and unleashed every ounce of magic power within her.
As a result, her body began to crumble into particles of light, but she pressed on regardless.
Twenty flowing strikes were unleashed.
The girl’s arms, which had risen like a magical bird, wavered as they moved through space.
”────!!!!”
Sparks flew through the night.
Oswald’s eyes narrowed as he deflected the attacks with his holy sword, his movements a blur.
”Fwoosh…!”
With a sharp intake of breath, Oswald dodged the thrust and unleashed a torrent of flames towards the girl.
She was engulfed in the fire and seemed to be consumed by flames, but she ignored the pain and slammed her shoulder into Oswald’s stomach.
All her strength ── but it was just a child’s rush.
He must have underestimated the force of it, for Oswald had taken the blow head-on.
”Guh!?”
In an instant.
His body was thrown back, recoiling as if struck by a powerful force.
”Kian! Again!”
After pushing Oswald back, she turned around without hesitation.
Her body was crumbling away like smoke, but she thrust a Crimson Cursed Sword towards Kian.
With a fiery intensity in her crimson eyes, she pleaded with Kian.
”Give it another try! You can do it! I will fight alongside you!”
”‘Glasses’…!
”Use it! One of my blood magic weapons!”
The crimson blade of the sword was already sheathed.
It was a beautiful scabbard with an intricate design of black and gold.
A white cloth was wrapped around it.
She thrust the weapon into Kian’s hands and faded away like a ghost.
”This one’s knight will not suffer a second defeat. Use your swordsmanship to the fullest and defeat Oswald! Go, Kian! Kian Vahid!!!”
”Wooowoooo!!!”
”────! Aaaaaahhhh!!!”
From behind the fading shadow of the girl, Oswald, who had been hiding in the roof, leaped forward.
Kian bared his teeth and drew the cursed blade from its sheath, handed to him by the girl.
The sound of the overlapping blades is clear all the way through.
Kian was competing with Oswald from close range.
Oswald’s golden eyes glisten.
”You’re pulling off one strange technique after another…! Watching you is never boring!”
”…Hah!”
”Ugh…!”
The cursed sword fit perfectly in Kian’s hand.
The coldness and resistance of the cloth felt like it was all designed for Kian to wield the blade.
This sword is incredibly suited for dance swordsmanship.
”────”
The tide of battle shifted.
Kian unleashed his ‘domain’ and swiftly stepped into Oswald’s range.
The cursed blade was enveloped in pale, bloody smoke.
The strange smoke brought about a transformation.
The golden eyes of the sun’s youth widened.
His arm, poised to strike, hesitated.
It was as if he was mesmerized, his gaze flickering unnaturally.
His lips moved slightly, whispering “Sister.”
”…Hah, ────ah, …!”
Kian’s arm grew hazy.
The sword he had just seen from behind was now being unleashed by the girl.
As if a shadow were lifting, Kian loomed over Oswald, pouring the surging killing intent into his blade, releasing a flurry of sword strikes like a thunderbolt.
Just a simple slash.
Yet it was an unyielding, well-trained cut, devoid of malice.
In the false darkness of the night, the crimson blade of the cursed sword traced a clear arc.
”…Hah…!”
Oswald defended himself.
With Kian’s strikes not being easy to dodge, even if he avoided one blow, the next and the one after that would come relentlessly.
Amidst the 20 successive strikes, he managed to counter a few, but they were all evaded by Kian, who transformed like mist.
Though Kian took some damage, with burn-like scars left behind, he retaliated with a lethal counterattack aimed at Oswald’s vital point.
At the end of his relentless attacks, Oswald couldn’t handle the diagonal slashes coming from both sides and leaped back with blood spraying from his shoulder.
”────!”
”Awaken, Phoenix!”
At Oswald’s call, a golden sheath appeared.
Kian bit down, frustrated.
