Volume 7 Chapter 11 (Unwanted Story) Daughter Of The Gods, Feria

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

This is the route that wasn’t chosen for the main story.

 *Kent’s Perspective

As I unleashed my deadly Divine Magic, I emerged from a mass of black mist to see a man who bore the same likeness as the statue in the Magician Guild’s garden.

His long black hair was tied back, and his black eyes fixed on me, while a dark mist rose from his tightly toned, pale body.

At a glance, I knew it was Orphée Bleu.

The others, like Milly and Lina, were also bewildered to see a man standing there who looked just like Orphée Bleu.

”Kent… did you do it? Is that man Gertroud? It doesn’t look like him, does it?”

Since a good number of the Living Dead had been wiped out by my ‘Divine Thunderbolt,’ Milly seemed to think that Gertroud had been killed by the magic.

 ”…”

”But that guy looks just like Demon Lord Orphée Bleu… Who is he?”

Orphée Bleu noticed me and flashed a sinister smirk.

It felt like a block of ice was pressed against my spine, and my fear intensified.

His aura of absolute strength made me shrink back.

…This guy is Orphée Bleu himself… the original Demon Lord Orphée Bleu…

Orphée Bleu started walking towards us.

A soldier from Akebus’s team tried to stop him by thrusting his spear, but he was blown away like a piece of meat, raining down on us.

”Wh-what a monster. Everyone, protect the master! Don’t let that man get close! Surround and take him down!”

Sensing the man’s strength, Akebus also took up his bow and ordered his men to encircle Orphée Bleu and take him down.

However, the result was a tragic case of friendly fire.

It seemed that Orphée Bleu had charmed the soldiers with Mental Magic, causing them to attack each other.

”Wait! What are you doing! Aim for the man! Gugh”

A spear’s tip pierces the side of Akebus, who had been giving instructions to his subordinates.

It was his aide, Schwein, standing next to him, who did the stabbing.

”Schwein… why are you trying to kill me…”

”To protect the master! Sir Akebus! Why did you betray him! Where has Godard’s pride gone!”

The man called Schwein seemed to fall under Orphée Bleu’s magic, implanting the illusion that Akebus was trying to betray and kill me.

”Akebus! Get a grip! Kondrad, take command of Akebus’s squad!”

Once Akebus, gravely injured from the aide Schwein’s attack, could no longer lead, the chaos within Akebus’s squad worsened, and the fighting among allies began.

Orphée Bleu, watching this unfold as he walked, called out to me with a laugh.

”Hey! Kent, it’s been a while! I’ve given your subordinates a little education! They’ll soon become the soldiers and commanders for my Celestial Kingdom’s invasion! I’ve gone easy on them! Kukekekee!”

The Orphée Bleu I met again seemed to have increased in madness compared to our last encounter.

”Orphée Bleu! Stop it right now! Your goal should be me! The soldiers don’t matter!”

”Still as naive as ever. Are you really going to risk your life over just a soldier? Well, that’s fine by me. As long as I get your body, your soul can be discarded like trash. If you don’t want your subordinates to die, then come to me alone.”

Upon hearing this, Orphée Bleu stopped walking.

Kondrad, hearing this, issued instructions for a full-scale attack as the commander.

”We will protect Sir Kent! Everyone, eliminate that man with maximum firepower. Lady Miriallia! Give instructions to the Hunting Group as well! If you don’t, Sir Kent’s personality will lead him straight to that man!”

Milly, instructed by Kondrad, uses her authority as the Deputy Hunting Group Leader and my legal wife to issue commands.

”Alright then. Members of ‘True Crimson Bride’, ‘Black Bullet’, ‘Red Valkyrie’, and ‘Black Wing’, unleash an all-out assault on that man!”

 ”Commence the attack!”

As Kondrad’s hand swung down, countless bullets, arrows, and magic spells rained down on Orphée Bleu.

Even when the dust cloud rose and obscured the place where Orphée Bleu stood, the assault continued unabated.

 ”Ceasefire!”

Kondrad issued the order to stop the attack with a loud voice.

The area where Orphée Bleu had stood was battered to the point of altering the terrain.

Did we manage to do it…?

Even a Demon Lord might not be able to dodge magic guns and arrows, huh?

With half-hope, I gazed at the spot where Orphée Bleu had been.

Eventually, as the dust settled, Orphée Bleu stood there in an Immovable Stance.

In his hands, he held a black sphere of light.

”Hey, Kent. A surprise attack is pretty cruel, don’t you think? Well, that’s alright. I can show you some interesting magic. Lucky for you, this is a forbidden technique that was too dangerous to share with anyone──’Retribution’──but instead of explaining it, why don’t you experience it firsthand?”

With those words, Orphée Bleu raised the black sphere above his head.

As the sphere emitted light, the magic, bullets, arrows, and combat skills that had attacked him were sent back at their original assailants.

The Hunting Group members around me fell one by one, caught in the backlash of their own attacks.

 ”…Everyone…”

With a single strike from Orphée Bleu, the South District forces I led suffered heavy casualties, with many wounded, some critically, and those who were particularly unfortunate were killed.

”Stop it! Stop it! Orphée Bleu! What you want is my body, right? Don’t hurt anyone else!”

I was running towards Orphée Bleu.

If the battle continued any longer, not only Milly and the concubines but also the soldiers under my command could be wiped out.

”Kent! You’re too soft! Way too soft! Your subordinates are just disposable, right? You can always find new women!”

As I tried to rush towards Orphée Bleu, Lana trapped me with a barrier.

”Mr. Kent, please just watch. It seems that is the vengeful spirit of the first Demon Lord, Orphée Bleu. I can’t let you get involved with that. Lina, we need to eliminate that man.”

 Lana asked Lina for help.

 Lina rushed over.

”Sister… That guy’s magical power is incredibly strong… Just being close feels like magic element intoxication… And if it’s really Demon Lord Orphée Bleu himself, our magic won’t work on him.”

”But if we don’t do something, Mr. Kent will die! I can’t stand that!”

”Sister… I understand, I’ll borrow some of that magic. I’ll hit him with a massive blow.”

Nodding at Lana’s words, Lina began to chant her magic.

It was the fire attribute advanced-level magic, Magma Control.

”Gathered magic elements, become a raging lava and burn the enemy to ashes! ‘Magma Control’!!”

As the magic activated, lava surged from Orphée Bleu’s feet, enveloping his body, and the sound of sizzling flesh filled the air, but eventually, Lina and Lana’s magic ran out, and the lava solidified.

 ”Did we do it…?”

As Lana murmured while collapsing, the solidified lava shattered, revealing Orphée Bleu, unscathed.

”So, these are the ones who inherited the soul of the Demon King Zesna… You didn’t even use the power they gave you… Just a couple of split souls, huh? Guess I wasted my time. Oh well, I’ll just take back Zesna’s soul.”

Orphée Bleu lashed out at Lina and Lana with tentacles of black mist, impaling them in the chest and extracting a black, glowing hemisphere from each.

”Stop it! Stop it! Orphée Bleu! I’ll kill you! Don’t you dare touch them with those filthy hands!”

”Shut up! You’re nothing! A man who can’t even protect a woman can’t kill me.”

I could only watch as their life signs faded within Lana’s physical barrier.

Orphée Bleu combined the two black hemispheres, fragments of souls, and absorbed them into his own body.

”Zesna’s power is back… She was a cute one, too, but I couldn’t revive her. Well, I’ll just make another vessel after I get Kent’s body.”

Orphée Bleu’s magic surged as he absorbed Zesna’s soul.

”Sir Kent! This time, I’m gonna blow that guy’s brains out-nya! I have a special bullet-nya!”

Manon approached me, loading a new bullet into her sniper rifle.

Beatrice, the targeting expert, also came closer.

”We’ll avenge LanLan and Linny! Bea will never let he kill Kent!”

”Stop! Bullets won’t work on him!”

I tried to stop them, but they ignored me and got into sniper positions.

”Non-Non, the wind is a breeze! One hundred meters!”

 ”Here we go, nya!”

 PASS!

Orphée Bleu’s head exploded a hundred meters away.

 ”We did it-nya!”

But their joy was short-lived as Orphée Bleu’s head immediately regenerated.

”Hey, hey. My head is just for show, so don’t blow it off so cheerfully. And you, I implanted the soul of the Beast King Vankvish in you, so why are you using such a weapon? He was supposed to be unmatched in close combat… Another failure… This just ain’t working!”

Orphée Bleu unleashed the same tentacles once more, extracting a black light sphere from Manon’s chest.

Manon dropped her sniper rifle and was on the verge of death.

”Aaah! Non-Non! Give Non-Non back to meee!”

Beatrice, holding Elitzina, charged towards Orphée Bleu and began to fire bullets in rapid succession.

”Bee-bee, shut up! I hate the sound of a hungry ghost the most!”

Orphée Bleu unleashed what seemed to be a thick energy bolt towards Beatrice; the direct hit sent her tumbling across the ground, leaving her motionless, like a crumpled handkerchief.

”I beg you! Stop! Don’t kill any more of my beloved wives! I’ll give you my body if you want! Please!”

I dashed towards Orphée Bleu as Lana’s deployed Physical Guard vanished.

The 3 maids were holding me back.

”Sir Kent! We will take care of this, please regroup with Lord Arbalest’s army! If you survive, Sir Kent, we can manage somehow!”

Annabella came to propose a retreat to me.

Annabella knows that I could never abandon them and run away…

”No way, Lord Kent! If you give your body to him, you won’t be Lord Kent anymore. Then the meaning of me creating the Vermillionblade family will be lost. My child’s father must be Lord Kent! Lady Annabella, I’m counting on you!”

Aurelia drew her enchanted sword, releasing 3 strikes as she charged towards Orphée Bleu.

”Oh, now it’s a woman imbued with the soul of the Sword King Asura. Oh, you look just like Asura. I’m glad you’ve grown well! I’ll spare you and keep you. I’ll even let you bear children. Relax, the offspring will still be Kents.”

Orphée Bleu grinned devilishly as he dodged Aurelia’s strike.

Just as Aurelia narrowly avoided the tip of his sword, she lost her balance and found herself ensnared in a web-like trap that rendered her immobile.

 ”Aurelia! Let Annabella go! Aurelia!”

 ”No way! Sir Kent!”

”That’s right. Kent, you can’t go! I’ll take him down myself.”

Milly, sensing her life was in danger, radiated a dark aura from her body.

Drawing a dagger, Milly charged towards Orphée Bleu and plunged it into his heart.

However, even with the dagger embedded in his chest, Orphée Bleu calmly slapped Milly away.

”Virsina! Are you betraying me? I’ve spent thousands of years crafting this for you! Was that worthless man really worth it?”

Bleeding from her nose, Milly spat venom back at Orphée Bleu.

”I am Miriallia Blackdagger! Not Virsina! I’m Kent’s wife! Who would fall for a lunatic like you?!”

Gripping her dagger once more, she thrust it into his other side.

”You filthy whore! I came down here for you! And here you are betraying me, playing the wife of that scumbag Kento! What a joke! Enough! You’re a failure too; I’ll collect your soul and remake you!”

Orphée Bleu grabbed Milly by the throat with both hands, gradually tightening his grip.

 ”Guh, ahh!”

Milly’s face turned an ominous shade of dark.

It was clear she was struggling to breathe.

”Orphée Bleu! Stop! Let Milly go!”

I was held back from reaching Milly by Annabella, Ines, and Feria.

Soon, her flailing legs became still, and her arms hung limply by her side.

 ”Milly──!!”

After confirming Milly’s life signs had stopped, Orphée Bleu drove his tendril into her chest and pulled out her soul.

”Shoot! The form is spot-on, but the inside is a total dud! Virsina, I’ll revive you properly, you hear?”

Orphée Bleu caressed the black orb with fondness.

”In the end, only Asura turned out well… It’s tough, you know? Well, whatever. We’re short on time, so let’s just take Kent’s body, shall we?”

Orphée Bleu tossed Milly’s lifeless body aside and started walking towards me.

 ”A-a-a- Milly…Millyyy!!”

I ignored Annabella and Ines’s attempts to stop me and rushed over to where Milly had been thrown.

Milly, now lifeless, looked at me with vacant eyes.

A gruesome hole gaped in her chest, and she wasn’t breathing.

I hugged Milly and sobbed uncontrollably.

The reality that Milly, the person I wanted to protect most in this world, was lying here as a silent corpse was crushing me.

 This…this world…a world without Milly is meaningless… I don’t need this reality.

”Well, ready to die? It’d be a big help if you just kicked the bucket soon. My sister’s been cramping my style, you know? Once I get your body, I’m planning on making a new vessel, returning to the Celestial Kingdom, and turning my Supreme God sister into my pet, making her squeal for me.”

 Orphée Bleu stood before me.

”Why! Why the hell did you do this!”

”Just got rid of a failure. That woman, despite having Virsina’s soul, didn’t accept me, so I got rid of her. That’s all there is to it.”

 Orphée Bleu spoke calmly.

He spoke of Milly and the others as if they were mere objects.

He’s gone off the deep end…

”Well, that doesn’t matter, does it? You’ll just be sent back to your original world anyway, so just die already. Your reality is 35, single, unemployed, a virgin, and without a girlfriend. Just think of it as having a nice dream.”

If I were to be killed by Orphée Bleu like this, would my time with Milly and the others be treated as just a dream?

If that’s the case, a dream would actually be better…
