Volume 14 Chapter 17 Demon Continent Summit – Part II

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

”We’re somehow holding on, but we can’t last forever. Enemies keep appearing without end, while our allies are wounded, and it’s only a matter of time before a decisive breakdown happens──it’s an undeniable fact.”

The images showed soldiers of the Margrave South District army firing muskets and arrows from atop the walls, desperately trying to repel the approaching ‘monsters from another world.’

”As you can see from the images, the Margrave South District is currently in great peril. However, this is no longer just our country’s problem. If our nation is ravaged by ‘monsters from another world,’ the harm will spread to your countries as well, eventually leading to a situation where no one can live on the Demon Continent. I believe we must seal these ‘monsters from another world’ back into their realm and block the another world gate──the Abyss Gate──before it’s too late.”

Just as the images ended, the dark curtain opened, and light spilled into the round table.

The leaders of the various countries seemed to have felt some urgency after watching the images, but they still hadn’t made their decisions clear.

Then, Yaalan broke the silence among the leaders.

”Lord Kent… We’ve watched the footage you provided. But, do you have any proof that those images are real? I am responsible for a country. I cannot simply send reinforcements. My own country is facing deteriorating public order, and a grand expedition to the Southern Region is not feasible in our current state.”

”Then, is Lord Yaalan saying that it’s fine for the Demon Continent to perish?!”

The words of Yaalan’s self-centeredness were too much to bear.

”No, we cannot abandon our ally. But, even if I want to send reinforcements, we have no money for military expenses. An empty sleeve cannot wave.”

immediately throws out the idea of sharing costs to Yaalan, who is bemoaning the lack of funds.

”Our country will pay for all the war expenses. Food, supplies, everything. We just need you to bring your soldiers and fight. We desperately need more soldiers”

”You’ll pay for the war… Hmm, as expected of the richest nation on the Demon Continent. But, even if we gather an army now, it’ll take 2 months to reach Felward. Won’t the Margrave South District be gone by then?”

Yaalan seems to be looking for a reason to refuse, but I wonder how they plan to deal with the ‘another world monster’ that will come after they refuse.

Yaalan’s reluctance to send troops makes me angry.

”Fine. If you’re paying, I’ll fight as much as you want! Honestly, I’m itching for a fight. But, the condition for joining is a mutual ceasefire treaty between all the leaders here. If we have that, I’ll send troops immediately.”

Nokin, who had been silent, declares his intention to join the fight, as if he has made a decision.

”Lord Nokin, you have made a wise decision. I will fight alongside you!”

”If the conditions proposed by Lord Nokin are met, I will also join. To move our soldiers as quickly as possible, let’s have the airship squadron handle the transportation. That will greatly shorten the journey to Felward Fortress”

Fabulanova also agreed to join if a mutual ceasefire treaty is signed by the countries participating in the meeting, as Nokin proposed.

Moreover, they have stated that they will take on the transportation of soldiers, which was a bottleneck.

This was a very pleasant surprise.

By using the airship squadron in the Black Dragon Dukedom, the time it takes to transport soldiers will be greatly reduced, making it easier to conquer the another world gate (Abyss Gate).

…Nokin and Fabulanova, if we are destroyed, they could be the next targets, so they probably want to close it while they can.

Nokin and Fabulanova agreed to join, as long as some conditions were met.

Shifa had already said she’d take part.

So now, only Yaalan hadn’t given an answer yet.

But Yaalan still seemed to be wavering.

He hadn’t shown any sign of wanting to fight.

”Hey, Lord Yaalan! What’s it gonna be? Are you fighting the ‘another world monster’── or not!?”

I raised my voice, trying to provoke him.

Hoping it would make him decide.
