*Arbalest’s Perspective
”Quenelra!!! What are you laughing at! Hurry up and make a list of all the relatives of the Noble families that joined this coup!”
”There was a woman who could slap old man’s face… hehe… but, that word isn’t necessary here──”
My right cheek, which had been freed from prison a day ago, had a dark blue handprint on it.
This handprint was made by Eclair, who I’ve known for a long time, but after she got me out of prison, she suddenly got angry and slapped me before leaving.
I don’t know why she got angry… maybe because I asked her to keep the rare alcohol for me at the shop…
I rub my sore right cheek and glare at Quenelra, who is laughing.
”Shut up. If you have time to talk, then hurry up and get to work!”
”Okay, okay. Be careful, old man, or you might get stabbed to death by that Big Sister of yours.”
”Quiet and work! Eclair isn’t that kind of woman!”
Quenelra starts to take out the Capital City Noble family ledger while laughing heartily.
His subordinates were also gathering at the Kingdom military headquarters in 2s and 3s.
It’s thought that the Kingdom military I was in charge of will be the most affected by this coup.
After all, about 8-tenths of the Noble families that joined the coup were military-related.
It’s impossible for His Majesty to be nice to those useless Nobles… but there might be some usable people mixed in among the relatives… but since I got caught early on, I have no say… should I send a quest to Kent to protect me…
We can’t afford to lose important people from the Kingdom military, which is already scraping the bottom of the barrel for talent.
Already, due to the Asura Clan’s favorable policy that has lasted for over ten years, the quality of Officers has been declining, and this coup will deal a fatal blow.
Maybe it would be better to give Officer Education to the officers who can be useful… Garvey from Kent also came from a lower officer rank… There might be good people hidden if we look for them…
”Anyway, you old man was really hated. The prisoner list that Kent sent has quite a few names from noble families on it. The Boldue family, the Müller family, and the Mirastra family are 3 big military nobles taking part, and there are also other old noble families like the Redwain family, the Magenda family, and the Northalan family, which has sent several generals.”
”…Is that true?”
”Yeah, unless Kent made a false report… Well, the subordinates of your son-in-law write these things too seriously, so I don’t think there are lies.”
The noble families mentioned by Quenelra were big nobles called Kingdom nobles, who had long been in control of the True Demon Kingdom army.
They were nobles who had teamed up with the military to pull out various interests and had survived until today.
The older brother, Gwain, had successfully secured the support of these Kingdom nobles to have His Majesty Shifa appointed as the Demon Lord.
Therefore, it was clear that they were quite powerful nobles even among the Kingdom nobles.
”If we take action against these 6 families, there is a possibility of another coup… there is.”
”Then, shall we execute all of them, including all your relatives, so that they don’t rot later? That’s going to be better soon.”
No one is a servant in the military and does not know the power of the 6 families.
Quenelra was also a long-time military position, so he should have known how strong their influence was.
”Are you idiot! You’re going to cause a second coup! If the same thing happens next, the country will be blown away.”
Although this coup has not caused much damage to the race, the Nobles, the heart of the country, are quite upset.
If the same coup occurred with such status, the country could have broken.
”But we don’t have that discretion. This time, His Majesty is in control of all sentencing decisions. It’s no wonder we’re so concerned.”
Quenelra says it like it’s no big deal, but right now, near His Majesty Shifa, there’s only Chancellor Aldo, who has some extreme ideas, and Kent, who doesn’t care about politics.
The two of them have one thing in common: they hate the bad Nobles who aren’t doing their job.
If His Majesty Shifa gets swayed by those 2 and starts punishing a bunch of Kingdom army Nobles, there’s a high chance of another coup happening.
”Well, but His Majesty will probably be a little more careful after this. If they can’t do that, they could die any time, ya know?”
”You idiot!!! It’s me and you who’d be in trouble if His Majesty died! If we get caught in a coup next time, our heads will be chopped off immediately!”
I don’t know if Quenelra is too calm or if he just doesn’t get how dangerous this is, but he’s acting super carefree.
Quenelra’s attitude is making me, like, go through Lila and start getting a stomachache.
If we try to mess with the 6 big Noble families of the Kingdom army, the ones we didn’t even touch when we reorganized the Kingdom army, I wouldn’t have enough lives… I didn’t even plan on making a big deal out of it, but Kent took prisoners as proof of the coup, and that backfired…
”But, well, there’s good news for you, old man. Boldue, Müller, and Mirastra have already sent a ton of bribes, asking for their family heads to be freed. Those guys are desperate to survive, huh? So, what do we do with the bribes?”
I thought Quenelra was just goofing off with paperwork, but he’d already started trying to win over the Nobles.
The documents Quenelra showed had the amount of the bribes from the Three Great Houses written on them.
But if that gets out, I’ll lose everyone’s trust.
”You idiot!! Kent already made the prisoner documents!! Knowing him, he’s already given the same thing to His Majesty!!”
DONDONG *[Sound of banging]* I slammed my fist on the desk, and the corner of the desk got dented.
”Old man. If you get too angry, your blood pressure will rise. You’re getting old, so just control yourself. Well, this will become top-secret material about the Triumvirate’s involvement in the coup. I’ll attach it to His Majesty’s files as information to consider.”
Quenelra had just attached the documents from earlier to His Majesty Shifa as evidence for sentencing.
Then, he calmly filed away their relatives’ information.
”Whoa, you. You’re too ruthless… How are you going to explain this to the Triumvirate? They think they’ll be released.”
”I don’t know about that. They sent the stuff themselves. Besides, I received it but didn’t touch it and sent it to the national treasury. If His Majesty Shifa is reasonable, he’ll just put the head of the family under house arrest. Think of it as ransom for their release instead of a bribe. It’s better than having their whole clan end up homeless.”
The man in front of me could have become a notorious con artist who shook the Kingdom if he hadn’t taken this job.
”With an underling like you, I can’t relax.”
”That’s what I told you when I was appointed Chief Logistics Officer: ‘Don’t underestimate the real me.’ You better not think you can live comfortably. Well, from now on, it’s all-nighters… My rest in prison was only one day.”
Quenelra stretched and started making documents to send to His Majesty Shifa.
I might have picked up a dangerous guy…
In this way, a list of nobles who participated in the coup, compiled mainly by Quenelra, led to a trial being held in the presence of His Majesty Shifa.

*Shifa’s Perspective
Arbalest and Quenelra, who were released, and Aldo were also present as the trial to decide the punishment of the nobles who participated in the coup was about to begin.
Thanks to Arbalest’s efforts, all the nobles who participated in the coup had already been captured 3 days after the coup occurred.
The nobles who were brought before me in the throne room were nervously looking around, awaiting the trial.
This is the end result of the Kingdom nobles…
They, who were losing their authority, looked around with expressions of cowering, more pitiful than slaves.
”Your Majesty Shifa… This time I also made many mistakes… Please forgive me.”
Aldo, who stands next to me, could do nothing in this coup, and he felt ashamed to have been rescued by Kent.
He even said he would give up his position as Chancellor, so I was trying to persuade him to stay.
Aldo is young, like me, and it seems he believes we should use this failure as a chance to grow.
”I have already forgiven you for that matter. Aldo, work even harder from now on. I will grow together with you.”
”I owe a great debt to Kent. I will repay this debt with interest for sure.”
”…You don’t have to repay it, really… Your Majesty, please don’t worry about it. I also think there are many points I need to reflect on this time.”
Kent, who was standing on the opposite side, was very troubled by the fact that he let Velis die in the end, and he generously helped his adopted daughter, Letticia.
Thanks to him, we have planned for a grand state funeral.
”Don’t cause trouble for Kent… Will you continue to serve me from now on?”
”That is a promise I made with Mr. Lord of Velis. I will do my duties diligently.”
Kent has already been promoted to the rank of Marquis as a reward for suppressing this coup.
It is an unprecedented speed of promotion, but the only title I could give him for his achievements was the Kingdom title.
Other than that, I just granted residency permits for the 20 noble female heads of families that Kent wanted to protect.
”I’m counting on you… I trust you.”
”Yes. Leave it to me.”
After finishing the conversation with Kent, Arbalest entered the throne room.
”Your Majesty Shifa! We have rounded up all those who participated in this coup. However, there are too many relatives, so we did not bring them along.”
Arbalest reported in a clear voice.
”Well, that’s fine. Then, let’s begin.”
I glanced through the documents created by Quenelra.
First, it is about the mastermind of the coup, Gilbert.
”Yes, sir! Then, if you don’t mind, I will read the documents.”
Arbalest began to read aloud in a loud voice.
”First, Gilbert Browning. This guy was the main person who planned this coup. He was working with Gwain and getting help from them while planning the coup. It looks like there was a plan to make Gwain the new Demon Lord, with him as the leader.”
Gilbert was brought before me.
He’d lost all the tough talk he had during the coup and was just trying to look pitiful to get me to forgive him.
”His Majesty… I’m really sorry. I was just tricked by Gwain! I’ll give back all my land and property. Please, let me join His Majesty’s army as a soldier!!”
”That’s pathetic!! Gilbert!! If you’re a KingdomNoble, you should know what it means to go against me! Do the honorable thing and kill yourself. But, I won’t destroy the Browning family. I’ll let your adopted daughter, Sarah, take over, so you can die in peace.”
Gilbert started screaming and making a scene.
”Noooo! I don’t want to die! I don’t want to die!”
