Dad, Shouma, is a university professor.
He can’t just lie around forever.
He’s got dark circles under his eyes, his face drawn and tired──but even so, he went back to work yesterday. Thanks to that, tonight, he finally managed to get some sleep.
Mom, Harue, looks completely worn out.
She hasn’t been able to swallow food for 5 days. Barely eaten anything at all.
Haruto, who’s in intensive care, can’t have any visitors.
Still, every morning, Herue goes to the hospital anyway, and waits in the lounge until visiting hours end.
After coming home, she makes dinner.
Only 2 people there──still, she cooks enough for 3.
At night, she’s too scared to sleep, always dreading a call from the hospital.
Can’t help but imagine the worst, every single time she hears the phone.
RRR…RRR…
Phone rings in the middle of the night. That can only mean one thing──the hospital.
Shouma and Harue both bolt upright and run for the phone.
’H-hello, Ichijou speaking.’
Harue was the one who answered.
”This is Ohno from the Prefectural Medical University Hospital.”
Just as she feared. It’s the hospital.
Harue squeezes her eyes shut.
Terrified. Terrified. Terrified.
”Haruto-kun’s woken up.”
’I──it’s true?! Thank goodness! Oh, thank you!’
Tears spill out──tears she thought had all dried up.
Shouma sees her face, understands everything, and pulls her close.
The doctor said it’s only a quick check, but Haruto doesn’t seem to have any language or memory problems.
They’ll do more tests tomorrow, but for now, they hung up after thanking the doctor over and over again.
That night, Shouma and Harue finally slept, clinging to each other until morning.

When visiting hours start, Shouma and Harue are already at the hospital──they rush into Haruto’s room.
Clack!
”Haru-kun! Haruto!!”
Both parents crash into him, half-laughing, half-crying──faces haggard, eyes raw.
Haruto takes one look at them and just bursts into tears. Forgets he used to be a middle-aged guy in his last life. All he can do is sob and apologize.
”I-I’m sorry──I’m so sorry!”
He thought he could use his powers, but he only knew the basics.
Screwed up──this wasn’t just some tiny mistake.
The gods gave him insane power.
He even kept all 42 years of his old memories.
He figured his second life would be a cakewalk──
Somewhere, he was overconfident.
From this day on, Haruto would face his second life with real seriousness.
