Volume 3 Chapter 105 The Opening Of The Erotic Gear That Only I Can See
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Nope. She’s actually feeling a lot better. But she’s not fully healed. Ms. Sarah says we’re sneaking in together. But Ms. Ninini insists she’s going too and won’t back down.”
”Are they arguing?”
”Yeah… At first, they were just discussing the methods and escape routes, but now they’re in a staring contest, fighting over whether Ms. Ninini should go.”
”Got it. I’ll talk to both of them.”
”I’ll grab some food from the tavern. There’s hot water ready, so when you get back, clean up.”
”Thanks. That helps.”
Serena turned towards the tavern, saying, “Don’t worry about it,” as she walked off.
Kian headed back to the cabin where they were staying for the night.
When he opened the door to the room where the women were staying, he found Sarah and Ninini sitting across from each other at a rough table, their eyes locked in a staring contest.
”How did the reconnaissance go? Was Ms. Vestacia at the northern fortress?”
”No, she wasn’t there.”
”I see. I thought she might have charged into a group of Bloodsucking Kind again, but it seems I was wrong. Your clothes aren’t stained with blood.”
”Mm-nya. But I do smell blood. Did you hurt your arm-nya?”
”What!?”
Sarah stood up, her expression changing dramatically.
She approached Kian, grabbing his right hand.
She removed the ‘Silver Ice’ and examined his right arm all over.
”Blood on a broken inner layer. Are you lying? Were you pierced through the arm? Are you okay? How about the bone?”
”You’ll know if you look. It’s healed up, no issues.”
”That’s not the problem, silly! Where did you get hurt?”
”I got caught in a trap at the northern fortress. But thanks to that, I found some valuable treasure.”
”Don’t take risks, I’m telling you, it’s no use… But I’ll say it anyway. Don’t take risks.”
”I got it.”
”Like you understand-nya…”
Ignoring the bewildered Ninini, Sarah peeled back Kian’s inner layer and applied a healing spell.
His body had no issues, so the spell had no effect.
It just made him tingle a little.
”Glad you’re okay. But poison could’ve got in through that wound, you know.”
”Fine, go ahead and fuss till you’re satisfied.”
”But you look pretty healthy. I wonder why that is?”
”You’re way too protective. Kian’s sitting there, totally creeped out-nya.”
”Were you discussing the way in and out?”
Kian saw the conversation going in circles and decided to cut in.
”What about the team sneaking in, and the ones outside helping us escape? Has anyone decided who’s going where?”
”Me and Sarah will sneak in-nya. You and Serena, stay outside and get the horses ready-nya.”
”No.”
Sarah interrupted, checking under Kian’s eyes and inside his mouth.
”Kian and I are the ones going in. Ms. Ninini, Ms. Serena, please wait outside and help us escape when the time comes.”
”I’m not giving up-nya! I’m the one going to save Rean and Vest-nya!”
Kian watched Ninini, who sat slumped in a tattered chair.
Her breathing was steady.
Pulse normal.
No weird look to her face.
But her magic power stayed soft, flickering.
She still wasn’t back to normal.
Warriors from the west fight by boosting their bodies with magic.
But in that state, she could never face a Wolfmen warrior head-on.
Still, if fighting isn’t allowed, her weak magic power might actually help.
Easier to slip past the enemy’s magic power sensing.
As long as she’s not fighting, her body is good enough for the mission.
”One more day of rest and I’ll be all better-nya.”
”You’re not a vampire. You can’t recover that fast. Ms. Ninini, you went nearly a whole week without food or water. And you took heavy hits from both me and Kian──your insides and bones are still a mess.”
”That’s almost all your fault-nya!”
”Yes, so we will take responsibility for helping Mr. Rean and the others. Ms. Ninini, please guide us so that we can escape the camp as quickly as possible. This is just as important as the infiltration team.”
”Sarah. Please. Let me go-nya. If I don’t, I don’t even know how I could face Rean or Vest. I can’t-nya.”
”──Then maybe we can just wait one day, can’t we?”
Kian watched as Sarah slathered ointment onto his arm, then wrapped it tight with layers of bandages.
He looked bored out of his mind.
”Tonight, I’ll talk to Her Excellency Maribel and Ms. Priscilla about the plan. If Her Excellency gives us a clear ‘wait’ order, we’ll stay put. We need to prep, too. Like making straw dummies to put in the holding cell instead of Rean and Ms. Vestacia.”
”Already done.”
Sarah replied, pointing to the corner of the room.
Two ragged, limp dolls were tossed there without care.
”I’ve got scent-blocking powder, too. Smoke bombs, rope ladder, sleeping drugs, laxatives, everything we might need.”
”You work way too fast, Kian.”
”Thanks. I hear that a lot.”
”You’re so smug, it’s driving me nuts-nya!”
”We’ve sorted out almost all the details for the rescue. None of us disagreed about how to do it.”
Sarah let go of Kian’s arm and pointed at the map spread over the desk.
”Mr. Rean is probably locked up in this area, south-southwest of the camp. For Ms. Vestacia, we’re not sure where the research tent is. It’s either Barghest’s personal tent or the one where his family sleeps. Most likely, she’s in his personal tent. If she’s being held at that camp at all.”
”So there’s a chance they’re hidden somewhere else?”
”Yeah. The Wolfmen warriors didn’t know Ms. Vestacia was a captive. If they want her for secret research, they might move her somewhere quiet and stash her out of sight──not in the main camp.”
But Wolfmen are a tribe that keeps moving.
Sure, they have a place to hunker down for winter, but it’s pretty far from here.
After they caught Vestacia at that old temple, would they really send a whole separate group just to haul her all the way back to their base?
Keeping them alive after the transfer would be tough, so it’s better to assume they’re being held somewhere in that encampment.
”Check the Barghest’s tent for Ms. Vestacia. If she’s not there, give up and pull back. We’re dealing with the strongest mercenary group in the Western World. If Mr. Rean can help, it’s a blessing.”
”Both! Absolutely! We’ll save them-nya!”
Ninini scowled, clearly upset.
She had her own activities as ‘Lion’s Companion’ to consider after the rescue.
She wanted to resolve any internal conflicts within the party, ensuring everyone’s safety, and was determined to achieve the best possible outcome.
Kian nodded slightly.
”I understand Ms. Ninini’s situation. Wait a day. We should try to bring you with us if we can. Simply rescuing them won’t fully save your party.”
”…Understood. If the leader says so, I won’t argue. Ms. Ninini, please get some rest today. If everything’s the same, we’ll leave you behind.”
”Thanks-nya”
”No need to thank me.”
Kian shook his head, and ‘glasses’ called out to him worriedly.
’Kian, we should leave that cat behind. We should only focus on the success of our quest. We don’t know if “Lion’s Companion” is falling apart internally.’
(Denying Ms. Ninini now might lead her to charge into the encampment on her own.)
Kian sipped the herbal tea Sarah had prepared.
(This person is still a skilled scout. If she follows our command, bringing her along won’t be a problem. On the other hand, if we don’t bring her and the mission fails, that future is also a possibility.)
’That may be so, but…’
”Sarah, prepare 2 horses. If it’s too difficult, I can ask Wing──”
”Already done.”
Sarah answered while strapping on her hip pouch.
Is she planning to go somewhere?
”I went to the black panther tribe’s camp during the day and stuffed the horse stalls with Gold Coins. They’ll cover our expenses, right?”
”────”
Sarah winked, leaving Kian with his mouth agape.
