Chapter 26 Jealousy
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
One day, when he was in the second year of middle school,
”Study freak, someone seems to be calling you”
”Huh? What?”
Looking at the entrance to the classroom, he saw a few older boys staring at him.
He had a bad feeling, but he decided to go anyway.
”What is it?”
”Come here for a sec!”
He was led to a corner by the stairs.
One of the older boys suddenly grabbed me by the collar.
”You think you’re all that, huh?”
”Huh? Me?”
He had no idea what he was talking about.
The boys in his class still called him “Study freak,” he was class president, year president, and even student council secretary. If that’s what he meant by “getting carried away,” he could kind of understand.
”Did I do something?”
”You’ve been messing around with the girls, touching their thighs and grinning like an idiot, huh?”
Hearing that, he finally understood.
If they said he was grinning, then he probably was.
Basically, they didn’t like him getting along with the girls. It’s always the same with guys, isn’t it?
”Ah, I was just pressing acupressure points.”
”I don’t care about that! I’ve never liked you, you know!”
Maybe the older boy had a crush on one of the girls he was pressing acupressure points on? It could have been Akane-senpai, a popular senior. But he didn’t know how to respond to his dislike.
”Ugh, this is ridiculous. Jealousy among guys is just ugly, senpai.”
”You little!!”
*Wham!*
Haruto was slapped across the face.
Immediately, Haruto retaliated.
*Thud!*
The other three, angered by the retaliation, started coming at Haruto, but
”What are you guys doing!”
The head teacher and homeroom teacher arrived.
Someone from Haruto’s class must have gone to the staff room to report it.
As soon as the head teacher saw Haruto’s face, he immediately gave instructions to the homeroom teacher.
”Take Ichijou to the nurse’s office.”
He followed the homeroom teacher, and they passed a large group of students who had gathered, all staring at me and murmuring.
”Wow…”
”That looks painful.”
”Poor guy.”
Haruto’s face was swollen, and his cheekbone was bruised, turning a deep purple.
From behind Haruto, the voice of the upperclassman who’d hit him could be heard.
”I got hit too!”
”Liar! Where’s the injury?”
”Ugh! My eye hurts like hell!”
”I’m telling you, there’s nothing there!”
The truth was, the man Haruto had hit back had a fractured cheekbone, but Haruto had healed him instantly, leaving only the sensation of pain.
Haruto, known as a “study freak,” actually has incredible physical strength—no surprise, given he’d been doing strength-intensive massages and acupressure since early elementary school.
In the end, the four upperclassmen were made out to be entirely at fault for the fight.
This wasn’t Haruto’s intention; he’d instantly healed them after realizing he’d fractured their bones on impact.
He couldn’t explain that, though, leaving a grudge between him and the upperclassmen.
A few days later, Haruto would be ambushed on his way home from school…
