I answer with a weak smile.

Honestly, choosing bikini armor was just my thing.

It wasn’t some deep plan, just luck it turned out useful.

Moving around in the snow mountains wears you out way more than you think.

By the time we got here, we were already pretty exhausted.

But I wanna get a few more levels.

 I’m level 36 now.

Just a bit more experience, one more level, then I can add new stuff to the “Love Hotel.”

Something fitting for this snowy mountain.

As I stare across the snowy plain, I imagine the perfect future in my head.

Suddenly, Lifia yells out a sharp warning.

”Monster! Medium-sized! From the left back, under the snow!”

I look toward where she’s pointed, and I can see something heading this way beneath the snow.

It’s just barely peeking out of the snow surface.

 …Is that a fin?

 ”Lifia, do it!”

In the snow, Kéa and I’s swords don’t hit as well.

I decide we’ve gotta rely on Lifia’s Spirit Magic, so I give the quick order.

 ”Yes! Air Lancer!”

 Lifia loudly chants her spell.

The invisible air spear she fires from her hand speeds straight for the monster beneath the snow.

Just then, the monster bursts out, kicking snow everywhere.

It dodges the air spear, revealing itself mid-air.

Its sharp teeth flash as its water-blue body shimmers in the light.

 It’s a shark.

 ”Hah!”

As the shark jumps out, Kéa immediately swings her sword.

 Her move’s quick, no hesitation.

But the shark is super fast.

Even in mid-air, it twists to dodge Kéa’s strike and then dives back under the snow.

It swims through the snow, keeping its distance from us.

But it doesn’t seem to want to run.

It’s circling around us, not letting us escape.

 ”Damn. That’s probably a Frostscale.”

 Frostscale──that’s the name.

It’s a shark-like monster with sharp scales and teeth that look like icy blades, swimming through the snow.

Lifia immediately casts detection magic, trying to track the enemy’s position again.

 ”It’s still nearby! Stay alert!”

We focused all our senses and stared at the snow surface.

Thanks to Lifia’s detection magic, we could roughly pinpoint the enemy’s location, but the Frostscale moved fast.

 ”Here it comes! Straight ahead!”

As Lifia shouted, the snow erupted upwards, revealing the Frostscale.

Its massive body was covered in razor-sharp scales that reflected light and sparkled coldly.

”This is going to be a pain. Kéa, let’s coordinate!”

 ”Understood!”

The Frostscale charged at us with incredible speed.

Its sharp teeth aimed our way, and the freezing air made the surrounding atmosphere tremble.

I stepped back while giving instructions to Lifia.

 ”Lifia, stall it!”

 ”Yes, Wind Bind Circle!”

As Lifia’s hands glowed, chains of wind converged to entangle the Frostscale.

For just a moment, its movement slowed, but it sliced through the chains with its sharp scales.

But that short gap had opened up.

Taking advantage of it, Kéa kicked off the snow and approached the Frostscale.

With her natural speed and strength, she swung her sword down, but it was deflected by the scales, leaving only a shallow wound.

As expected from a monster on the 4th Floor.

 The Frostscale retaliated, targeting Kéa.

Its freezing fangs lunged to catch her, but Kéa barely dodged just in time.

 ”It’s so tough!”

 Kéa shouted.

 Hearing her, I steeled myself.

”Lifia, go all out! Kéa, keep it distracted!”

 ”Got it!”

 ”Understood!”

While Lifia prepared her spell, Kéa stepped back in front of the Frostscale again.

She swung her sword provocatively to grab its attention.

 ”Now!”

In response to my voice, Lifia unleashed her powerful magic.

 ”Mooluumve! Cyclone!”

Numerous blade-like winds formed and wrapped around the Frostscale.

The attack shaved off its scales and finally cut through the monster’s body.

When the Frostscale stumbled for a moment, Kéa took a big run-up and jumped.

She switched her grip on the sword and thrust it forward with all her power.

 ”This is it!”

Kéa’s sword sank deeply into the Eye of the Frostscale, and the monster let out a scream.

 It collapsed onto the snow.

 But it was still alive.

I quickly moved to the opposite side of the Frostscale from Kéa.

 ”Whoa-oh-oh!”

I clenched the sword tight in my hand, putting all my strength into one strike.

My aim was obviously the other eyeball.

With a sharp sound echoing through the snow, the sword pierced through the monster’s eye, smashing its brains inside a shell of icy blades and scales.

The shark twitched violently, convulsing hard.

And then, the icy blade scales finally gave out and crumbled to the ground.

 ”I-if I’ve… defeated it…”

I pulled out my sword and took a deep breath.

The silence around us signaled the end of the fight.

 That was a tough enemy.

As expected from the dungeon’s 4th floor, it didn’t go down easy.

”Milord! We did it, did we not?”

Kéa ran over happily, her face tired but with a proud, satisfied smile.

Lifia also looked a little exhausted but was smiling gently.

”Yeah, both of you did well.”

 I was pretty exhausted myself.

Maybe I should rest a bit.

Just as I thought that, my chest warmed up.

 This feeling…!

I hurried to check my status.

 ”Alright! Level up!”

 ”Wow! Congratulations!”

 ”Congrats, indeed!”

Kéa and Lifia both cheered in unison.

”Ah, thank you both. Thanks to you, I can buy what I was aiming for.”

With these new things I can now buy, I’ll be able to relax even better from today.

”So, what can you buy now?”

Kéa asked excitedly, and I flashed her the biggest smile I could.

 ”That… is a hot spring!”
