Volume 3 Chapter 1-2 Morning Scenery

She used a new detection method, sending wind along the ground to explore the terrain.
This idea worked perfectly and led us to a path to the lower floors.
The monsters in the second floor are now easy to defeat without much struggle.
It’s about time we aim for the third floor.
But there’s one concern.
It’s the existence of the wanted man, Hasa Fisco.
There’s no doubt he’s inside the Dungeon.
He might be advancing to more dangerous floors to escape his pursuers.
Whether it’s the third floor or beyond, I’m not sure.
Thinking about his abnormal personality and extraordinary combat abilities, I’d rather avoid getting involved.
”There are several adventurers in the space believed to be the Guardians’ room.”
Lifia reports the results of her detection.
It’s the deepest part of the second floor, where the boss used to be, the Guardians’ room.
It seems adventurers are now using it as a temporary resting place.
”And among them… the information broker.”
The information broker, Quigg, that is.
It’s unexpected to see him in such a place.
He looks shady, but considering the accuracy of his information so far, we can’t ignore him.
We get our dungeon and monster information from Tifi, but the latest on-site information might be more valuable coming from Quigg.
Maybe we’ll even get information about the wanted man, Hasa.
”Alright, let’s go check it out.”
”Yes.”
The Guardians’ room in the second floor of the dungeon is an open space where the forest ends.
There’s not a single tree around, just a grassy ground that spreads out.
As usual, a white mist covers the area, making visibility not so good.
A party of adventurers seems to be camping on the other side of the mist, faintly visible as u-ssu.
Let’s not get close.
It’s a source of unnecessary trouble.
It’s hard to make out the faces of people far away.
In such a situation, we follow Lifia’s detection magic and head towards the information broker, Quigg.
Quigg was standing right next to the stairs leading to the third floor.
As always, he’s a man who exudes a shady aura.
”Oh my, what a surprise to meet you here, Mister.”
Quigg waves his hand, having noticed us.
”Is it common for information brokers to come to places like this?”
”It depends on the person. I’m here to gather new information. There’s no value in old news, you know.”
Makes sense.
What he says is reasonable.
”So, you came all the way through this fog to talk to me? You want information?”
I was right where he could find me, but he knew I wanted information.
A businessman, he gets straight to the point.
I shrugged a little and got to the main topic.
”Yeah, I want to know about the situation in the third floor and the bounty.”
Quigg grinned.
”I don’t have much info, but I’ll tell you if you give me 300,000 Aurum.”
He said he didn’t have much info, but he’s asking for a lot of money.
”That’s the dungeon price. Information here is worth way more than on the surface, right?”
He has a point.
This isn’t a normal place to do business, and the information is rare and important.
It’s like how expensive the vending machines are up in the mountains.
Whatever.
At least his info was right last time.
”Okay.”
I took out the gold coins from my wallet and gave them to Quigg.
He took them with a satisfied look and gave me his usual shady smile.
”You know the value of information, Mister. You’ll live a long life.”
”I don’t need that. What about the information?”
I urged him, and Quigg rubbed his hands together and began to speak.
”First, about that guy. He was seen going deeper into the third floor. I don’t know if he went down to the 4th floor.”
Quigg continued.
”And, there are some high-rank adventurers here, bounty hunters.”
Quigg said, looking into the fog.
I can see a party of adventurers in the fog.
They’re probably the bounty hunters.
”Why don’t you go after them, Mister?”
”Don’t be stupid. I don’t want anything to do with them.”
I answered right away, and Quigg chuckled.
”Heh heh, that’s smart.”
Quigg probably doesn’t think I’m serious about hunting the bounty.
But that’s just how he is, making jokes.
”Also, there are some MPs sneaking around for reconnaissance.”
Quigg continued in a low voice.
”They look like adventurers, so it’s hard to tell, but I can tell.”
He looked proud, likely part of his profession. His skill in gathering information was impressive.
”That’s all the new info I’ve got.”
Quigg shrugged, ending his report.
”Does he actually kill indiscriminately? I heard he murdered a Gatekeeper Soldier.”
I asked, recalling his actions when I’d seen him before.
He’d mercilessly killed the rogue adventurer ‘Fang of Lead’, but only after they’d attacked him.
Still, he’d also executed the last fleeing member who’d lost their will to fight.
Quigg shrugged in response.
”From what I’ve heard, he’s not reckless. Only those who attacked or interfered with him got taken out. He hasn’t gone after adventurers who just passed by.”
I see.
Then maybe he has no reason to target us.
But I can’t be too optimistic.
As long as he’s a bounty head, anything could happen depending on the situation.
Either way, with bounty heads and military guard infiltrating, the deeper floors of the Dungeon will get even more chaotic.
We need to decide how to move forward.
Caution is necessary, but we can’t afford to stall.
Near the entrance to the third floor should be relatively safe.
It’s a high-traffic area, and a bounty hunter like Hasa Fisco would likely avoid being spotted there.
He’d probably steer clear.
”Got it. Thanks for the info.”
”Be careful. I’m counting on you, Mister.”
We parted ways with Quigg and headed toward the staircase to the third floor.
If things go south, we can always retreat to the Love Hotel.
Even if ambushed at the exit, Tifi’s door can get us back to the surface.
We have options now, unlike before.
And so, we stepped into the new floor.
