Volume 4 Chapter 60 Departure

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Ten sailor Brownies, summoned as crew, line up in front of me.

”Alright, let’s get ready to set sail.”

In response to my words, the fairies snap a salute with a sparkly sound, then promptly start their work.

The first Brownie I summoned stands at the helm, stretching up to grasp the wheel. Below the sail, several Brownies pull on ropes, repositioning the sail.

It’s a wonder how such small bodies can produce such strength.

As I watch the work, one fairy approaches me, flapping its tiny hands as if making a request.

”Captain, it seems we need a tool to move the ship.”

 ”A tool?”

 What does she mean?

 ”Um, something round and shiny…”

Lifia translates with a puzzled tone.

Round and shiny? Could it be that thing?

 ”Is this what you mean?”

I pull out a magic tool from my pocket.

It’s the ‘Spirit-Seekers’ Compass,’ a magic tool guarded by the previous owner of this ship, the Skeleton Captain. It’s adorned with intricate decorations, reflecting light and gleaming gold.

This was kept in the captain’s room treasure chest. Is it the key to moving the ship?

The fairy bounces up and down, pointing at my hand, leaving no doubt.

”What am I supposed to do with this?”

I crouch down and offer the compass to the fairy.

The fairy waves its hand over the compass. The needle starts to spin, and I feel my magic being drawn out.

”The ship is filling with magic.”

 Lifia informs me.

The ship trembles slightly, light runs across the deck. Patterns like electronic circuits emerge.

My magic is being channeled into the ship through the compass.

So, the ship needs not only wind, but also magic.

Following the Brownies’ cue, I open the large shutter at the entrance of the motel.

With a quiet mechanical sound, the view opens up. This is the 5th Floor ‘Seafloor of Shadow Waves’ of the dungeon.

The space resembles the ocean floor. There are reefs and clusters of coral, and fish of various colors swim through the air as if there were no water.

Next to me, a Brownie turns around, looking up at me for the next instruction, its eyes twinkling with anticipation.

 ”Alright, we’re setting sail!”

The fairies respond with sharp salutes to my voice.

And the ship gently lifts off. Without creaking, quietly away from the platform.

 ”Mooluum, power to the sails.”

 Lifia quietly strings a spell.

A faint breeze swirls around the hull, the sails fill with wind and swell.

In the next instant, the ship slides forward, moving smoothly.

Our ship slowly departs from the motel.

 ”Oh…!”

 A reflexive sound escapes me.

The big ship moves exactly as I commanded. It feels like the adventure I dreamed of is really happening, and my chest warms.

 ”Wow, that’s amazing.”

 ”We did it, Master!”

I mutter, and Lifia’s eyes sparkle as she responds.

 ”Yeah!”

I can’t help but smile, my voice full of excitement.

Tifi and Yomi watch us, smiling fondly.

It’s a little embarrassing, but just for now, we can be excited.

 ”This is so cool!”

Meanwhile, Kéa is having fun with me.

 ”Alright, we break surface first.”

I focus and give the navigator brownie the order.

The fairy quickly salutes with tiny hands, and the ship gently shifts angle.

It threads between reefs and coral, heading toward the sunlight coming from above, quietly rising.

”Hey, is it okay to surface onto the water like this?”

Yomi looks up with a worried expression.

The “Seafloor of Shadow Waves” on dungeon level 5 looks like the underwater, yet strangely, breathing isn’t an issue. So, what’s beyond that flickering water surface? Is it really safe to surface?

 Her worry makes sense.

 ”Certainly… what will happen then?”

 ”Let’s check it out, then.”

Rozmiaque steps forward, stretching out her arm. In her open palm, a tiny seed-like object. A plant seed?

 ”Ssloualbo, leaf butterfly.”

The spell causes the seed to glow faintly, sprouting small leaves and budding.

When the leaves reach a certain size, they flutter like butterfly wings and drift gently into the air.

The green butterfly slowly flies toward the water surface above.

Soon, the butterfly touches the water and passes through as if nothing happened.

”Hm, the air and environment don’t seem harmful to humans.”

 Rozmiaque reports calmly.

”So, we go back to a normal place.”

”Good… I was worried I wouldn’t be able to breathe.”

When I muttered that, Yomi looked relieved and patted her chest.

It’s natural to stay cautious in unknown surroundings.

And now, with no more worries, we focus again on the other side of the water.
