”There’s someone in there.”
”What?”
”She’s the bait, I guess.”
Lifia’s words make me frown without thinking.
A girl, one of the heroes, was left behind as bait for Hitchcock, and she’s in that pile of dirt, huh?
”Is she alive?”
”Yes, but she seems pretty weak.”
Kéa and I exchange a look and quickly get to work.
”We’re gonna dig her out.”
”Understood!”
We carefully move the dirt away.
Soon, a small body emerges from the earth.
The girl is listless, out cold.
She’s covered in cuts and dirt, her clothes are tattered.
But she seems to be hanging on to life somehow.
She must have buried herself to escape Hitchcock.
She could’ve used earth magic, maybe.
So, if Hitchcock attacks, just dive into the dirt, huh?
Not a bad bit of survival knowledge for this dungeon’s third floor.
Though, for me with my Love Hotel, it’s useless info.
Then I look at the girl’s face, and finally, I remember.
”This girl’s the one they called ‘Yomi’, right?”
”Yeah, she was the only one of the heroes who made some sense when she spoke.”
Lifia nods.
Yeah, I remember now.
She was the one who spoke up against the heroes when they exiled the Gold Rank adventurer, ‘Star of the Dawn’.
And when they tried to steal my Love Hotel, she was the only one who argued that “we should ask nicely and use it properly.”
In the end, the others ignored her.
Heroes are a bunch of stuck-up assholes.
But this girl was different.
She got treated like crap by those guys too.
They called her useless, ugly, and treated her rough.
I remember she always hid her face behind long bangs, with shadows under her eyes.
Her clothes were baggy, making her figure look shapeless.
But if you looked closely, she had a nice face, and I thought she could be pretty if she took care of herself.
And on top of that, she used earth magic in that situation to outsmart Hitchcock.
She can’t be incompetent.
They’re just blind, that’s all.
”Should we take her inside and treat her?”
I pick up the girl, Yomi.
Her body is light, and I can tell she’s weak.
”Are you going to help her?”
Lifia asks.
”Yeah. She was the most normal of the heroes. Probably, I can talk to her.”
If it doesn’t work, I’ll have to kick her out, but I hope it doesn’t come to that.
I carry Yomi into the Love Hotel room and lay her on the bed.
Taking off her tattered clothes… just as I thought.

Now, what’s going to happen?

If she’s got a good personality too, sticking her in a Love Hotel isn’t out of the question.
