Volume 3 Chapter 53 Promise Of Weapon Creation
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Behave, and do as I say. Adrian and Louis will take care of the dark elf and the black panther tribe woman warrior monk.”
”…”
Priscilla’s face twisted for just a moment, and she looked toward the hallway.
Maybe she was going to help Demete escape from the port at this time.
But if Guy refused so clearly, she might be suspected of being a traitor if she pushed it.
──No, maybe she was already suspected.
Whatever the truth, the white-haired witch shook her head slightly and backed off.
”By the way, brother, what’s Lord Blumer doing?”
The man with the eyepatch asked.
Guy gestured with his chin toward the hallway.
”He’s already chasing them. You guys chase after him too. You know, be careful not to kill them. If they’re an important person from another country, it’ll be a waste of money and diplomacy.”
”Understood.” “Got it. Let’s go, Lishena.” “Yes, Sir Louis.”
The 3 of them bowed to Guy and Fhana and passed by.
The head magician in the red dress bowed slightly to the lord’s representative couple, Priscilla, and Kian before slipping past them.
It was like they came like a storm and left like a storm.
’Bird dragon, insect dragon, a witch who smells of blood.’
(The man with the eyepatch and the cat-haired boy are probably from the Châtillon family. Their magic power is definitely not human.)
’The Châtillon are truly a chaotic place…’
(Yeah.)
Guy clapped his hands when the 3 of them, who were much more unique than Lord Blumer, disappeared into the darkness of the hallway.
”Everyone, sorry to keep you waiting. Now, let me show you to my home. Lord Kian, enjoy plenty of sake and food tonight! Hahaha!”

Guy’s private residence was in the gorgeous main castle he had visited before when he had a meeting with Shajar Nakash.
The hallway and waiting room were beautiful, but Guy’s living area was even more beautiful.
The interior was marble with gold, silver, and jewels scattered about.
The hallway was wide, and the ceiling was high.
Kian moved through the large, lonely mansion with the guards, feeling a bit lost.
Next, they were led to a dining hall that seemed as big as the old Oswald training ground.
There, a dinner party began with the stewards from Guy’s house joining in.
Kian had prepared for greasy meat, like at the Izerland fortress party, but surprisingly, the main dishes were light fish meals.
The spices were adjusted for Azraelian tastes, and Kian felt nostalgic when they served curry with unleavened bread during the course.
Franz often had soup dishes because many regions were cold in winter.
That’s why fluffy, fermented bread that could soak in soup was popular.
In contrast, some regions of Azrael preferred thin bread that could wrap around side dishes.
Kian wanted to take some back for Natra and Rufna, but he decided to enjoy the meal instead of doing something so cheap.
While he was at it, he shared stories about Azrael and adventures with the ladies, and they were thrilled.
Châtillon was a town full of entertainment like casinos and gladiators, but for those who didn’t like that, tales from bards and adventurers were the best treat.
The story that got the biggest reaction was about the quest to turn Spoon and Wing into pets when he was with Rean in ‘Lion’s Companion.’
About an hour after the meal started, Guy stood up from the head of the table, noticing everyone was pleasantly tipsy, and asked Kian to join him on the balcony.
”Is it about the reward?”
Kian placed his wine glass on the railing and asked the tall lord, who was looking down at the windbreak forest from the balcony.
”Yes. You don’t need to be so tense. Just relax.”
”Okay.”
”First, about the payment. The Gold Coins reward and the repair of the Windsong Blade are separate. You will be paid in Gold Coins, and I will fix the magic sword for free.”
”I still haven’t completed the ‘Night Crier’ Quest.”
”Once that’s done, you’ll move on to the next job, right? It’s best to get the magic sword fixed as soon as possible. You can bring it to my house tomorrow, or give it to Priscilla. Depending on how badly it’s damaged, I think it will take about a week.”
It was surprising that the magic sword could be re-forged in just a week.
Well, if it takes only a month or 2 for repairs, it wouldn’t be a problem.
It would be fine if the Windsong Blade returned before Kian clears the Rank 6 ── intermediate-rank Adventurer test and starts taking on high-difficulty Rank 4 Quests in a row.
”Got it.”
”Jeanne──no, Fhana, it’s been a while since I saw her having so much fun. If you feel like it, come by my place and share some stories.”
Guy glanced at the black-haired noblewoman talking with Priscilla at the table, then rested his elbows on the railing, peering down at the windbreak.
”Being the lord’s deputy is surely busy work, huh?”
”It is busy. I must meet with people from morning till night. But, there are times like tonight when I have some free time. I should spend time for Jeanne, but… it seems like we just don’t click. You understand, Lord Kian? When there’s an age gap, our topics and interests can be very different. If only Fhana were a boy, we could have fun talking about cool swords and shields… but she doesn’t like those kinds of talks at all.”
”I also have a partner who is much older than me, but we don’t have trouble finding common topics.”
”Oh, is that person of the opposite sex?”
”Yes, I like women. She and I don’t have the same interests, but it’s fun to talk with her. She seems to enjoy it too. It’s like we’re relaxing in the sun, chatting with a pet on our laps. Even silence feels nice, a strange feeling.”
”How lucky you are.”
Guy opened his right hand, showing how he felt.
”Jeanne and I… We barely talk, except for work stuff. When we’re silent, we both look very awkward, and we want to go to different rooms to avoid it. I thought it was because we didn’t know each other well in the first 2 years. But… after 3, 4 years of being married, I started to wonder if we just weren’t meant to be together… I tell myself it’s because of the age difference, but it’s just an excuse for not getting along.”
”Maybe it’s a common thing to say, but why not start by trying to understand Lady Fhana? What does she think? What does she want? Understanding your wife’s desires is the most important thing.”
”Hmm, you’re right.”
The big man looked unhappy as he lifted his glass and took a small sip of wine.
He sighed and then looked at Kian, as if he was changing his mood.
”How about the armor? Do you like it?”
”It’s great. I can move very easily, and there are many pockets. Even if it breaks a little, it’s easy to fix, and it won’t leave a mark.”
”If you want, I’ll sell it to you. Including the falchion.”
”Are you sure?”
”I don’t mind. I made it to escape from work and my wife. I’ll probably make more things whenever I feel down. When I shut myself in my workshop, it makes Lord Blumer’s work harder, but that guy helps me out anyway, even if he complains. I have… *good* subordinates.”
Guy emphasized his last words and stood up from the railing.
He turned to Kian and smiled.
”The cost of the equipment will be taken from your reward. I can’t just give you the gear for free. If you want any of the weapons I recommended, just let me know. But, if the total costs more than your reward, you’ll have to pay the extra.”
”Well then, I will come by later to buy weapons for my 2 companions.”
”Sure. I won’t squeeze money from poor people unfairly. For me, as long as someone asks, ‘Who made this?’ and they can say, ‘It was made by Guy in Châtillon,’ I’ll be satisfied. Right now, I just want to be known as a famous blacksmith.”
”Understood. If someone asks, I will proudly say it’s the work of Sir Guy. If my words bring too many adventurers to Châtillon seeking your work, I’m really sorry!”
”Hahaha! If you swing those weapons, that future might really happen! More customers is good. I’ll work hard to have kids with Fhana so I can retire like my old man and focus on my beloved blacksmith work.”
”――――.”
He could never say, “Please hurry before Lady Fhana hits menopause.”
But if they understand each other, children will come quickly.
Kian decided to keep a cheerful smile and not dig too deep.
”Oh, right. Sir Guy, if possible, could you introduce me to a craftsman who can make a magic staff or a magic bow?”
”A staff and bow…? Can’t I do that? I can basically make anything.”
”No, but after fixing the Windsong Blade, asking you to make more weapons would disrupt your business, wouldn’t it?”
”Yeah, I guess that’s true.”
Guy scratched his head and looked down at Kian.
”What’s up? Do you have an elf magician in your party?”
”Yes. She’s fighting without any magic tools to boost her spells, so I think I need to get her some gear. I have 2 materials that could serve as the ‘core’ for the tools.”
Kian pulled out a ‘Magic-Draining Mirror’ from his Night Wraith’s pocket and the ‘Thorn Spike’ he had received from Maribel.
”Hmph… This is a very old magic tool. It has been enchanted. The magic language carved into it is not ancient elf, but the script of the Night Clan. Where did you get this?”
”I’m sorry, but I can’t say.”
The mirror was something he had found in the underground of Maribel’s former residence.
The thorn spike was taken from the brambles that had bound a Mithril Golem in a tight coil.
It was likely derived from a ‘Thorn Demon.’
If used to make a weapon, it would undoubtedly become a powerful piece of equipment imbued with the demon’s power.
”Hmph, it doesn’t matter. But these are interesting materials. This is a ‘Thorn Demon’ spike, right? And… the smell is so strong, the essence is very concentrated.”
”You can tell?”
”I’ve collected quite a few of those demon seeds for my wife. I can recognize the smell now.”
Guy showed his jagged teeth and snickered as he spoke.
The large man continued.
”Hey, can’t you leave these with me? They’d be perfect to play with on my break.”
”But, are you sure that’s okay?”
”No problem. I plan to fiddle with them at night. I don’t need much sleep anyway.”
”Is that so? If Sir Guy is making it, I would feel more at ease.”
After all, both items were valuable.
If handed over to an incompetent craftsman and he said, “Sorry, I couldn’t handle the materials and failed,” the loss would be more than just monetary compensation.
”If you like, I can guide you to my workshop later. I’ll show you the design plans and simple completion diagrams. If you want to consult with a fellow magician, you can call them over too.”
”To the workshop!? Is it really okay for an outsider like me to enter?”
”That’s what I’m saying it’s okay. I feel like showing off my workshop and my skill at drawing plans to someone. It’s good to keep making pieces, but a work is meant to be shown to others or it’ll just end up stored away and turn into a fossil.”
The guy said this as he drained his glass of wine.
”It’ll be easy after the meal. You and I both have our own jobs starting tomorrow.”
