Chapter 557 Liz’s Team – 20th Floor (Part I)
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
(Hiroya’s POV)
On the 20th floor, I can’t help but think we might be nearing the bottom.
Even though the Light Goddess Frejya isn’t sealed away, I had a hunch that the clue known as the ‘God-Slayer’ is hidden within this level.
”Considering how far we’ve come, we’re almost directly beneath the Raetia Mountains.”
Martina, who leads the charge, seems to share my thoughts.
”If that’s the case… it’s either here or the next floor…”
At Liz’s murmured words, everyone held their breath.
It wasn’t fear that gripped us.
Each of us was steeling ourselves, a new sense of determination washing over the group.
So far, we’d already encountered a pack of ‘Wandering Monsters’ centered around Lesser Demons 4 times on this level, yet there was no wasted movement among us.
We effectively utilized the wide corridors, with both the vanguard and rearguard executing their attacks with precision.
It was clearly the result of our leader Liz’s strategies and everyone’s rigorous training.
”When it comes to demon types, my attacks tend to be a beat too slow… it’s infuriating.”
Simona grumbled beside me.
”With your weapon, Simona, effective hits need an Enchantment.”
Simona wielded a Greatsword.
Its sheer weight packed a tremendous punch, but it was still a conventional weapon.
Unfortunately, it was ineffective against demons and their regeneration abilities.
I wield Yamikirimaru, Asuka wields Kansenmaru (which means “to pierce”), and Martina has the pair of short swords she found in the Great Labyrinth.
By the way, of the 4 blades, Noriss possesses 2 that enhance ‘Protection’ and ‘Detection’, while Martina lovingly named hers ‘Spirit’ and ‘Wind’, granting her ‘Undead Efficiency’ and a boost in ‘Agility’.
Dorothy’s Iron Claw is a standard weapon, but since Dorothy can enchant it herself, it can adapt to different monsters.
”I can either use my own magic or score some good loot… tough choice,” she mused.
”If we find some good ore, Aluda and the others could always forge it for us.”
Halfway through the line, Aluda called out to Simona.
”R-Really?”
Simona turned back, her face lighting up with joy.
”Speaking of which, Meluda’s group hasn’t made any weapons that big yet. Maybe we could try it out with your weapon, Simona.”
”A test run!”
Simona laughed and playfully nudged Meluda for the light-hearted comment.
It seemed everyone was in great spirits, enjoying the moment.
”No joke, Aluda’s grandpa has taught us enchantment magic too, so if we find some good ore… I’ll make you something when we get back,” Aluda chimed in.
Simona beamed at Aluda’s words, her smile genuine and bright.
”I’m counting on you!♡”
With a light step, Simona walked ahead of me.
It felt like our clan was truly blessed to have such a skilled blacksmith in the ‘family.’

At the end of the wide, straight corridor, there were doors straight ahead, to the right, and to the left.
Martina began checking the left-hand door first.
”All 3 rooms are occupied. The one straight ahead is bigger than the others. I sense 3 large monsters… probably ‘Cyclopes’ on this floor,” she explained.
Everyone nodded in understanding at Martina’s description.
”Two are on the left side, and 3 on the right. Both have demon presences,” she added.
”What should we do? Should we take them all out?”
Upon hearing Martina’s assessment, Asuka turned to Liz for her input.
”Let’s deal with the troublesome ones first. Either way, we’ll have to face whatever’s in the rooms ahead.”
Liz glanced at the front door, contemplating their next move.
”Alright, then it’s the front door.”
I stood in front of the door.
Next to me was Dorothy, with Simona and Asuka following closely behind.
”Vanguard’s ready. ──Martina, as usual, open the door and slip inside. Stay hidden and wait for my signal to attack the enemies.”
Martina nodded at Liz’s instructions and opened the door.
Inside the wide hall were 3 One-Eyed Demons, just as Martina’s Detection had indicated.
(Not a bad opponent. Hiroya’s meal.)
’Hmm. I’ll take the recoil.’
Without hesitation, I unleashed Hiroya’s power and charged into the room, aiming for the middle One-Eyed Demon.

The One-Eyed Demon I was facing was over 3 meters tall.
It held a double-headed axe in its hand and, upon confirming my presence, swung the weapon upward with lightning-fast speed.
(Asuka’s dealing with the left one, Simona’s got the right, and Dorothy’s…)
”Physical Boost!”
Just like Simona, she used Physical Boost magic.
(Then, I’ll instantly take down this enemy in front of me and support Asuka…)
I lightly dodged the downward swing of the double-headed axe and leaped forward with a swift movement.
The floor was pulverized by the immense force of the axe, but I was already leaping towards the One-Eyed Demon’s throat, so it didn’t affect me at all.
The One-Eyed Demon’s massive eye locked onto me, but the enemy was completely defenseless.
It was powerless against me as I approached.
(Got it…!)
