Chapter 105 Reached the 4th Floor

As we descended the stairs and arrived at the safety zone on the 4th floor, it was no surprise to find the Demiurge group waiting for us.
They didn’t look particularly menacing, but with only the Demiurge in sight on the 4th floor aside from us, that was about all we could expect──no doubt about it.
Next to the exit on the north side, nearly ten men and women were bundled up in blankets, sprawled out on the floor like they were having a sleepover.
Were they supposed to be on watch?
Two of them, sitting cross-legged and facing each other, were engrossed in a game of cards.
They must be pretty bored.
At first, the two didn’t notice us quietly making our way down the stairs, but as we slowly approached, one casually looked our way.
”Huh!? What the heck, you guys!”
With that shout, both of them jumped up in a flurry.
”Shh! If you yell like that, you’ll wake everyone up!”
Kijima-senpai raised a finger to his lips, signaling for quiet.
”Oh, uh… sorry!”
”…No, no, no! Hey, why are you following him!”
The two started to quiet down, but it seemed like they finally grasped the situation.
”Hey, wake up! We’ve got intruders!”
”The Vice President Sogahara’s party is here!”
At that, the guys scrambled to their feet, clearly startled.
”What? Intruders? That’s not what we wanted to hear! We were just taking down the boss and coming down!”
”Don’t mess with us! You were supposed to be exploring area 3A!”
”Just yesterday, and now you’re all the way down here…!”
There were 7 boys, including the two who had been awake.
Some were still rubbing the sleep from their eyes, but all of them stood ready, hurriedly grabbing wooden swords and clubs.
Four half-dressed girls clung shivering in blankets, huddled together on the ground.
”──I heard that Magara-kun and Shiraishi-kun’s party has been diving since yesterday too, but I wonder if they’re out exploring right now?”
”!! You… you’re not getting past here! It’s ours!”
The boys, weapons drawn, blocked the exit on the north side.
So they were investigating that area, huh?
It was all pretty straightforward.
”Help!”
Taking advantage of the distraction, the 4 girls took each other’s hands and rushed over to us.
”Oh! You guys!”
”W-Wait up!”
Brushing off the guys trying to stop them, the girls in their unremarkable uniforms clung to Sogahara-senpai.
”Oh, oh!?”
”Please help us!”
”We’re getting out of the Demiurge!”
”Please protect us!”
We stepped forward in front of Sogahara-senpai, spears in hand, me and Himeno.
”Tsk… Tsuchimiya, huh!”
The guys who tried to close in stopped dead in their tracks, their faces twisted in frustration.
”Hey! Give ’em back!”
The girls trembled at the loud voice of the man.
”That’s a bit harsh to say! You’ve got no right to stop them, and we’re not about to abandon students asking for protection!”
Saegusa-senpai lined up with us, sword at the ready, still in its sheath.
Katsura-kun and Hano-san flanked Sogahara-senpai on both sides, guarding the rear.
”The Student Council will take care of these kids. If you have something to say, we can discuss it with their consent.”
”Thank you!”
”I want to join Sogahara-kun’s harem!”
”Me too!”
Sogahara-senpai, his face pale, shot a glance at Kijima-senpai’s expression.
Even so, he turned a smile to the girls clinging to him and gave an order to his comrades.
”Higashimura-kun and Saegusa-kun, take these girls back to the Academy and hand them over to Tsukuba-kun’s squad.”
”Roger that.”
”──Hey, wait for us, don’t leave without us!”
The guys were brimming with killing intent, but they didn’t dare attack Sogahara-senpai, only watching with looks of bitter frustration as the girls boarded the displacement magic circle.
”Huh? That’s Kanetchi and Kenken! What are you two doing?”
Hano-san called out to the guys, noticing a familiar face among them.
Two male students standing in the back scowled, as if trying to hide.
It seems they’re acquaintances of Hano-san’s.
”What do you mean… it’s obvious if you look at them.”
”Are both of you in Demiurge? Why? You could totally get your fill of sex without joining an organization right now. What’s the benefit?”
”Shut up. There are reasons for everything.”
”Instead, what about you? Since when did you start caring about the Student Council?”
”It’s more about Tsucchi than the Student Council for me.”
Hano-san wrapped her arms around mine like it was a show, but with her iron chest plate, it wasn’t exactly comfortable──more like slightly painful.
”Seriously…?”
”Of all people, you’re with that Mad Dog… Are you okay?”
Rude, considering these guys were worried about Hano-san when I’m the one being put through hell.
Last night I was forced to drink from the recovery spring while restrained… Nah, let’s not go there.
”Tsucchi’s kind, so it’ll be fine! By the way, I heard Kibakura’s missing. What’s going on with that?”
”…!”
Hano-san cut in straight to the point, causing the men to gasp and stiffen up.
”You know that much…?”
”It’s not like we got told anything clearly either, so we aren’t up to speed on the situation.”
That definitely confirms Kibakura’s missing now.
Things are shaky, the organization isn’t well coordinated.
They must have gathered up scrubs since they are short on manpower.
”Hey, you guys. Don’t chatter away with the enemy.”
”Y-Yeah…”
”Sorry.”
The other party’s senior who seemed to be in charge sounded the alarm in a low voice, but he didn’t seem to realize they had already leaked key information.
”Hahaha! You two are getting scolded!”
”Shut up!”
”We’re enemies right now, so don’t talk to us! We’ll just get yelled at again!”
Ugh, the tension just vanished somewhere.
”Anyway, we want to explore the 4th floor too, but the east area should be fine, right?”
”No way! Go south!”
There are only 3 exits from this room: north, east, and south.
The south is the opposite direction from where these guys are exploring and don’t want outsiders.
”Oh come on? We don’t want to fight either, so we’ll agree to that for now.”
As Sogahara-senpai and the others walked away with their backs to us, Himeno and I also stepped back from the group of male students.
The guys glared at us, but they seemed relieved in a way.
They probably didn’t have the guts to stand up to Sogahara-senpai, who’s known as the strongest in the Academy, so they were just happy to get off easy.
Saegu-senpai returned shortly after.
”Tsukuba-kun was just here too, so I dropped off the girls.”
”Thanks. By the way, what about Higashimura-kun?”
”He said he’s going to buy a spear at the Voltic Shop. He’ll be back soon.”
It seems Higashimura-senpai was also inspired by Himeno.
The Voltic Shop is an item shop attached to the buyback counter, where items bought back in the results are sold for twice their buyback price.
It’s just that the shopkeep’s name is ‘Voltic,’ but for some reason, it’s become known as the Voltic Shop.
