Volume 3 Chapter 19 Welcome To The Witch Dormitory! Ⅰ

”I’ve been listening to the story. …I agree to have Kian cast the ‘Blood Servant’ spell on me.”

”No, Your Excellency. It’s an incomplete transformation. It won’t put you under control; it’s solely for the enhancement of your body. The downside is… you may find yourself becoming aroused around me.”

”…That’s fine. At this crucial moment, I can’t just lie here any longer… I must meet with the cardinal tomorrow.”

”There’s no way you can face him in your condition, Manon! We’ll deliver the message on your behalf.”

”Just to be clear…, it’s not too late to negotiate with Lord Owl to release the curse once.”

Kian said this, but Maribel shook her head.

”That creature can’t understand our words.”

 ”────”

”Kian, I don’t think I mentioned it, but I’ve negotiated with Owl. Many times, in fact. But… he just looked puzzled and kept saying, ‘What’s wrong with being reborn as my kin?’”

 ”────”

”…And I keep dreaming of sucking the blood of everyone…”

Maribel wiped the smile she had shown in the salon from her face and stared seriously at Kian.

 Her voice trembled.

”This curse… It will strip me of who I am.”

’Well, yes, her perception of her former kind will likely change. Essentially, she’d just be a food bag with emergency rations. Her ability to empathize with others would drop to that… ah, primitive? level, like Tobal Cain.’

(A cold-hearted monster with Maribel’s intellect and beauty)

The Margrave territory seems likely to grow powerful, but a grim future looms ahead.

 Christy held Maribel’s hand.

”I understand your hopes, Manon. I’ll talk it over with Lucretia and then decide if we should ask Kian.”

 ”……”

 Maribel nodded slightly.

Christy looked up and locked eyes with Kian, who had been watching intently.

”I’ll give her some medicine and water, then let her sleep again. After that, Kian, come with me to the old Aisha estate. We have our lodgings there. I’ll wake Lucretia and share your story with her.”

After giving Maribel the medicine, Christy and she left the old Oswald mansion.

They greeted the guard, turned back, and headed south from the merchant district.

It was past 9 o’clock, but the town was still lit up with bonfires in various places, and bright lamps swayed in front of taverns and shops.

There were adventurers, here and there, dozing off by the side of the muddy, smelly road, clutching wine bottles in their hands.

 They looked like adventurers.

It’s good they are fearless, but if they fall asleep in the middle of a public road, they can’t complain if they get their money or lives taken.

After all, this is the capital of the borderlands, and even with the Knight order patrolling the streets, one can’t expect too much.

Kian walked through the town, shrouded in the early morning light, shielding the neighboring Christy.

Though they both kept silent, the atmosphere wasn’t bad.

In fact, it was even romantic.

After experiencing a bit of an adventure in the middle of the night, they veered off the main road from the merchant district and arrived in front of a large 3-story building with a grounds area about half the size of the Oswald mansion.

At first glance, it looked like a boarding house or something, but since Christy said, “Here it is,” it must be Aisha’s house.

What a surprisingly lavish mansion for a lieutenant.

But, it makes sense, since she was also handling some of Oswald’s banking operations and had her own merchant guild on the side.

As Christy walked up to the 4-story rectangular building, the gatekeeper opened the iron gates for them with a creak.

”What are you doing, Kian? Come on!”

”Speaking of which, what happened to Ms. Aisha?”

”She’s working as a forced laborer in the Westside garden. Her sentence is shorter than Oswald’s, you know.”

”I see. Well, Oswald will get 2 hundred years in prison unless he agrees to follow Her Excellency, right? That’s not a short sentence.”

”It was lucky we managed to seize part of Aisha’s assets too.”

Christy turned around in front of the fountain in the vast garden and let out a sigh.

”Without the ‘donation’ from her, we would have gone bankrupt ages ago. We couldn’t even collect compensation or penalties from the Nakash family.”

”I’ve heard somewhere that the head of the Nakash family──Sir Shajar was assassinated.”

”Yes, if the information is correct, he was taken out by someone after being dropped from the Twelve Divine Generals. In reality, that family is in shambles now. There’s no blood relative willing to inherit their debts along with their wealth, and we just got mud on our faces.”

That’s also the reason why Renaud has been stuck at Châtillon Fortress for the past month.

Kian was worried about whether Sarah and her mother had fallen into slavery, but given that this was the family that had mentally abused him, he felt a complex mix of emotions.

”There are ten Head magicians temporarily staying here. Lucretia’s room is right next to mine. We don’t talk at all these days.”

Christy says this while opening the entrance door.

The inside was pitch black, but as she stepped in, the magical stone on the ceiling flickered to life with a soft glow.

The second floor serves as living quarters for the Servants maintaining the rooms, while the third and 4th floors are said to be untouched.

According to Christy, the witches who were hired as successors to Natasha are all modest, ordinary folks, and serious types, chosen personally by Maribel.

No one is greedy enough to turn the best-view room into a living room and the others into storage──rather, they seem to be living quietly in the unobtrusive rooms on the first floor.

 ”Lucretia.”

Christy knocks on the second door in the corridor on the left side of the first floor.

She sensed a strong magic power approaching as someone inside walked over to open the door.

 ”Christina?”

Peeking out was the glasses-wearing witch, whom he’d seen in the salon, with an explosive personality.

Contrary to her strict appearance, she wore a cute pink nightgown.

She adjusted her red-framed glasses with her middle finger and raised a lamp she was holding in front of Kian.

”You… I believe I told you to leave, Lord Kian.”

”That’s true. But Christy is about to explain something important regarding Her Excellency.”

”Oh… it’s about the cursed mark, isn’t it? Very well, I’m listening.”

Lucretia peeked outside the door and glanced at the door to the inner room.

Assuming she wouldn’t be overheard, she leaned against the door and prepared to listen.

Christy smartly conveyed Kian’s examination results and the strengthening of Maribel’s body to the glasses witch.

 ”…Ah, I see.”

While scanning the documents, Lucretia nodded repeatedly after hearing the discussion.

Fidgeting with the bridge of her glasses and blushing slightly, it was after hearing about Kian’s semen being applied to Maribel.

She composed herself and glared up at Kian with determination.

”I cannot permit this. Applying a lower-rank Adventurer’s semen to Her Excellency… what if she becomes pregnant?”

”We can manage that with a contraceptive. Kian should have the ability as a warrior monk to make his semen infertile. We’re using it solely as a medicine.”

”However, it will tarnish Her Excellency’s pure body. What kind of negative impact could this have on future marriages?”

”It won’t break the membrane, and I don’t believe it will affect any magical purity.”

”So… Her Excellency has granted permission for this?”

 ”Surprisingly so.”

 Christy shrugged her shoulders.

 Lucretia adjusted her glasses.

”I can’t make a judgment right now. We should ask a vampire expert if there are truly no other methods──”

”Didn’t all the people we could contact fall through?”

”Oswald is still available. I’ll visit him in the prison again tomorrow.”

Lucretia said the words, but there was little strength behind them.

She was still a newly appointed Head Magician, and already uncertain in her role.

And now, just this evening, she’d witnessed her master collapse in front of a guest.

According to Christy, it was the first time Her Excellency had ever collapsed in the salon.

Lucretia must have finally begun to realize just how dire the situation was.

”Again? Lucretia, did you visit Oswald?”

”…Hmm. Yes, I went to see him right after leaving the office. But he just teased me and wouldn’t say a word! What’s with that blonde hair, anyway? Oh… I, I apologize! I got carried away!”

 ”N-no, it’s fine.”

”Yes, Ms. Lucretia. We all know Sir Oswald’s character. It’s not surprising he’d provoke you to anger.”

”Anyway, I can’t decide on my own. We need to discuss this with Baron Mankovitch and the other witches. We can’t just smear the seed of some unknown man on Her Excellency’s behalf──”

”Unknown? Kian is the former eldest son of the Vahid family. He’s like a ‘banished prince’ from a story.”

Christy retorted sharply, unable to hold back.

There was no time to halt her words.

As expected, the expression drained from Lucretia’s face, her arms still crossed.

 ”…What?”
