Volume 1 Chapter 11-2 Let’s Become Adventurers
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”But hey, TifTif. This guy doesn’t look like an adventurer at all. He looks like he’d run away from a goblin!”
Goblins?
Are there such monsters?
From the way they talk, they must be weak monsters.
Tifi, the receptionist, shakes her head calmly.
”Anyway, you can’t cause trouble here. If you do, you might get punished.”
”Tch, fine, I get it.”
The two reluctantly back off.
But they keep glancing at us from their table.
Their eyes on Lifia are creepy, like they want to devour her.
”I’m sorry, but the Adventurer Guild can’t interfere much in fights between adventurers. We can stop trouble inside, but be careful outside.”
”Got it, I’ll be careful.”
If something happens to Lifia, it would be bad.
Anyway, I finished registering as an adventurer.
I got a wooden tag.
The tag has “Taro” written on it.
This seems to be my ID as an adventurer.
Adventurers are ranked by their ability and trust, from gold, silver, bronze, iron, to wood.
So I start at the lowest rank.
I don’t know how far I can go with non-combat skills like Love Hotel, but I want to try.
”So, what quests can a wood-ranked adventurer take?”
”I recommend gathering herbs.”
”I’d prefer a quest to defeat monsters, please.”
Pulling weeds won’t level me up.
”In that case, how about getting rid of horned moles?”
Horned moles.
They dig into fields and eat the roots of crops.
They aren’t too dangerous and are the first monsters for new adventurers.
Since my skills aren’t for fighting, I have to start with these quests and build up my experience.
Lifia looks up at me with a worried face, but I nod lightly.
”Okay, I’ll take that quest.”

After leaving the Adventurer Guild, I walk through the lively streets of the capital with Lifia.
She gently grabs my sleeve.
”Master.”
”What’s wrong?”
Lifia whispers quietly.
”Those 2 guys from the tavern are following us.”
Are they the guys from the Guild?
I look back quickly.
I can’t see them in the crowd, but if Lifia says so, it’s true.
They were bad guys.
I’m sure they want to do something bad.
Maybe they think I have money because of my clothes, or maybe they want Lifia’s body?
Whatever it is, they are up to no good.
”Lifia, let’s hurry.”
”Yes.”
We walk faster, like nothing happened, to the back streets.
We turn a few times to hide and go into a small alley.
And then, a ‘Love Hotel’.
A red door appears.
We slip inside with Lifia and close the door quickly.
Suddenly, the noise outside is gone, and we are alone.
”Phew.”
I sigh and feel safe.
I open the menu and tap the outside view.
I can see the alley where we were, to check what’s happening.
’Hey, where did they go?’
’I don’t know.’
’Don’t be stupid, it’s a dead end!’
’I don’t care!’
The two guys are angry and looking around in the screen.
They seem lost and confused.
My skill makes a Love Hotel in another space.
When we go in, the door is closed from the outside.
They can’t follow us.
The two guys leave, still complaining.
”Hmm?”
Lifia is holding my arm.
She hides her face and is shaking, and won’t let go.
”I… I’m sorry, Master… Just a little longer, like this…”
Lifia’s voice is shaking.
She looks scared, not like herself.
She must have been really scared.
I understand.
She never met such bad guys before.
”Lifia, you were so brave.”
I gently hug Lifia, wrapping her small back in warmth.
I can feel Lifia’s warmth, and I can faintly hear her heartbeat.
Lifia also starts to breathe easier, sinking into my chest, feeling calm.
”It’s okay now. No one can come in here.”
”…Yes, thank you, Master.”
Lifia replies softly, and I nod quietly.
”By the way…”
After holding her for a while, I say when I notice she’s calmed down.
”Good job noticing. I had no idea.”
”Moo-Moo told me.”
Her spirit, huh?
I never thought that was possible.
To find only bad people in the busy street.
Not bad at all, actually.
”I see, that helped a lot. You did well.”
I gently pet Lifia’s head, and she smiles shyly with a little “ehehe.”
Seeing her smile, I finally felt truly relieved.
