Rising Monk V3c84

Volume 3 Chapter 84 Joint Battle (Moment)

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

He kicked off the stone floor of the observation deck, and in one Leap he got close to the 3 zombie soldiers.

Like a vampire, he left a trail of black mist.

Kian swung his magic sword at the man in the rearguard magician’s robe, and for one leap, he saw the face under the hood.

 (This face)

 ”────!”

 He cut and tore.

The magic sword, held behind his ear, let out a high scream and bit into the magician’s left shoulder.

He was about to cut him in half, down to his right hip, but Kian heard a sharp whoosh from behind and instantly went into Mist Form.

In Mist Form, physical attacks wouldn’t hit.

Of the two vanguards, the middle-sized Knight put his weight into a thrust with his sword, but it just tore through the air.

Kian appeared upside down above the 3 of them, swung his Windsong Blade again, aiming for the magician’s head──from his mouth to his throat, and his arm creaked.

 He kills the magician first.

If he can’t kill him, he damages his throat or tongue to take away his words.

That’s the usual way to fight a party alone.

 ”…Tch!”

But the returning blade was blocked at the last second by the other vanguard warrior──the big guy with the shield──who cut in.

He had already made his big body bigger with the Western swordsman’s body enhancement technique, and pushed back the large shield that had taken the magic sword with amazing strength.

 VOOOOOOO, he groaned.

The shield warrior’s jaw opened, and a crushed voice echoed.

Kian was bounced into the air, and the magician, protecting his shoulder that was hanging by a thread of skin, staggered back behind the vanguard.

 Probably to protect the magician.

The two swordsmen didn’t hesitate, kicking over the flowerbeds where bright, tropical flowers bloomed, and charged toward Kian.

(They are good users. The vanguard swordsmen’s movements are sharp, and their magic power is strong. The shield-bearer is less agile, but he is using skilled techniques and a well-trained body to fight.)

He wonders if these 3 are the same group of 3 who helped out in the Oswald battle.

They weren’t using the weapons and shield Owl had given them, so everything looked really different now.

He jumped to dodge a slash aimed at the ankles of the vanguard swordsman, simultaneously launching a lethal counterattack at their neck.

But that was blocked by the shielder who intervened.

Still, Maribel’s guard’s red shield crumpled with a nasty crunching sound.

 Kian narrowed his eyes.

 ”…….Hmm, got it.”

He dodged the blow that came from the edge of the shield, channeling magic power into his right hand.

The magic power inside Kian flared up, swirling like dark flames.

 (‘Silver Ice’ armor, eh?)

Red magic symbols appeared on his silver gauntlets.

Blue-white crystals formed in his hand, scattering with purple lightning.

It was the special effect of ‘Silver Ice’.

It sucked heat right out of the air.

With the heat stolen from the air, Kian manipulated it using ‘Silver Ice’ and blew it towards the two vanguards.

If they were alive, this alone would render them incapable of fighting.

But since they were dead, they staggered for a moment before following up.

Kian lightly stepped on a cycad trunk and retreated further back.

 ’Hey, Kian.’

(What? Sorry, I’m kind of busy right now. Can it wait?)

’That vampire, it’s not really a vampire.’

 (What do you mean?)

He saw the rearguard magician pointing a finger towards him.

They weren’t targeting Kian; they were casting healing on the vanguard swordsman and shield warrior.

They were aware that magic wouldn’t affect him.

 Very intelligent.

’It looks similar, but that one is just an ordinary person.’

(…….We’ll talk later. First things first.)

A swordsman approached, circling around a flower bed overflowing with yellow blooms.

Kian used Mist Form to dodge and struck the swordsman’s face hard with the hilt of Windsong Blade.

Then, with minimal movement, he aligned the blade of his magic sword against the shield of the shield-bearer who had also lunged at him.

 ”Oh!”

He put strength into his arm.

He shoved back the behemoth with beast-like strength and nearly 2 hundred kilos of weight.

When Kian swung his magic sword, the giant was unable to withstand it and staggered back.

The magician hurled a healing spell at the warrior’s broken arm.

The swordsman, who had been cowering from the beating, straightened up and stepped in front of the shield bearer, ready to defend.

(This trio had an excellent combination, their dense battle experience evident. Against Oswald, who relied solely on sword skills, they could probably last a few minutes. But the conditions were unfavorable this time.)

 ”……?”

The burly warrior stepped forward again to protect his companions.

However, he looked down at his own shield in astonishment.

A deep crack appeared in the red shield.

Before the magician could cast a repair spell, the lower half of the shield made a loud clanging sound as it hit the flower bed and skidded across the stone floor.

Of course, the equipment supplied by Owl and Maribel were of different grades.

Armor aside, the swords and shields currently used by the vanguard swordsman and the shield bearer were taken from Maribel’s guard unit.

Maribel’s equipment, except for the items supplied to some Beastmen units, was just ordinary steel without any magical engravings.

This was fatal for Western swordsmen whose combat abilities greatly depended on their gear.

The swordsman, who was well-muscled, had been careful not to let his magic sword be struck by the weapon, respecting the durability limits. But the shielder couldn’t do the same.

The magician had been casting healing and repair spells simultaneously, but in the end, it was impossible to continue blocking with the shield against the Windsong Blade.

Kian quickly closed the distance between them and the trio.

 ”────!”

The swordsman stepped forward to protect the shield bearer, aiming a sharp thrust at Kian’s chest.

But Kian smashed the attack down with the Windsong Blade.

Not just knocking it down, but smashing it.

The weapon shattered to pieces with a single blow, and the swordsman’s hollow eyes trembled through the visor’s gap.

 ”────”

In a last-ditch effort, Kian skillfully hooked his foot around the flower bed, pulling off a dirty trick that no ordinary knight would attempt.

Kian thought, unimpressed, “This guy was an Adventurer once?” Then, with a single leap, he chopped the swordsman’s head and limbs into pieces.

The giant man who charged next was met with a dodge and a punch to the face in the same motion.

A sticky, brown liquid splashed as the big guy was killed again.

 ”Ah…”

Kian slowly approached the magician standing still.

The magician, ineffective against Kian, could do nothing.

At most, he might have hidden a knife up his sleeve to strike at the last moment.

From the square below the observation deck, the groans of other undead soldiers could be heard.

They were likely being gradually subdued by Gao’s Beastmen guards.

The commotion below was slowly fading.

 ”T… Tha…”

’Wait, Kian. This guy’s trying to say something.’

 ”What is it?”

 ”Tha…nk yo…u”

 ”Huh?”

The magician knelt as if to accept the blade, spreading his hands wide.

Kian thought he might be trying to lure him in, but he was just stopping any resistance.

 ”Tha…nk yo…u for ki…lling”

 ”You are…”

 ”Ki…ling me”

”────. So, your face is all dried up like an old man’s, but you’re…”

Two months ago, during the Knights of the Sun succession ceremony in Oswald, he was one of the trio of warriors who fought Oswald.

 That slim magician guy.

Kian felt his skin crawl with goosebumps.

Then, among the corpses lying on the ground, one must be that cheerful, handsome swordsman, Guillaume of Izerland….

 ”Kill…me. I can’t… sta…nd it any…more.”
