Volume 3 Chapter 60 Before Leaving Châtillon II

”So, it seems it’s not suited for stealth.”
’Yes. If you want to sneak, you should wear the warrior monk gear Guy gave you.’
”But this armor is really sturdy, like the typical armor of a western swordsman. I could definitely handle a counterattack or a fistfight.”
’That’s because it’s made for close combat. The ‘Silver Ice’ set has almost no weaknesses. Well, unless you want to fight as a magician.’
”‘Glasses.’”
’What is it?’
Kian pushed up the bridge of his ‘glasses’ and made a serious face.
”I’m sorry for calling you useless. I really appreciate you now. Thank you, Talia.”
’You’re such a fickle one… But if you get stronger, it’s great for both of us. Plus, you’ve been focusing too much on your warrior monk skills and neglecting your vampire skills, so it was time to remind you how attractive those skills can be.’
”Warrior monk skills and vampire skills. Ideally, I want to master both.”
Just as he said that, he suddenly felt something strange.
The parts of his body touching the leather gloves and chainmail felt slightly warm.
It was not just his imagination; beautiful red veins began to glow like a magnificent pattern across his palms and chest.
Kian’s eyes widened behind his ‘glasses’ as the ‘Silver Ice’ armor started to shine in the dark cave.
”What? What is this? Hey, ‘glasses’?”
’Hehe… It seems the armor’s magic has activated.’
”What? Magic? What kind of magic? Tell me!”
’Don’t worry. I told you it has a function to enhance the weak body of a magician. Since it’s the first time, you might feel a bit excited, but it will be a good experience.’
What are you talking about…?
Just as he was about to ask, he suddenly sensed a life form coming from the cave entrance.
Through his ‘glasses’, he could see something humanoid swimming towards him from the sea.
”A merman──Ipupira! Damn!”
There were 2two of them.
They were probably the ones using the nearby sunken ship as their bed.
It seemed they had come to check on Kian’s presence.
They were carnivorous and sometimes attacked humans who went fishing to eat them.
In the Adventurer Guild, a party hunt against them was ranked between Rank 7 and Rank 8 when in a pack.
If the battlefield was underwater, Rank 7 was certain.
(I had left my mithril falchion with my warrior monk gear. For now, I would use ‘thread’ and ‘blast’ to keep me at bay, while targeting the ones with low magic resistance to cast charm magic.)
They were not enemies he couldn’t handle.
In fact, he could wipe them all out.
Compared to the magician Rufna and the genius Natra, it would take him quite a bit longer, though.
So, Kian quickly began to gather his inner energy, but then the ‘Silver Ice’ gear started to glow with a red emblem.
This time, it was a fierce light.
His body became unusually hot.
His muscles bulged, his fighting instincts awakened, and then…
”──Am I… getting hard!? Me!?”
’It’s not unusual for you to get hard without reason, but this time it’s because of the gear making you sexually excited. As the gear craves blood, you will also thirst for it. You might struggle at first, but you’ll probably get used to it next time.’
Thirst for blood?
Is that really okay!?
You should have told me sooner!
──But those words never came out.
”Grrr!”
A beast-like growl escaped him.
His body was just hot.
Through the gear, he felt a dark──vampire’s essence flowing into him.
Kian’s eyes glowed red, and drool dripped from his fangs like a wild beast.
Kian, his body wrapped in ‘Silver Ice’ gear, swelled up like a gorilla and turned towards the shallow part of the cave.
Splash, splash, splash──water splashed up as a bipedal monster covered in pale blue fish scales jumped out.
It was the Ipupira.
They let out metallic howls, waving their sharp claws at Kian, who had invaded their territory.
’Hehe, those fools don’t even know who the real prey is… Hey, Kian. Use them to test the gear’s performance.’
”Grrr…”
’Hey, are you listening?’
”Aaaagh! Aaaagh! Aaaagh!”
’Ah, this is not good.’
The voice of ‘glasses’ was distant.
It was hard to understand.
Kian spread his strong arms wide, puffed out his chest, and howled at the ceiling.
An overwhelming force.
The king of the wild.
The mermen felt a primal fear and began to back away slowly.
But it was too late to retreat.
”AAAAAAAGH!”
Right after that,
the smell of blood filled the cave.
Blood smoke rose, and the shallow seawater turned red with the blood of the mermen.
”Aaagh! Agh! Aaaghhh!”
Kill, kill, kill everything.
Crush, punch, and kick anything in sight.
Those who tried to escape were jumped on and stomped down.
Grabbing them by the neck, he pulled them back and laughed while hitting them.
He kicked the gut of anyone who tried to help their friends, making their insides burst.
The view was all red.
The exciting smell of iron filled his nose.
He couldn’t stop his arousal.
His hunger was a sexual drive.
”AAAAAAGH!!!”
When Kian regained consciousness,
all the mermen, more than 30, had turned into pieces of meat.
* * *
His excited body calmed down only in the afternoon due to the new equipment.
At the same time, his desire for blood became easier to control.
Indeed, as ‘glasses’ said, he felt he could fight while keeping his mind in the next battle.
While carnivorous fish gathered to eat the mermen’s remains, Kian quietly finished packing the noble clothes into his backpack and left the shallow cave.
After that, he headed south along the winding cliffs towards Châtillon.
By evening, he reached the beach of the nearest fishing village and caught a merchant’s cart heading to the summer market on the town street.
The ‘Silver Ice’ set was a living weapon that absorbed blood and other dirt, turning it into nutrients for the equipment, just like the ‘Nightshade’ series.
Heat manipulation──thanks to being able to control molecular movement, he could dry the fabric or warm his cold body.
He paid the merchant in the carriage without smelling seawater or blood, and they happily took him to the fortress.
The merchant let her off in front of the main castle on Châtillon’s central street, and she said thank you before parting ways.
The wide street, big enough for 4 carriages to pass side by side, sank into twilight. On either side, loud slogans from merchants selling in the last sunset sale echoed through the busy shops.
”…I had a terrible time.”
