*Nokin’s Perspective
I rushed to the mountaintop position. I looked down at the ‘another world monsters’. They were trapped. Rockfalls from the high mountains on both sides had blocked the basin’s exit, cutting them off.
The river was dammed upstream, higher than the wetlands. The difficult terrain of the wetlands slowed the Medium-sized and larger ‘another world monsters’. They were stuck, unable to move. Only the Small-sized ones, being lighter, were climbing the mountain to attack our position.
Small-sized ‘another world monsters’ reached the fence. Spears from inside pierced their bodies, sending them tumbling down the slope. Garo, who was directing the soldiers, came over, catching his breath.
”Garo! What’s the damage?! Tell me what you know!”
”The troops in the decoy unit have taken minimal losses. The ‘another world monsters’ attacking the position are all Small-sized, so we’re almost unscathed. Lord Repulus’s position is also in about the same shape. The enemy’s decoy was a complete success.”
”Not unscathed, but we’ve thrown them into this hellhole with minimal damage. About 40 thousand, maybe…”
”The Medium-sized and larger ones are stuck in the wetlands. Only Small-sized are attacking. We can push them back without the fence breaking.”
”Wait. We should follow Alonsa’s Instructions. Raise the flag to signal that the troops are secured! With this clear weather, Alonsa should be able to see it easily.”
”Yes! Lord Repulus’s position is already waving the flag, so I’ll do it immediately.”
Garo gave instructions to the soldiers behind him, gesturing with his hand. The soldiers sprinted forward. They waved a General flag for Alonsa to see, who was stationed upstream. Below, ‘another world monsters’ struggled in the swamp. Others tumbled down the slopes, blocked by the high mountain positions. They glared at our soldiers, their eyes filled with hate.
Hmph, let them seethe. They’re already in a death trap. All that’s left is a gruesome end!
Alonsa smiled, imagining her deadly plan. She took a swig of lukewarm water from her waterskin to soothe her fatigue.

*Alonsa’s Perspective
”Lady Alonsa! The flag has been raised from both mountain positions!”
Nokin and Geronimo had lured about 40 thousand enemies with minimal losses. The swamp, overflowing with ‘another world monsters’, had become their prison. High mountains rose on both sides, surrounding the basin’s entrance. The ‘another world monsters’ couldn’t retreat back to the plains because of the rockfalls. And they were unable to advance because of the swamp.
Just as I predicted, the Medium-sized and large monsters with low terrain-crossing ability were stuck. Only the Small-sized ‘another world monsters’ could move. They couldn’t break through the high mountain positions and were forced back into the swamp.
”Alright! Pour plenty of burning water and animal fat into the river! It’s a gift from Margrave South District, so don’t be stingy!!”
”Yes, ma’am! Right away!”
An officer nearby relayed instructions to the soldiers waiting by the dam. We discovered this place soon after garrisoning Felward Fortress. We used soldiers to dam the Feto River. The water had accumulated to an astonishing amount. If we break the dam, the swamp, with its blocked exit, will be completely submerged.
Barrels of burning water and animal fat were dumped into the Feto River by the soldiers, turning it into a lake. Black water began to float on the surface.
”Once you’re done, break the dam immediately! Everyone else, move away from the dam and head to higher ground!”
The soldiers, done pouring oil, ran towards a higher position, except for a few. Once most were safe, the officer signaled to fire an arrow.
”Now! Break the dam!”
WHOOOOOOSH!!
The soldiers left behind got the signal and started to tear down the dam. One wrong move and they’d be swallowed by the muddy flow, dropping straight into a monster-filled hell. So, they picked only the quickest and most agile to stay behind.
As the soldiers broke the dam with picks, cracks spread across it like a zipper. Water sprayed out with a thunderous roar, and the held-back water rushed into the wetlands.
”Seems our plan was perfect. Didn’t think we’d manage to flood those ‘another world monsters’ so well.”
A mix of wood and rocks from the broken dam surged into the wetlands, swallowing the ‘another world monsters’. The smaller ones disappeared into the muddy flow.
”Hehehe, nice! They’re getting all wet. It’s so satisfying when things go just as planned.”
From the high ground, they watched medium-sized ‘another world monsters’ struggle in the muddy flow, and large ones being engulfed, taking pleasure in the sight.
Soon, the flow that attacked the monsters lost its force, and the wetlands were covered with water.
”Alright, let’s finish this off nicely. Nokin, Repulus, signal them! Rain down Fire Arrows!”
”Yes! I’ll wave the flag right away!”
Flags waved on the top of the hill, seen by Nokin and Repulus. A big red flag fluttered loudly.
”Get the fire arrows ready! Start firing as soon as you can! Burn those guys to a crisp! Heehee.”
The Soldiers lined up in the camp reacted fast. They lit their arrows on fire, then shot them toward the lake. The fire arrows flew into the water. When they hit the hot, flaming water, the flames spread across the lake surface in no time.
Nearly dodging the raging water, an ‘another world monster’ floating on the lake was caught in the fire. It screamed in rage, thrashing its arms and legs. But soon, it stopped moving, sank down, and disappeared into the lake bottom. The signal flags reached Nokin and Repulus too. From the mountains on both sides, more fire arrows rained down, expanding the burn zone on the lake, hurting more of the monsters.
”Yesss! This is it! I’ve been waiting for this moment of joy! Ugh──!! Why isn’t Nokin here?! My plan totally worked!!”
Even in the thick of battle, I got overly excited. My heart raced ── I jumped around happily, like a girl. Threw a big fist in the air with a triumphant pose.
”Lady Alonsa…”
Nearby, an Officer looked at me with a tired face, annoyed.
Ah, oops. I got so happy I lost control of my usual cool.
”Nngh! What I just saw… It’s top secret! If I tell anyone, I’ll be banished from the country.”
”Y-Yes! I didn’t see a thing!”
”Good. I don’t like kids with loose lips.”
I pat the officer’s shoulder, trying to keep a straight face. Then, I look at the lake, now a battlefield full of ‘another world monsters’.
After that, the lake, turned into a monster-killing zone, had swallowed almost all the enemy ── over 40 thousand. The number of monsters floating on the lake had dropped to just a few hundred.
