 *Delprius Perspective

 ”Rosvita… I’m so bored right now…”

I had mobilized Black Wing to hunt monsters in the southwestern part of the Southern Region, requested by Kent.

I’ve been hunting for about a week now.

Right now, I was just lazily watching from atop a Dragonewt as the members of Black Wing slaughtered monsters below.

”Lady Delprius has been appointed as commander by King Kent. A commander should not recklessly fight at the front lines like a common soldier.”

Rosvita’s monocle sparkled in the sunlight.

I understood her point, but it was frustrating to miss out on the monster hunting.

My body was itching to join in on the combat.

 ”…Can I just go a little bit?”

”Lady Delprius… Your Combat Commander experience will still grow like this, so please hold back. If anything were to happen to you, I wouldn’t know how to explain it to King Kent…”

”Rosvita is such a killjoy… I want to slay lots of monsters and get praised by Kent! I’ve been patient for a whole week; it’s driving me crazy!”

 ”Ah! Please wait!! Lady Delprius!”

Ignoring Rosvita’s plea, I jumped off the Dragonewt and charged into the horde of monsters.

 GROOOAAARRR!!

A massive Thorn Mammoth suddenly charged at me in a fit of rage, rushing forward like a mad beast.

Its entire body was covered in thorny fur, and as it barreled toward me, it shredded the skin of another monster nearby.

 ”You’re too slow!!”

With one step, I dodged the Thorn Mammoth’s Sudden Rush and activated [Fighting Spirit], taught to me by Eclair, my master in fist fighting at Abyss Vena, to boost my punch’s power.

Then, I unleashed [Double Strike Palm], causing the mammoth’s side to explode on impact, scattering innards everywhere, and it collapsed sideways, spewing out a huge cloud of black mist as it perished.

”Whoa! Our princess is slaying monsters with her fists! Let’s follow her lead!”

The Dragonewts in the sky, roasting monsters with their breath, seemed fired up by seeing me, and they descended to the ground, joining the melee against the swarming monsters.

Originally, I had brought along young Dragonewts, who were eager and bloodthirsty, loving to fight, so I knew their greatest joy was in battle.

”Hey! Don’t just jump down! I told you to wait! Ugh!”

Rosvita hissed at the Dragonewts starting their brawl and landed herself, coming closer to my side.

”Lady Delprius, I’m reporting this to Sir Kent!”

Rosvita glared with her eyes wide and belched out [Dragon Breath], sweeping away the nearby groups of Shade Dogs and Black Dogs, annihilating them.

”Kent only said ‘Don’t do anything dangerous’! These weak monsters are no match for me!”

I shot back at Rosvita, then gathered my fighting spirit and unleashed an [Air Wave Palm] towards the artillery gecko preparing to shoot.

The mass of fighting spirit took the shape of a scythe, severing the tail of the artillery gecko that was about to fire.

 ”Princess, that was splendid-degozaru!”

A Dragonewt nearby cheered as it crushed the injured enemy underfoot.

”I fight with the soldiers! I’m sick of being a pretty face, just sitting in the back giving orders! Rosvita! If you don’t want Kent to get angry, help me!”

After saying that, she ran into the middle of the fight, where all the monsters were.

 *Rosvita’s Perspective

Every time Lady Delprius killed a monster, the Dragonewt members of the Black Wing cheered, and their spirits went up.

…Lady Delprius might be a different kind of ruler than the Black Dragon Clan has had before… Is this because of Sir Kent…?

Lady Fabulanova didn’t stop working on forges, but she never went to the front lines to fight monsters herself.

She let her subordinates do most of the monster hunting in the territory.

Considering all of this, Lady Delprius’s actions would be called reckless for a royal, but I felt so happy it didn’t even matter.

”Lady Delprius! Fine! Everyone, don’t fall behind Lady Delprius! If we let the Black Dragon Queen fight, we’ll be shamed for generations!”

I burned up the Gluttony Hoppers with [Dragon Breath].

After about an hour of fighting, the place that was once a green plain was now burnt to a crisp, not even a blade of grass left, and a lot of monster materials were scattered around.

”Phew, Lady Delprius… Let’s take a break. It looks like we’ve killed all the monsters in the hunting area. There aren’t any deep forests in the southwest, where there are a lot of plains, that would be good for magic elements to gather, and the Dragonewts were already hunting there, so I think we can end the expedition now…”

Delprius’s clothes were dark, soaked in the monster’s blood that was like magic, and her face and hair were all muddy.

”Not yet! The Dragonbone Mountains are still there! I heard it’s a treasure trove of ore, but many areas are crawling with the undead monsters that miners can’t get near. If we take this chance to slay the monsters infesting the Dragonbone Mountains, Kent will surely be happy. Plus, freeing the Dragonbone Mountains from monsters will definitely help Lindblum Town grow even more!”

I couldn’t hide my shock at Lady Delprius’s words.

Because whenever the talk turned to politics, she usually vanished, and I thought she wasn’t listening, but from her words now, it seemed she knew of the concerns of the people.
