Volume 13 Chapter 21 Hunting Point Ranking

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 *Kent’s Perspective

Despite the troublesome Black Bullet harassment incident, hunting in the southeastern region was going smoothly. Many Hunting Groups were out there, bringing down countless monsters and racking up impressive results.

Especially with the surge of newly discovered monsters, the Hunter Guild’s branch offices were busy daily registering new species.

The monster encyclopedia on Guild cards was updated every day.

Apparently, this had led to one of the monster encyclopedia compilers at the Hunter Guild collapsing from overwork, prompting an urgent shipment of reinforcements from Abyss Vena.

Meanwhile, the cumulative hunting points ranking was heating up.

Both the Hunter Guild and the Blackdagger family were eagerly watching which Hunting Group would claim the most hunting points in this major expedition.

”Kent… our Crimson Bride is sitting in 4th place. We should be able to hunt even more.”

As Milly gazed at the ranking board set up in the tavern, her brow furrowed with determination.

They had successfully hunted a significant number of A-rank monsters today and were still in the process of tallying their points.

Currently, my group, Crimson Bride, was ranked 4th, just a few dozen points behind the third-place King’s Sword.

Just so you know, hunting points break down like this: 150 points for defeating an S-rank monster or discovering a new species, 40 points for an A-rank, 10 points for a B-rank, 1 point for a C-rank, and no points for anything D-rank or lower.

 The ranking board showed:

First Place: Hand of Glory – Total Points: 4531

Second Place: Silver Wolf – Total Points: 4332

Third Place: King’s Sword – Total Points: 4121

Fourth Place: Crimson Bride – Total Points: 4095

Fifth place: Black Bullet, with a total of 3,867 points.

Sixth place: Astral Valkyrie, totaling 3,215 points.

Seventh place: Rootless Weed, at 3,098 points.

Eighth place: Wild Wind, with a total of 2,544 points.

Ninth place: Red Valkyrie, capturing 1,966 points.

Tenth place: Imaginary Hound, with 1,562 points.

 That’s how it stands.

The top spot is held by Mr. Soumei and his Hand of Glory, who’ve been obliterating the hordes of monsters with area magic.

They’ve been leveraging the funds they earned from crafting bullets to whip new recruits of the Hunting Group into shape, allowing them to shine in this current expedition and take the lead.

Silver Wolf sits in second place, still under a ban on recruiting new Hunting Group members.

But their veteran hunters are all seasoned Monster Hunters, flexing their brute strength to keep the focus on S-ranked hunts and maintain that second place.

Matthew was thrilled, too; thanks to this expedition, it looks like we might finally cover the compensation for the victims of the Silver Wolf incident.

Leading third place is Lakia from King’s Sword.

While she’s fighting valiantly, the gap left by Hendric is vast.

The lack of S-ranked monster takedowns has anchored them in third, and it’s clear they’re feeling the pressure.

Meanwhile, Black Bullet fell to fifth due to the devastation caused by the Sexual Harassment Triple Star.

It’s taken them a while to recover their strength.

But Kerstin hasn’t let it get her down; she’s more composed than ever, steadily building up her hunting results.

Surprisingly, the smallest hunting group, the Astral Valkyrie, managed to snag 6th place.

They’ve been remarkable at discovering new species──over 20 new monsters already hunted down and defeated──which skyrocketed their ranking.

Primarily focused on escorts, they also engage in monster hunting and specialize in exploring ruins, leading to the discovery of many new monsters in unexplored areas.

 Meanwhile, Rootless Weed is struggling.

With Iska and Rosalinda as their only reliable forces, they’re unable to take down S-ranks and boost their hunting points.

On another note, the Red Valkyrie, leading their select team and outfitted with high-quality equipment from G&R Workshop, has shown commendable effort by breaking into ninth place.

Still, the barrier to the top 3 is formidable.

Milly’s full of energy, but hunting S-ranks is no easy feat…

”Hey! Kent! Looks like you’re doing well too! Knowing you, I bet you’ve got your wives busy hunting S-ranks, huh?”

After a day’s hunting, Matthew was drinking with Thelma and the others at the tavern.

”Hold on, dear! I’ve told you repeatedly, Kent is the king! Show him some respect! After all, you’re a noble too!”

Thelma was tugging on Matthew’s ear, scolding him.

I didn’t really care much, though, so I just laughed and tried to mediate with Thelma.

”Ms. Thelma, it’s really fine. I still see myself as just Kent, and it’s true the king title is thanks to my wives, just like Mr. Matthew said.”

”…Is that so? I’ve been hearing from Carlamia that Kent’s skills have grown considerably lately.”

Soumei appeared behind me, returning from the hunt with his hunting group in tow.

”No, no──I might be the weakest in the Hunting Group. Sure, I’ve leveled up and unlocked quite a few jobs, but I’m still just scraping by in the middle ranks.”

”Now that’s some modesty. There’s no way someone who’s just a step above the middle ranks could survive among the S-rank hunters of the Crimson Bride. You really need to acknowledge your own strength.”

Soumei twirled his long bangs around his fingers, locking eyes with me as if to pierce through my act.

…Oh, so Mr. Soumei isn’t easily fooled, huh?

If I look at it from an ability standpoint, I’m getting closer to Milly’s level.

But if I openly admit I’ve gotten stronger, I could end up facing even more trouble…

”Soumei and Matthew, plus Sir Kent!? Are you all checking the rankings?”

It seems like Lakia and the others just wrapped up their hunt too, each of them carrying a hefty load of materials on their backs.

”Wow, that’s quite a haul… Are we falling further behind again?”

”I’m sorry, but I absolutely have to be at the top for this next expedition. Sir Kent better call me to his quarters afterward; there’s no way I’m slacking off.”

Lakia still seemed anxious about not being invited to my quarters, throwing herself into the hunt without a second thought.

The former Golden Apostles were welcoming her with open arms──real combat enthusiasts.

”Kent, I’m back! I took down some S-ranks today!”

Iska, now sporting a leopard-patterned transformation, leaped onto me with excitement.
