Volume 3 Chapter 53 Promise Of Weapon Creation

”Well done, Lord Kian! You really did great!”

After receiving cheers from the audience in the arena, Kian returned to the waiting room with his ‘master’, Guy.

The acting lord, dressed in a luxurious robe, placed his hands on Kian’s shoulders with a big smile.

”That was an amazing fight. That female swordsman who interrupted seemed quite skilled, but you outperformed her brilliantly. I was so excited watching from above!”

 ”Thank you very much.”

”Haha, it’s no wonder my old man wants to fight. I really feel that now. You’re a great warrior. It seems like you’re seriously working on the ‘Night Crier’ quest too. You really are a good choice!”

Guy said excitedly and took a big gulp of wine from the goblet in his right hand.

He tossed the empty silver cup to the well-dressed Knight standing nearby.

By the way, that Knight was a gloomy man named Lord Blumer.

Just like when he guided Fhana to the carriage, he shot a deadly glare at Kian.

”Ah, there you are, Lord Kian!” “Mr. Kian, thank you for your hard work!”

As Kian watched Guy happily admire the wooden box containing the decayed seeds of the ‘Thorn Demon’, he suddenly heard the voices of 2 women from down the hallway.

It was Priscilla and Mrs. Fhana.

The white-haired Witch, elegantly dressed, walked with the madam to the entrance of the waiting room and then stopped.

They probably didn’t want to step on the sandy ground in their sandals as they descended.

Guy exclaimed, “Oh, Jeanne, Priscilla!” and quickly walked over to them.

Kian and Lord Blumer followed behind.

”Jeanne, here you go, it’s a prize! The ‘Thorn Demon’ seeds you’ve wanted. This batch has a rich deep red-purple color, truly beautiful. I’ll have it displayed in your room later. Right, Lord Blumer?”

”Um, yes, the glass case is already prepared.”

 ”Well, thank you, *Lord Kian*…”

Fhana stood behind her husband, wearing a relaxed smile as she looked at Kian.

She covered her mouth with a fan and blushed a little before continuing.

”I was really surprised watching you. Can humans move that fast?”

”Lord Kian, your fighting was amazing! It was so graceful, like watching masters dance.”

”──Graceful or not, both Lord Kian and that black panther tribe looked like true masters to me, Lady Priscilla.”

The unexpected voice answering was Lord Blumer, who had a gloomy expression by Kian’s side.

He shot a sharp look at Kian, his deep-set eyes likely thrilling for women with unusual tastes.

”Your battle was truly remarkable. That was real Azrael’s Dance Swordsmanship… far above what you pay to see from those fake warrior monks. Who are you, really?”

 ”I’m an outcast.”

Kian replied humbly, keeping his gaze lowered.

”I studied a little at a warrior monk temple long ago. I’m still learning. I strive every day to grasp the essence of swordsmanship.”

”Hmm, interesting… If that’s the case, I’d love to spar with you as part of your training someday. I want to see whose sword skill is superior──my sword or your dancing swordsmanship.”

”Lord Blumer is a master of swordsmanship in the Franz Kingdom. He has fought Lady Eleonora of the Knights of the Sun until sunset. Though he didn’t deal any damage, he threw her ten times. I can guarantee he’s on par with Oswald in pure sword skills.”

Guy explained, and Blumer brushed aside his seaweed-like fringe with a smirk.

”Unfortunately, I was not chosen by the holy sword… But still, that was an impressive throw. It was the Franz Kingdom style of swordplay, the fifth technique of sword deflection from a bind. Your skill was like a perfect example. Did you perhaps train with Lady Eleonora at the Izerland fortress?”

”No, I just copied what I saw.”

”Oh… You just copied it. If you really stole the technique just by watching, I must say you have an amazing eye for observation. You seem to be a more dangerous man than I thought.”

”Blumer, please don’t fight with Mr. Kian, okay?”

Mrs. Fhana gently held back the seaweed-haired knight, who continued to whisper annoyingly.

Blumer clicked his tongue at Kian in annoyance, then bowed to Fhana and stepped back.

”Hey, hey, why are you so tense? Anyway, Kian, good job! I plan to give you a reward after this, so if you’d like, come to my house. I’ll treat you to dinner.”

”Thank you, Sir Guy. I would be happy to accept your kind offer.”

”Ha ha ha! No problem, no problem! You don’t even have to go home after my place! Fhana seems to like you too, so I could hire you as my knight. I like someone skilled with a sword.”

”I appreciate your kindness, but I’m a free-spirited adventurer. Besides, my quest isn’t over yet. After dinner, I’ll get right to work on the ‘Night Crier’.”

 ”You’re a serious guy.”

Guy said this and laughed heartily.

Then he turned to Priscilla and Fhana, asking how the other guests were doing.

Kian felt it would take a little time for the group to move, so he shifted his focus from Guy and the others to watch Katyusha’s movements.

The defeated girl seemed to be deep in conversation with a dark elf shaman disguised as a merchant──Demete──at the back of the waiting room.

After Demete’s eyes glanced toward them, she and the others left the room through the exit on the opposite side, heading into the corridor.

It seemed they intended to escape from the port.

They probably didn’t expect that even the acting lord Guy would bring soldiers, despite the tournament being run by a local organization.

There was a feeling of impatience and tension in the air.

It was clear that they were intentionally holding back their magic power.

”Ha ha ha! So, the merchant guild Tigris Mine has set off for Dacia. That old man just never learns…──Hey, Lord Blumer?”

 ”Huh?”

Suddenly, Guy turned to Blumer and signaled with his eyes.

The large acting lord still wore a bright smile, but his dark eyes were no longer laughing.

Blumer glanced back at the disappearing Demete and the others and silently gestured to the soldiers on either side.

The burly soldiers silently moved away from Kian and quickly disappeared toward the opposite side of the corridor.

”Let them swim to the pier. Don’t let the other guests notice.”

 ”What about life and death?”

”If we have to let them go, then kill them.”

 ”……”

Guy whispered to Blumer in a volume inaudible to humans, and Blumer nodded silently.

The gloomy knight threw the goblet he held, like a dragon’s claw, to the guard and reached for his enchanted sword decorated with thorns at his waist.

His figure sank into the ground like collapsing sand and disappeared without a trace.

 ”Huh? B, Blumer? What happened?”

”Oh, it’s nothing, my lovely Jeanne.”

 Guy showed a white-toothed smile.

He continued while holding his wife’s shoulder.

”I was just talking with Lord Blumer about how we need to tighten security because we have important guests today. You know, someone was killed before the match today.”

 ”Y, yes…”

”You have nothing to worry about. ──Now, after this, there’s a feast. Lord Kian, why don’t you tell my wife some interesting stories about Azrael? Or perhaps, some thrilling tales of your adventurer life would do.”

 ”Yes, leave it to me.”

Kian was worried about Katyusha and Demete, but there was nothing he could do at the moment.

Glancing towards the corridor, Kian nodded in agreement with the acting lord’s words.

(Demete was one thing, but it wouldn’t do to let Katyusha, whom I had gone out of my way to help, end up torn to pieces. That gloomy man with seaweed hair, Blumer, was quite skilled.)

’Leave it be. You’ve gone to the trouble of sneaking into enemy territory and even participated in a sword fighting tournament. This was part of the plan all along.’)

 (This leaves a bad taste…)

Katyusha should be recovering from her injuries by now, but Blumer’s thorny-decorated magic sword was concerning.

Abbas and Zayn are probably around too, so if they could just regroup, it shouldn’t be a problem────.

However, even in the brief moment Kian hesitated, it seemed like the situation was rapidly moving forward.

Just as he thought they were about to head towards Guy’s private residence, the figures of 3 men and women appeared from the other side of the corridor.

A rough-looking man with black hair and a large scar over one eye, wearing an eye patch.

A fluffy, black cat-haired, androgynous boy.

And a serious-faced beauty dressed in a red witch’s outfit.

They stopped in front of Guy and bowed in a gesture of subordinates.

”Brother, sorry. Those guys were a separate unit, but they all committed suicide before we could capture them.”

”What? Are there no survivors, Adrian?”

”I’m sorry. They used the blast powder they had to explode and scatter.”

”Damn it, what are you doing? What about the ship?”

”It’s anchored at the third dock in the northeast district.”

 The cat-haired boy answered briefly.

After a short pause, he shrugged and continued:

”But the captain might be seafood by now.”

”────-. I told you to wait until those bastards were about to board.”

”As soon as they reached the pier, Gosh jumped straight into the sea. I told him to stop, but he must have been really hungry because he started munching on the boat!”

”Hehe… Brother Gosh is such a silly guy, all the way up to his head! There’s no helping it. He’ll probably have a stomachache later. I really hate his stinky diarrhea. Seriously, I wish his jokes were just about his looks!”

The boy giggled, placing his white fingers to his mouth.

If you looked closely, you could see spider-like tattoos on his fingers and under his neck.

The white armor he wore had a design that looked like insects.

It was, how should he says it──an unusual atmosphere.

Guy clicked his tongue and waved his ringed hand.

”Enough. Capture the survivors thrown into the sea. You have arranged everything, right? Lishena?”

”Yes. My subordinates are already on the recovery mission. Some of them are drinking water, but they are alive.”

The witch in the red dress turned to Priscilla.

”Head Magician, I would like to borrow your power as well.”

”Of course! Guy, I will also head to the pier.”

 ”No way.”

Guy shook his head firmly while fiddling with the shining lord’s badge on his chest, rejecting the white-haired witch’s smiling suggestion.

”Priscilla, you will eat with us.”

 ”But…”
