Rising-Monk v3c120-4

Volume 3 Chapter 120-4 Sarah’s Training!

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

When Kian mumbled as if delirious, Sarah gave him a look that said, “What is this guy saying?”

”Listen, Kian. I was once known as ‘Azrael’s Death Sword User.’ I’m not boasting, but even the Twelve Divine Generals acknowledged me as Azrael’s most skilled warrior monk.”

 ”But──”

Yet, you couldn’t defeat Oswald, could you?

 I managed to win, but──

He somehow suppressed that childish pride.

’Kian, no one in this world can defeat Oswald as a human. That man possesses immense power capable of even destroying spirits. Even if you gather all your weapons and reach the final stage of becoming a vampire──’

 (‘Glasses’, no need for comfort)

 ”Kian?”

”Did you really challenge Oswald in perfect condition? Didn’t you forget to eat or get a stomachache?”

”How rude. My condition was perfectly prepared.”

”I see. So you’re actually losing to Oswald…”

It started with Natra and Rufna present.

The two even provided enhancement buffs with Kirin and Turtle arts.

He had the best magic sword, Windsong Blade, and a top-tier heat resistance ring entrusted to him by Maribel.

Even with all that preparation, he ended up just a step away from being decapitated.

If the person inside the ‘glasses’ hadn’t appeared, Kian would have been dead.

In the end, he borrowed a powerful weapon from ‘glasses’ and struck back the Sun’s magic sword to defeat him.

(Wait, am I really that useless?)

 ”Kian.”

Suddenly, the sweet scent of Sarah’s sweat filled the air, and she gently embraced him. Her soft chest pressed against his face, and all anger, anxiety, and frustration melted away.

Perhaps, the obsession with the sword cannot overcome the allure of a woman’s body.

It’s sad, but her breasts are so soft and comfortable…

”You’ve gotten so strong. I’m impressed.”

 ”No need for comfort.”

”It seems like you’re feeling down because you lost to me, but honestly, there was no one in Azrael who could defeat me in a one-on-one fight.”

 ”What about Jibril?”

”I wouldn’t know because I’ve never fought him. I fought him a few times when I was little, but that’s nothing like my current strength.”

 ”I see. That’s right.”

”I naturally concentrate very quickly. I doubt there’s anyone who can surpass my skill activation speed. I might even be faster than Oswald.”

 ”Why are you so fast?”

”Talent, I suppose. Like running speed, bone strength, or magic power, it’s something you’re born with.”

 ”So it’s talent after all.”

”I won’t deny that talent is necessary. But training can make up for it to some extent. ────Kian, I was really fighting you just now.”

Looking up at Sarah from her bosom as if to ask what that meant, she continued.

”Almost no one can train their skills enough to match me in a serious fight. Strength, explosive power, magic power, concentration speed—even if I do say so myself, it’s hard to keep up with a monster-like opponent. Plus, you always have to be thinking. You’re capable of both.”

”I don’t feel it that much.”

 Getting up from her bosom.

At 30 years old, it’s too embarrassing to be comforted by a younger childhood friend after losing in training.

He reflected that he should remain resolute even in defeat.

”Ordinary people set their own limits and then stop practicing. They think it’s too painful, too tiring, and they stop. Of course, there are people who do it. But among them, very few can train while thinking.”

Sarah gently stroked Kian’s calloused hands with affection.

”If you’re told to swing a sword ten times as homework, most people will swing without thinking. But you can feel if today’s swings are slower than yesterday’s, or if your footwork is off. And on top of that, you can think about why you’re not in good shape.”

 ”That’s obvious.”

”It’s like confirming the form. There’s a basic form, and then there’s a form for piercing through the back of that form to defeat the enemy, and then there’s another layer beyond that… thinking about swordplay is like playing tag. Most people just dig into the basic forms and the methods of reversing them a bit and then stop. But you, with your rich imagination and love for training, are always thinking about it.”

If they attack like this, you cut through like this.

If they escape like this, you chase like this.

You can continue indefinitely with these combat simulations as entertainment──.

”That’s why I can respond to your inhuman movements and unprecedented attacks. Because I always think about it, I can recall similar patterns at a moment’s notice and cut through, or find a way out with a moment’s thought, and make choices that are less likely to lose. Even though I won ten times this time, I think it was a close call. ────Was that last one ‘Secret Technique: Pursuit of the Shadow’?”

 ”Yeah.”

”Based on the feel of the fight, this is my assessment of you as a warrior monk.”

 Arm strength: 10.

 Leap (instant) power: 10.

Speed of refining one’s spirit: 1.

Force of releasing one’s spirit: 1.

Technique accuracy: 5 (basic techniques are refined, but applied techniques are all clumsy).

Understanding of warrior monk techniques: 4.

 Judgment and combat analysis: 10.

 Overall rating: 6.

 ”A ten-tiered assessment, huh.”

Sarah wrote clumsy words on the wall of the ancient temple with magic while adding that.

”I’m not sure if it’s good or bad.”

”Not very good. But your vampire-like physical abilities and rich combat experience, as well as your combat analysis abilities, seem to be boosting your abilities. If I were to point out something in terms of pure ability, the speed of refining your spirit and the force of releasing your spirit are so bad they don’t meet the standards of a monastery graduate. The former affects the speed of technique activation, and the latter is directly linked to the power of the technique.”

Sarah put her hands on her hips.

”Your physical Leap (instant) power is excellent, but your speed of refining your spirit isn’t keeping up with it. If you’re someone who can sense magic power, it’s possible they could sense something coming when you start refining your spirit and take evasive action.”

”And also because the power of the technique is low, it means that techniques in the Shot system like ‘blast’ do not cause fatal injuries.””

”That’s right. Because the momentum is insufficient, people tend to try to forcibly gather a lot of ki, and as a result, the activation is even further delayed. Consequently, the attack can be avoided.”

 ”I see.”

”Probably, the reason is that you haven’t handled large amounts of ki until now. To improve your ability as a warrior monk, you should practice increasing the speed at which you gather ki and the momentum of its release.”

 ”Oh!”

”I’ve prepared some training menus for you. When you have free time, keep doing them. ──And then,”

Sarah turned to face Kian with a bright smile.

”Show me ‘Pursuit of the Shadow’ one more time♡”
