He didn’t flinch when he learned about my ability. If it’s him, I can see him aligning himself with His Majesty, acting as my representative to smooth things over.
I was starting to rethink my opinion of Aldo.
Deep down, he was a dreamy idealist, hating the corrupt nobles and plotting to revamp the Kingdom with a boyish sense of justice. Yet, his actions were calculated to the extreme, making him seem competent.
But he also had a slight recklessness that came with his youth.

”Not yet, my friend. You can’t be my partner until you take over the Dracul family.”
Aldo looked at me dumbfounded, as if I had just taken the wind out of his sails.
”Hehehe, I’m impressed by your shrewdness, Kent. Even after accepting the reward from Rulah, you’re not guaranteeing your cooperation. That’s why teaming up with you is bound to be a thrill!”
I decided to hold off on lending my support until Aldo took over the Dracul family. I needed to see what he was truly made of.
If he had the grit to oust his father and seize the house on his own, I would gladly help fulfill his ambition──and keep myself safe in the process.
Just then, the door swung open with a loud crash.
”Young master! It’s urgent! The northern fortress has fallen! Lord Gwain’s fate is unknown! The Gertroud army has taken the fortress and is now advancing south!”
An elderly man, whom I referred to as the butler, panted heavily as he barged in.
”Impossible… The Gertroud army took the northern fortress? How could they lose under Lord Gwain’s command! Gertroud only has 30 thousand troops! How could they lose with their 50 thousand holed up in the fortress! What about Fabulanova?”
”My lord, please remain calm. The army of Black Dragon Dukedom, led by Lady Fabulanova, was unable to join forces with Lord Gwain due to a blockade by Gertroud’s forces. It seems the enemy has also engaged in some strange transaction.”
Hearing the report from my aide, I immediately turned to Milly for instructions.
”Milly, request reinforcements from my father-in-law. Also, reach out to Kondrad! I have a bad feeling about this. Unfortunately, I need you to leave the Monster Hunting in the South District’s defense to the Monster Hunters while we move our forces to the Capital City. Of course, the new head of the Dracul family should ensure our safety along the way.”

Aldo looked visibly puzzled by the sudden call to arms.
Milly nodded and signaled to the shadow guards.
”Yeah, I just can’t shake this feeling. There’s a chance Gertroud might get close to the Capital City. I’m sorry, but Aldo, you’ll need to move quickly to secure control of the Dracul family. Right now, I want to gather our forces in the Capital City.”
I pictured Gertroud’s forces advancing on the Capital City.
That monster harbored the soul of the first Demon Lord.
It wasn’t guaranteed that Fabulanova would come out on top.
”My lord! Lord Kent’s concerns aren’t entirely unfounded. We’ve just received word from Poplar that Gertroud’s army has grown to over 70 thousand and is marching south.”
”S-Seventy thousand?! Have most of the troops holed up in the fortress actually come out?!”
”No, it seems that other than Gertroud’s personal guard of ten thousand and another thousand led by a general named Nokin, the rest are all Living Dead!”
They’ve managed to churn out a massive number of Living Dead… they really are setting out to crush Gwain’s army to secure their aim of getting me… this might be worse than I thought…
”We can’t just sit around, can we? I got it, Kent. I’ll have the Dracul family in our grasp and be able to meet with Your Majesty by tomorrow night. It’d be great if you could come along too. With Lord Blackdagger’s approval, there’ll be fewer nobles opposing us on the surface.”
”Sounds good. I’ll wait until tomorrow night. But after that, I’m going to do things my way.”
”You still underestimate my abilities, huh? Well, no matter. Tomorrow night, I’ll come to pick you up as the head of the Dracul family, so be ready, okay? Jiiya! Quickly, return to the mansion and gather the retainers! We’re going to launch the takeover now!”

Aldo dashed out of the room alongside the butler.
His quick movements were surprisingly agile for his chubby frame.
