Yuri flashed so bright it hurt to look──and just like that, Yaalan and his crew vanished.
”Yaalan! Don’t you dare run!”
”Mr. Kent, focus on His Majesty Shifa! You’re the only one here who can use advanced healing magic.”
I went to chase Yaalan, but my stepmother yanked me back.
She shoved me toward Shifa, who was stabbed with that poisoned dagger, telling me to help.
Damn it, Yaalan…!
I gave up on the chase and dropped to Shifa’s side.
No time to think──started chanting a healing spell right away.
”O gathering mana! Become healing, wash this body clean──Restore Health!”
Magic light wrapped around Shifa, but nothing.
No sign the spell worked.
”Guess I have to close the wound first…”
”Hey! Get a grip, dummy! Seal the wound, then flush the poison! That’s healing 101──pull it together!”
My anger at Yaalan, Shifa dying right in front of us──I lost it.
Lina kicked me hard and snapped me back to my senses.
”R-Right! Got it! O gathering mana──bring new breath, heal him! Revive!”
I eased the dagger out of his heart, then cast the magic to fix the damage.
The spell kicked in.
Blood stopped, the wound closed over, but Shifa’s face twisted in pain.
He wasn’t out of danger yet.
”Next, the poison. O gathering mana──purge his body, draw out the toxin! Cure Poison!”
The spell worked, but the poison didn’t drain out of him.
No change.
He was still shaking, fighting for breath.
”It’s not working… The Dream Demon assassins used some special stuff… Damn it, if only Milly were here… I’ve got nothing left that’ll cure this…”
”Kent… Don’t weep. I… I’ll be gone soon… Guh, this pain… like my body’s tearing apart… This is the price… for talking with Gwain and pretending to be the Demon Lord… History will call me the dumbest Demon Lord in the True Demon Kingdom… Guff…”
Red blood gushed from Shifa’s mouth, staining the floor.
His eyes were already empty.
It was clear his time was almost up.
”Your Majesty Shifa! Hold on! I… I…”
”Forgive me. Because of my weakness… I couldn’t control Yaalan… I’m truly sorry… Guff, guff…”
”Your Majesty Shifa!!”
”I haven’t much time left. King Kent Blackdagger, listen to the last request of this pathetic Demon Lord… Please.”
Shifa gripped my hand tightly, like he was trying to make his dying light burn brighter.
”Please. Take my place as Demon Lord. Defeat Yaalan, and destroy the ‘another world monster.’ Bring peace back to the people of the Demon Continent. Only Kent Blackdagger can do it! Please, as a friend, as a brother-in-law, this is my final wish!! Guff, guff, guff-wooo!!”
Shifa coughed, spewing more red blood onto the floor.
The poison was probably melting his insides.
I couldn’t refuse Shifa’s desperate plea, not with him so close to death.
”…Your Majesty Shifa’s wish… I, Kent Blackdagger, accept it. Until then, I’ll take the position of Demon Lord from you. Please let me give the title to someone worthy when I’ve fulfilled Your Majesty’s wish.”
I squeezed Shifa’s hand back, promising to fulfill his wish.
”Guff, Gofogho! Kent is too indifferent… oh well. I permit it. I shall temporarily entrust the Demon Lord’s throne to Kent Blackdagger. And Kent, I want you to love and care for my succubi wives as well. Poor succubi… I want them to live forever at Kent’s side. This is not a request as the Demon Lord, but as a personal favor… Guff!”
”…Understood. I shall have my wife’s sisters tell the tale of the great Demon Lord Shifa Secundadi for generations to come.”
”I leave it to you… guff, guff, gohuuuuuu”
Shifa coughed up more blood than ever before, and then, she stopped breathing.
”Your Majestyyyyyyyyy!!”
I was screaming, holding the lifeless body of Shifa.

So, with the passing of the True Demon Kingdom’s Demon Lord, Shifa Secundadi, the Capital City fell into chaos once more.
It was because Aldo, who had been taken in by Yaalan, turned against the Kingdom, seizing control of the Capital City and beginning to capture the opposition.
We managed to escape the Capital City with Miriel’s guidance, slipping into the Margrave South District mansion in the suburbs.
However, the formation of the ‘another world monster’ extermination army was a complete failure.
And so, we holed up in the mansion with the Kingdom’s army gathered by my stepfather, waiting for further news.
Already, Nokin had returned to the Eastern Garuda Principality with Alonsa, and Fabulanova had fallen just as Yaalan had predicted, becoming nothing more than a female of the Black Dragon Clan, the Dragonia.

Many are injured.
More people join Kent’s side: Fabulanova, Clayd, Arbalest, Quenelra, Letticia, Julius, Nokin, Garo, Alonsa, Repulus, and Bartram.
This fight against Yaalan… it’s going to be tough.
The Margrave South District country is in a bad spot.
Aldo, Hendric, and Ugno have switched sides.
They’re with Yaalan, who controls most of the Demon Continent, and has help from the Eastern Continent.
Plus, there’s a ‘monster from another world’ involved.
Things could get bloody.
More guys might die.
But, hey, there’s a chance to capture the enemy succubus.
Kent could become the Demon Lord and we get the ending.
