Volume 3 Chapter 19-2 Leave the Magic Book Alone and Move to the New Floor

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

”No way I can do this.”

”Yeah, I agree. Honestly, it’s pretty tough for us right now.”

Tifi also agrees and lets out a small sigh.

In the end, we decided it’s unrealistic to use this spellbook.

It’s beyond what we can handle in terms of time and effort.

The spellbook was eventually left unused in the corner of a Love Hotel room.

Maybe someday we’ll use it, but we have no idea when that will be.

For now, it just looks like a fancy piece of decor.

* * *

We pushed the spellbook aside and decided to continue exploring dungeon 3rd Floor.

As we went deeper, the number of monsters visibly increased.

It looked like we were getting close to the 4th Floor.

The first thing we noticed was a Blur Bunny.

It used to appear alone most of the time, but here, it formed groups and attacked constantly.

They can make copies of themselves to confuse us, and if we attack without thinking, we’ll waste our energy.

We have to figure out which one is the real one and deal with it carefully.

The ground is covered with Angler Grass everywhere.

It looks like normal grass, but if you step on it, it gets tangled around your legs and you’re eaten instantly.

We had to keep paying attention to our feet as we moved.

After a few steps, we come across a Mirage Brown Snail.

This monster hides using optical camouflage.

If we get too close, it throws out toxic mucus.

The snail waits in hidden spots, so we need to stay alert all the time.

A bigger problem is the Pole Python.

It looks like an ordinary tree, but that’s just camouflage.

It’s a predator that kills prey with sharp fangs, so everything nearby should be suspicious.

Seeing so many monsters crowded together, I suddenly had a silly idea.

What if we used the Pole Python to lure Hitchcock, so he could clean out the dungeon?

Hitchcock is sensitive to the smell of Pole Python’s blood, and when he catches that scent, he goes into a rampage.

As a result, he has the tendency to indiscriminately devour any creature he sees on the ground.

 Monsters are no exception.

However, I quickly reconsider that this is not realistic.

It seems some adventurers have actually tried that method.

And the result was a failure.

When Hitchcock rampages, there are more monsters on the ground.

Even after Hitchcock is full and goes back into the sky, many monsters still survive on the ground.

Additionally, the monsters activated by the chaos become even more ferocious, making the situation worse than before.

I shook my head and pushed that thought away.

After all, we can only proceed steadily.

We focused on carefully checking our path while sneaking through the horde of monsters.

 Fortunately, I have reliable companions.

Lifia accurately detects the presence of hidden enemies.

The attacking monsters are expertly cut down by Kéa with her Two-handed weapon.

And when I’m tired, I can safely rest with my skill “Love Hotel.”

Thanks to such powerful allies and environment, we were steadily making progress in our exploration.

After a while, Lifia suddenly looked up and told me.

”…! Master, there is a space ahead with no monsters at all. And there’s a staircase-like terrain.”

Finally, we might have found it.

”Alright, let’s head there. Move carefully!”

 ”Yes!”

 ”Understood!”

We synchronized our breaths and advanced toward the point Lifia sensed, cutting through the horde of monsters.

Then, at a certain point, the monster attacks suddenly ceased.

Before us lay an eerily quiet grassland.

There were no rocks or trees, it was unnaturally flat, and a desolate space.

 This is the “Protector’s Hall.”

It is an important point that separates layers of the Dungeon, and it is said that a powerful boss once guarded this place.

 The guardian is gone now.

Centuries ago, many adventurers tried, and it was my party that risked their lives to defeat it.

In the middle of the grassland, there is a gaping hole leading to a staircase that descends to the lower level.

”Does this mean we’ve conquered the third floor of the dungeon?”

As I mutter this, Lifia smiles happily at me.

 ”You did it, Master!”

 ”You’re amazing!”

Kéa also raises her fist energetically.

I let out a short breath and relax my shoulders a bit.

It took a considerable amount of time to explore this floor.

I still recall how we wandered the third floor of the dungeon for days, fighting monsters as we went.

But if I think about it calmly, our progress is surprisingly fast.

For an ordinary adventurer, it would take months, or even years, to reach this level.

In fact, most would never reach it in their lifetime.

Once again, I appreciate the skill “Love Hotel.”

Thanks to the Love Hotel, we can rest safely and recover our strength fully.

We can even return to the surface or resume our exploration from where we left off.

And I have great companions like Lifia and Kéa.

Lifia’s detection ability and Kéa’s combat power are both indispensable.

Plus, Tifi is supporting us steadily from above.

Considering this fortunate situation, I guess I’m pretty lucky.

No, it’s not just luck; I think I can be a little proud of us for making the most of this situation.

 ”Shall we go?”

As I turn around and ask, Lifia and Kéa respond strongly.

 ”Yes!”

 ”Understood!”

With that, we start descending the stairs towards the 4th floor of the dungeon, leaving the guardian behind, ready for new challenges.

Our hearts are excited for the unknown adventures that await us.
