”Kent!!! Why is your name on the list for the Beast King Tournament hosted by Elkisa?!!”
After finishing the Beast King Festival, where I had fun with the beast girls, I returned home the next morning.
I took so long satisfying the beast girls that it turned into an all-night party.
Just when I was about to bury myself in bed, Milly kicked the door open and barged in.
”Ah, hey, Milly. Good morning. I’m really sleepy since I didn’t sleep at all last night… just let me sleep a bit…”
”Kent!! Please tell me why your name is on the list for the Beast King Tournament before you go to sleep!”
Milly jumped on me, looking frantic as she demanded answers.
Today, she wore a mini-skirt knight outfit, and I caught glimpses of her black panties peeking out.
But even Milly’s charm wasn’t enough to beat my sleepiness.
”Thanks for wearing such lovely panties today… zzz… zzz…”
”Kent!! Wake up!!”
I suddenly felt a tight grip on my manhood, and my pants were pulled down.
Then, a smooth fabric brushed against me, making my lower body feel cool.
The poor thing, which had been overworked during the festival, perked up with the new stimulation.

”Don’t worry, I’ll take care of that later. First, answer my question. Why is your name on the Beast King Tournament list?”
Milly stared at me with serious eyes, a little angry.

”Talia told me that if I crush the top ten of Garuda, Elkisa’s power will be safe. Her situation is pretty shaky right now. She asked me to help her get some stability. Plus, it seems like in the Garuda Clan battle, they say any means to win is allowed. I never planned to fight alone.”
The Beast King Tournament is also where they decide the top ten of Garuda.
It involves all kinds of factors, and while you do need personal strength, you can also use powerful equipment from your own assets and get help from reliable allies you’ve gathered through your charm.
They say that the required abilities for the battles include combat strength, assets, charm, and leadership skills──everything needed to be the leader of the Garuda Clan.
If I was taught that it was only decided by personal combat, I would have declined to join. But with plenty of assets and trustworthy wives, as long as I don’t bring the strongest man on the Demon Continent, I thought it would be fine to participate.
”But! Kent is in danger! My mother said Nokin is also participating in this Beast King Tournament. Apparently, he himself said he wants to celebrate Elkisa’s wedding.”
”What!? Nokin is coming? What!? Talia didn’t say anything about that!!”
The moment I heard from Milly that Nokin would join the tournament, it felt like cold ice ran down my spine.
I recalled Nokin’s bravery from the battle in Capital City.
”That’s why I really came to confirm! Nokin has amazing personal fighting power, and his guards are top-notch! I think even if you give it your all, you would barely manage to defend against his attacks!”
Nokin’s bravery on the battlefield was outstanding, and I believed Milly’s words were true.
But, my warrior wives have many who are as strong as a thousand men, so I thought they could easily match Nokin’s personal strength.
”Well, with everyone’s help, there’s no enemy we can’t defeat. In fact, we even beat that Orphée Bleu!”
”Fighting is unpredictable. You must not let your guard down. If Kent really wants to enter the Beast King Tournament, I’ll ask Mr. Golerg to hurry up with the armor and shield.”
The armor and shield Milly asked Golerg for are magical armor with magic tools.
But the last one he made was too weak for my level, so I had to use the Armor of Darkness he lent me for hunting.
However, after losing all my jobs in the fight with Orphée Bleu, I didn’t have the level to equip the Armor of Darkness right now.
”It’s fine to hurry, but don’t make it another armor I can’t equip!”
”Don’t worry about that. Mr. Golerg seems to have developed new technology with Rosana and Rosella, which lowers the equipment level. This new armor has a lower level than the Armor of Darkness, but its defense is said to be 20 percent better!”
I had heard that Golerg passed his position as chairman of the Abyss Vena Chamber of Commerce to someone else and started a semi-public workshop called G&R with the Rosella and Rosana sisters, but I hadn’t heard about this new technology Milly mentioned.
”When did they develop such technology?”
”It seems this technology was originally warmed up by Mr. Golerg, but he couldn’t finish it because he didn’t have the right people. However, it looks like Rosana used her abilities as a partner and helped complete it. For now, it’s a top-secret technique, so it’s not strange that Kent doesn’t know about it.”
”If the equipment level is lower, then higher-performance equipment can be supplied to lower-level people, which means it boosts battle strength. The military’s equipment for officers is made in Mr. Golerg’s workshop, right?”
”Yes, officer-class equipment should be uniform from the G&R forge. Rosella’s decoration will be applied as well, so it will look good.”
Rosella’s decoration has a beautiful look that catches the eye, and thanks to it, Golerg’s rugged equipment has been able to reach a new customer base.
”Could it be that my new armor also has Rosella’s decoration?”

From Milly’s words, I was sure that my armor would turn out to be quite flashy.

I was in Westferm, a new town in the South District.

I’ve traveled with groups of performers and mixed with mercenaries guarding caravans.
Some people liked me and invited me to settle down and work with them, but my restless nature prevented me from staying in one place.
The reason I came to Westferm this time is that an acquaintance invited me to join the Beast King martial arts competition happening here soon.
The friend who called me is a female mercenary I’ve known the longest, who has made a name for herself as a Monster Hunter in the South District.
I’m registered as a Monster Hunter too, but for some reason, my Hunter Rank won’t go up, so I run a bodyguard service on the side to make a living.
Most of the money I earned from the side job went to my food expenses.
So, I came to Westferm eagerly when my old friend called, like a boat passing by.
When I arrived in town and asked for the sacred place of Garuda, I was told that a randomly large building in the north of the town is the new sacred place of the Garuda Clan.
So, I decided to look for a hostel near the sacred place mentioned in the letter from my friend and stepmother, Rosalinda Row.
After walking for a while, I saw a colosseum where battles take place.
Her letter said she was renting a room and living there.
”Oh, I thought you might not come. You seem to be pretty broke. I mean, the delivery person is amazing. To deliver my letter to the address-less Iska properly.”
As I approached the colosseum, someone called out to me from behind.
I turned around and saw a woman of the same Cat species standing there.
”Rosalinda said to show up at least to say hi. Otherwise, you won’t get help when you’re broke next time.”
Rosalinda took me in as her adopted daughter when I became an adult.
She’s the only person I can’t stand up to in this world.
She used to be a noble daughter from the east, but I met her when I worked as a guard for a mercenary group.
Back then, I was young and did little jobs for the mercenaries, and she helped me when I was starving.
She even registered me as her adopted daughter when I got my adult card, keeping me connected to this world.
”As long as you’re with me, you can eat. I may run a small hunting group, but I earn enough.”
With her short brown hair swaying, Rosalinda looked surprisingly young for her age.
She’s supposed to be my stepmother, but we’re only ten years apart.
Really, she feels more like an older sister.
I heard her hunting group has been doing well, capturing monsters near Godard, but I don’t think I can join them.
That’s because I can’t survive without devouring monsters now.
Plus, if the memories from the medallion that belonged to my real parents are correct, I’m not a cat type but a panther type like Beast King Vanquish.
I had a feeling for a while that I wasn’t a cat type, but when I realized I must be a panther type, thought to be extinct during the conquest wars of the True Demon Kingdom, I was ready to leave Rosalinda.
Legends say that the panther type will destroy the world, and it’s said that Beast King Vanquish died without leaving any children after losing to Orphée Bleu.
People said panther-kin would destroy the world.
Why?
Because like me now, they could Devour monsters tainted by magic elements──absorbing their power as their own.
This ability had no limits, but… if the magic consumed you, you’d lose control of yourself.
I got this ability after coming of age.
Now, if I don’t Devour high-rank monsters a few times a month, I get unbearable hunger pains.
”Everyone finds me creepy, right? You know… because of *that* condition I have.”
”The whole ‘eating monsters’ thing? Wasting materials is a shame, but nobody in my Hunting Group would call you creepy. If anything, they’d accept you. We’re all misfits here.”
Rosalinda’s trying not to hurt my feelings, but… in all the parties I’ve joined, *nobody* but her ever accepted my Devouring.
Every time they saw it, they’d back off──disgusted.
That distance always hurt, so I’d leave first.
Lately, I just hunt solo.
”You’re the only one who doesn’t care, Rosalinda. Really, you don’t have to fuss over me.”
”What kind of parent wouldn’t fuss over their kid?”
”Anyway… you called me here for more than just a tearful reunion, right?”
Meeting Rosalinda again reminded me why I came.
I’m in this town to help her compete in the Beast King Martial Festival.
”That’s right. I wrote a letter, but I decided to join the Beast King Tournament coming up soon. If I make it into the Garuda Ten, it will give our Hunting Group more respect. That’s why I need Iska’s help. If all goes well, I should get enough riches to feed Iska for life.”
It seemed that Rosalinda thought that becoming a member of the Garuda Ten would earn her respect and trust from her kind, making it easier to work and get help in various ways.
Indeed, I had heard rumors that if you become one of the Garuda Ten, it means your skills are recognized, and you can get better treatment within the Garuda Clan.
”Well, with Rosalinda’s skills, she might be able to beat the recent Garuda Ten. Last year, they couldn’t hold the Beast King Tournament in the east because of Gertroud’s Rebellion, and I also heard that many seats are empty due to that.”
”This year is a chance. The first fang, ‘White Steel Fang,’ Def-Goberg, died in the Gertroud Rebellion, and the new leader, Nokin, isn’t part of the Garuda Ten. If we can secure good seats this time, I think we’ll be safe for the future.”
Rosalinda is my sword teacher, and I treasure the dual sword she gave me, but I’m far from matching her skill in sword technique.
I’ve heard that she’s been improving her skills with recent hunts, so the gap is only getting wider.
But in my case, I end up using hand-to-hand combat instead of sword techniques when I devour, so I don’t use my sword much.
”I hope you can make it into the Garuda Ten.”
”That’s why I called you here. I’ll treat you to food, and we can hunt monsters together. For a while, you’ll stay with me and join the Beast King Tournament, right?”
Rosalinda smiled brightly and reached out for a handshake.
”Well, I’m free, so it’s fine. But only during the tournament. After that, I plan to wander around the Southern Region again.”
”That helps a lot. How about Devour joins our Hunting Group for an A-rank hunt? I’ll explain everything to the members, so don’t hold back, just join the party. They call me the Demon Rosalinda, and they really fear me, so everyone listens to what I say.”
”You shouldn’t tease the Hunting Group members too much. Even if you don’t Devour, I’m fine with just a bonus, right?”
”No way. You’re joining the Garuda Ten! So, you have to show your amazing strength. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of everything. Now, you must be hungry. My house is a little further ahead.”
Rosalinda lightly tapped my shoulder, smiling as she pulled my hand and started walking.
