Volume 1 Chapter 24 Dirty Fireworks

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Me and Lifia, the half-elf girl, were walking back from the goblin forest.

”Master, we’re about to meet goblins. There are two of them.”

Lifia told me, using her detection magic.

 What should I do?

Usually, Lifia would use magic to stop the goblins, and then I would finish them with my spear.

But, I leveled up after beating the Orc. Maybe I can fight without Lifia’s magic now.

”Okay, I want to fight without using any skills. Lifia, just stop one of them.”

”Um, Master? If it’s okay, can I try too?”

Lifia’s blue eyes were shining with worry and determination.

She probably gained confidence after fighting the Orc.

But, she’s still not very good.

 Can she defeat a goblin?

And without making her spirit go wild.

”Can you do it without hurting anything around us?”

 ”Yes, I’ll show you!”

Lifia’s answer was sure, and she was full of energy.

Then, it would be rude to stop her.

”Okay, Lifia, you attack first. Then, I’ll go.”

 ”Understood!”

After walking for a while, 2 goblins appeared from the bushes.

They haven’t noticed us yet, sniffing the air.

 Maybe they smelled Lifia’s scent.

We looked at each other quietly, and gave the signal.

Lifia held out her hand towards the goblin and carefully chanted a spell.

 ”Mooruu, Air Impetus!”

In that moment, the goblin’s head exploded!

Was it a ball of wind?

The magic from Lifia’s hand shot through the goblin’s head.

The thing that was the goblin’s head was scattered in the forest behind.

 Splatter.

The goblin’s body without a head slowly fell to the ground, dripping with fluids.

 ”Gi? Gi? Ggii?”

The other goblin probably didn’t understand what happened.

It just stared at its dead friend in shock.

 Honestly, I was also confused.

 It’s gross.

But it’s better than I expected.

 The forest itself is safe.

I shake it off and jump out from the bushes.

The goblin notices me, but before it can react, my spear reaches its chest.

 ”Gugya!? Giiiii…”

 Too slow.

I could take it down easily.

I can clearly feel my body getting stronger.

Is this the benefit of leveling up?

 ”Well done, Master!”

Lifia runs over to praise me.

”Yeah, you did great too, Lifia.”

 ”Yes! How about this?”

”Um, well, I think it’s good.”

 I answer vaguely.

We managed to defeat it, so that’s enough.

But I hope she learns to hold back a bit.

I wonder if she’ll be able to do that soon.

So we used the goblin and continued through the forest while Lifia practiced her magic.

* * *

In all this, we finally returned to the town street the next morning.

Before entering the Adventurer’s Guild, I tried to have Lifia wait at the Love Hotel as usual, but she shook her head.

”Please let me go with you! I’m fine now. Dealing with thugs is easy-peasy!”

It seems her powers as a spirit user have grown, and she gained confidence from facing orcs and goblins.

In fact, she could probably handle a few bad adventurers without any problem.

I was worried about bringing such a cute girl in a mini-skirt maid outfit to the guild.

I couldn’t help but think it might cause unnecessary trouble.

On the other hand, I also wanted to show off having Lifia with me.

I wanted to brag about having a beautiful, cute, and obedient maid.

To be honest, I had those lowly desires too.

”No matter what happens, I will protect you, Master!”

 Lifia declares with determination.

 She’s both reliable and adorable.

 Well, I guess it’s okay.

She can handle low-level adventurers with just a few words of Spirit Magic.

But while easy-peasy is fine, I hope we can avoid any splatter situations.

If I have another worry, it’s the heroes who came with me…

I don’t think they need the Adventurer’s Guild much.

They seem to get orders straight from the castle.

They only came to the guild before to check my skills.

So, there’s not much chance of trouble if they see Lifia.

 ”So, are we going together?”

 ”Yes!”

The guild was more noisy than usual.

Adventurers, who I’ve never seen before, were there with sharp eyes and talking seriously in low voices.

Strong warriors with swords and axes, and even magic users with fancy clothes, a gathering I don’t usually see.

The guild staff were also nervous, carrying papers back and forth.

 They looked tense.

 Something was clearly happening.

 Did something big happen?
