Rising Monk V3c107-3

Volume 3 Chapter 107 Infiltration Operation II

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Kian had a leisurely nap during the day and woke up around 5 in the evening, then went to Wing: Cain for supplies. After that, he promptly returned to the village.

Sarah and the others, who had finished all the preparations, were waiting outside the cabin.

The village head was also in front of the cabin, chatting and laughing with Sarah.

Even from a distance, Sarah was all glossy and radiant.

Whether she was wearing makeup or not, her figure and gestures seemed more feminine. The village head was sneaking peeks at her chest and rear, his nostrils flaring.

Kian approached the 3 of them, taking the place of the village head.

”Got the supplies. We’re ready to go anytime.”

”The horses are fine too. I’ve memorized the route. Once everyone extracts Mr. Rean and the others, we can guide the escape right away.”

”We’ll leave when the western sun gets thick-nya. By now, ‘Storm Herd’ must be having a bad case of the runs from that contaminated lunch-nya.”

”Sarah, did the flies dive into the soup for lunch alright?”

When Kian asked, Sarah nodded “Yes,” in a no-nonsense, work mode that left no trace of morning intimacy.

”They jumped into the oatmeal, not the soup. The poison is potent even when heated, so they should be fine. Although, their shamans must have finished the healing by now.”

”Healing magic won’t restore lost fluids and strength. The warriors who took the laxatives should be significantly weakened. Good job, Sarah.”

 ”Just a morning’s work.”

 Sarah chuckled and winked.

Her charming smile was at odds with the rather nasty business she was conducting.

Christy and Aliona are powerful magicians who can wipe out a whole unit with their high firepower, as long as they’re not in close range. But Sarah… she’s even more dangerous. She’s a Head Magician, and she can do things like spread plagues with insects. If she wanted, she could wipe out a whole country, especially one that doesn’t have the proper defenses.

Kian had sworn to himself not to anger her, except when it came to… well, certain things.

”Hey, can Rufna use insects too?”

”Of course. She’s my Head Magician. It’s obvious.”

”Then why didn’t she use them before…?”

”Attacking with insects would go against Azrael’s warrior monk code. We usually let the lower-ranked ones take care of that kind of thing. Besides, controlling insects to spread disease or poison requires precision. If it goes wrong, it could backfire on us. After the mission, it could turn the local oasis into a disaster.”

”I see… If we mess up, the whole trade route could be ruined.”

”Exactly. That’s why we don’t use them unless we absolutely have to. It’s like ‘Thunder’──it’s not something you can just pull off without practice. Though, I’ll admit, I’m pretty good at it.”

”How did you get so good at controlling insects?”

Kian asked, looking over at Ninini, who was trying her best to ignore them by pressing her cat ears down and staring off in a random direction.

Sarah gave Kian a strange look, like he had just said something out of place.

”You’re asking me that? Insects, poison, blast bombs… I learned from the ‘great’ masters who climbed their way up by using those dirty tricks. Warriors shouldn’t stoop to such methods, but… well, that’s what I was taught.”

 ”──”

 Kian fell silent.

Sarah looked at him with a face that said, “I knew you’d react like that.” Then, she clapped her hands together and looked around at the group.

”Alright, everyone. Time to move out. Ms. Serena, make sure Kian’s gear gets transported, and take care of the rest.”

”Got it. Leave it to me. Ms. Sarah, please try to keep things as smooth as possible.”

”Sure. As smooth as I can, anyway.”

”Kian, you’re going in that outfit?”

 ”Yeah.”

Tonight, they’d be using the ‘Nightshade’ gear, perfect for stealth.

Kian had wrapped himself in a black frock coat for the first time in weeks, except for a brief moment last night.

His ‘Silver Ice’ armor and the Windsong Blade were left behind.

Serena would transport them to the rendezvous point ahead of time.

He hid his weapons inside the coat, letting the Night Wraith carry an ordinary iron sword.

Unlike the Windsong Blade, he wouldn’t enhance the weapon’s attack power and durability with the warrior monk’s basic skill ‘Impact’. Otherwise, it would never penetrate the Wolfmen’s enhanced muscle tissue.

His combat ability would suffer, but that was fine.

Warrior monks were meant to be cost-effective fighters, overwhelming enemies with whatever weapons or branches were at hand.

For Kian, who proudly relied on his swordsmanship and preferred to overpower his foes with skill alone, this kind of stage was exactly what he wished for.

’We’re going in with this one, right?’

(Yes… Reluctantly, I have no choice.)

”Serena, your job is super dangerous and very important-nya.”

”Yeah, I know. I’m the one who has to transport the supplies.”

”Don’t take it lightly just because you’re left out. If you let your guard down, you might not only lose your gear, but you could even die-nya.”
