 *Kent’s Perspective

”Kent!!! You bastard, you left me behind on purpose, didn’t you! Even went outta your way to rig up some bombs and try to blow me to bits! Now look──my clothes are toast, my hair’s all fried and frizzy!”

I was dead asleep, totally satisfied after a whole night of wild exercise and games with the beast-girls and everyone else from the rescue squad.

And then, right in my ear, someone starts bellowing like a maniac.

…Damn it, who the hell is that.

I just wanted to relax and mess around with everyone ’til morning.

Way too freaking tired for this…

No helping it, I cracked open my heavy eyelids.

And there it was──a raging Clayd, glaring at me, his hair looking like a burnt-out perm from hell.

”Hey, Kent! Don’t think I don’t get what’s going on in that scheming gut of yours. Trying to off me, huh? You wanna get Dee──and hell, even Fabulanova──all to yourself. Too bad, pal! I’m not dead. Hope you’re disappointed.”

Clayd’s eyes were blazing with pure murder.

 His clothes?

 Riddled with singed holes.

With that roasted hair, he looked so ridiculous it was honestly hard not to bust out laughing.

 Holy crap, Clayd… I can’t, man… you look like a total joke.

That outfit’s straight up comedy material… Crap, I’m gonna lose it.

”Pfft… Haha… Mr. Clayd, are you seriously trying to kill me──with laughter? Buhaah… Puhuhuhu!”

Clayd saw me struggling not to laugh and suddenly fired off Body Enhancement Magic with no chanting, his whole body lighting up in crazy rainbow colors.

”Don’t think you’re safe just ’cause you’re Dee’s husband! I’m freakin’ done holdin’ back! You’re dead, Kent!”

Clayd lunged at me in bed, fist swinging.

But out from under the sheets, Dee, butt n*ked, popped up and caught Clayd’s punch like it was nothing.

”Father, your daughter got bred by Kent nearly until sunrise and I want to sleep now… If you’re gonna keep yelling, take it outside… yawn…”

After Dee took in Bendavar’s soul, she got a whole new Job and leveled up like crazy.

She was on a different level from before the expedition──seriously, she’d powered up big time.

So, even when her dad Clayd──the self-proclaimed strongest on the Demon Continent──got serious and threw a full-on slam punch, she caught it like it was nothing.

That’s the Red Delprius for you, inheritor of Bendavar, the scariest dragon out there.

”What──?! Dee! Why are you getting in my way?! And you were with Kent AGAIN, weren’t you?! Ungrateful little brat!”

”Ugh, Father is so noisy. Now that Kent and I are getting stronger, he’s all worked up and being a pain just ’cause he’s not in the spotlight anymore. Even leaving him behind in the village──couldn’t be helped, since no one notices him anyway.”

Clayd dropped to his knees, hands on the floor──stunned both by his daughter’s brutal honesty and how easily she stopped his serious Plap (slam) punch.

Whew… Ms. Dee isn’t pulling her punches.

Kinda gotta feel bad for Clayd here.

If my son or daughter ever said that to me, I’d never recover.

”Dee… Dee’s gone bad. She never used to talk to me like this… Dammit, dammit, she picked her husband over her father!”

”You’re so pathetic when you start whining, Father…”

Clayd, sulking as he traced little spirals on the floor, looked exactly like a useless dad out of some sad comedy.

”Come on, come on. Mr. Clayd, you’re still plenty strong, y’know. Don’t get all mopey.”

”Idiot… I’m not ‘plenty’ strong. I’m the strongest on the whole Demon Continent.”

In the end, they just left Clayd alone to sulk──it was honestly too much trouble.

Then, just to rub salt in the wound, Milly muttered softly.

”…Maybe you’re not the strongest anymore… If Kent and Dee teamed up, Mr. Clayd, you couldn’t win.”

 ”N-no way… I trained too, you know… There’s no way I’d lose to Kent and Dee──IDIOTS!! You’ll see!!”

Clayd, still doodling his little spiral on the floor, suddenly jumped up, kicked the bedroom door open, and stormed off.

From behind, he somehow looked smaller──like he’d lost some of his shine.

”Father is such a busy man… He suddenly shows up, then suddenly runs off again…”

Dee sighed as she looked at the door Clayd had kicked down and ran through.

The next day, we captured Clayd sulking in a corner of Felward Fortress and selected the Reconnaissance Unit for the Abyss Gate.

The team consisted of Delprius, Ludmila, Milly, Lina, Iska, Clayd, Valentina, and me──8 of us in a Small Unit, set to carry out a tough reconnaissance mission at the Abyss Gate.

Dee and I led the way, while the others traveled in Ludmila’s transport cage.

We set off straight for the Abyss Gate.

When we flew close to what we thought was the Abyss Gate, a scene unfolded below us──glittering silver in the sunlight, reflecting brilliantly.

 ”…What the hell… is this…?”

Below us, silver-armored monsters, sprouting from the ground, were methodically attaching limbs to the body of an ‘another world monster’ resting on a cart running along rails laid across the ground.

Sparks flew from another silver-armored monster as it appeared to weld the limbs it had attached.

…Is this a production line in a factory?

There’s some organic, almost blood-vein-like texture, but it really looks like a mechanical production line… If this place is this huge, just how many of these things are being produced…?

We watched as cart after cart passed by, silver-armored monsters from the ground taking on the role of industrial robot arms, assembling the ‘another world monsters.’

As the completed ‘another world monsters’ got off the carts one by one, they lined up neatly on a flattened, smoothed surface.

There were already hundreds of the same ‘otherworldly monsters’ waiting there, and it looks like they’re cranking out 50 to a hundred of these things a day.

For now, the only thing set up in our world is the assembly line, but it seems like the real production is happening in another dimension, because bodies are rolling in on carts from the depths of the biggest crack in time and space, the Abyss Gate.

”Kent!! The enemy’s coming up. What do we do? Engage them?”

The ground-based ‘otherworldly monsters’ had spotted us, and a whole bunch of flying ones were taking to the skies.

It was clear that if we left them alone, the enemy numbers would just keep growing each day, so we decided to take out the assembly line first and then retreat.
