Chapter 667 The Words of the Dragon God

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 (Helena’s POV)

The ‘Ice Storm’ that Arica unleashed swallowed the Salamander’s breath, slightly reducing its power.

Still, I felt real fear as the scorching flames swirled closer toward us.

 (But… I can’t back down…!)

Behind me, Bianca stood with her shield, while the magician Yori and Arica, and the rearguard members Machua and others were there too.

Tank Lola was hurt and receiving treatment from Yori.

I gripped my Bastard Sword tightly, swinging it down hard at the incoming breath.

My vision lit up bright red, and the heat and brightness made me want to shut my eyes.

I closed them instinctively just then.

Suddenly, a chill filled the air,

 ──Clang!

My Bastard Sword crashed into something.

 ”You’re being reckless…”

I heard a familiar voice and opened my eyes to see…

(The breath… the flames are frozen…?)

My Bastard Sword was deep in a block of ice extending from the Salamander’s mouth.

Maybe it was thanks to the voice I heard.

 Because he…

”I just finished my mining work and was on my way back home… Come on, hurry up. My spell can’t hold this creature for long.”

The elderly man pointed toward the entrance of the hall.

Dressed in a white suit with a monocle, he looked just like a noble.

 ”Sir Dragon God (Wash)…!?”

”If I go all out, I could destroy a mere Salamander in an instant, but as the dungeon master, this is all the help I can give.”

Sir Wash watched the team withdraw from the hall, then turned to wink at me.

 ”Now, you hurry too.”

I nodded to him and left the hall quickly.

After retreating from the hall, we returned to the Safety Zone on this level.

We thanked Sir Wash, and the team members began to prepare dinner.

Sir Wash watched the busy team members with a gentle smile.

In the center was the mature Porter, Machua, giving instructions to them.

She managed all the household tasks at the Rose Hip Clan house with Manuela, the Porter from the Frieda Team.

 ”I appreciate your help, but… um…”

Sitting at the wide Safety Zone table unique to the Deep Floor, I took the tea offered by Lola and started a conversation with the old Shinshi sitting across from me.

”Hmm? What is it, Lady Helena?”

Sir Wash, who had shrunk his large body while handing over the tea, turned his gaze to me and asked.

I caught a glimpse of Lola, her face bright red as she returned to everyone, and my thoughts drifted toward her.

(This elegant demeanor and calm atmosphere are truly… It’s no wonder even my team member, who struggles with men, is drawn to him…)

As I thought this, Sir Wash tilted his head slightly, waiting for my next words.

”Ah… I’m sorry. Um… as the dungeon master, is it okay for you to help us adventurers?”

”Hmm. Indeed, as the one who manages the dungeon, I wonder if it’s right to favor the adventurers who come here. A neutral position is probably the best answer.”

Coming back to my senses, I asked my question nervously.

He took a sip of tea and smiled as he began to speak.

”But, you see… I don’t want to see a beautiful woman burned by flames as I pass by. And…”

The old guy leaned forward slightly, resting his elbows on the table, and directed his kind eyes toward me.

”I am grateful to you, Rose Hip, not as the ‘Dungeon Master,’ but as the protector of Raetia here.”

Sir Wash, the Dragon God, continued, intertwining his fingers and pointing at me with his right index finger, winking at me over his monocle.

”Your contribution to Raetia in Famière is indeed significant. Even as a patron, the existence of the Zett Merchant Guild, which flourishes with the help of the clan, is notable.”

After the meal, Sir Wash began to speak to everyone gathered around the table.

”However, they have their own tasks to accomplish. Do you understand that?”

”Conquering the Welnia Labyrinth and… defeating Azradelius. That’s right.”

Everyone at the scene, including Sir Wash, nodded in response to my answer.

”You, the Black Sheep, are doing what Famière cannot. I am grateful for that.”

Hearing Sir Wash’s words, I couldn’t help but tilt my head in confusion, as did the rest of the team.

(Certainly… we ‘Rose Hip’ are in a position to ‘compete with the best’ in Famière, and we hope to grow together…)

”The Black Sheep are dedicated to resolving disputes among adventurers within the dungeon and aiding those in distress. And──”

Their captain, Bone Schnabel, may seem like a casual man at first glance, but the Black Sheep always keep a team stationed at the guild hall, ready to move at any moment.

”──You have greatly contributed by protecting the miners and aiding in the mithril extraction. Only Famière and Rose Hip can delve into that depth.”

”W-We just did what we could…”

It’s nice to be praised, but being told so by Sir Wash is somehow embarrassing.

The team members seem to share the sentiment, their mouths relaxing as they bow their heads.

”Thanks to your help, Raetia will surely grow and develop more!”

The gentle Dragon God (Wash) spoke softly, looking around at everyone before adding a little something.

”Well, for helping you, let’s say my reward is… that delicious meal we just had, okay?”
