Chapter 63 Neighbor

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 Finally, university life starts.

Living alone starts too, but Haruto’s apartment is brand new.

 It’s a 2DK layout—way too fancy for a student.

There’s almost no empty places near the university, only pricey new apartments.

Sure, cheaper ones exist, but Haruto’s scared of ghosts, and Harue knows that, so she avoided old places for him.

 Akane’s apartment is even pricier.

It’s auto-lock—visitors must call the resident at the entrance, and only the resident can unlock the door. Super secure.

(Living alone as a woman is risky, after all.)

Right now, Haruto’s just stepped out to meet the neighbors.

Greeting neighbors when moving in isn’t common anymore, but he wants to at least check out who’s next door.

His room’s on the first floor, corner spot, so he plans to greet those above and beside him.

 First, the room right above.

Footsteps from up there are loud, so it’s good to know who lives there.

 Ding-dong♪

 ‥‥

No one’s home, so he heads next door.

 Ding-dong♪

 ‥‥’Yes?’

”Hi, I just moved in next door, so I came to say hello.”

 ’Ah, hold on a sec.’

 Clink

”I’m Ichijou, just moved in next door. Nice to meet you.”

 ”Thanks for coming. I’m Tsuyuki.”

”Here’s a towel set, feel free to use it.”

 ”Sorry, thanks a lot.”

The neighbor next door was a woman in her late 20s or early 30s.

Glancing at the entrance, there were men’s shoes too, so she might live with a partner or husband.

(Looking forward to those naughty sounds from next door~!)

From outside, the apartment has a door, two toilet windows, and another door.

So, the next-door layout is just a mirror of Haruto’s room.

(Normally, the back room’s the bedroom, so the other side of the wall should be the bedroom!)

With those thoughts bubbling, the greeting ended.

* * *

 That night

The light upstairs was on, so he visited again.

 Ping-pong♪

 ’Yes…’

”I moved into the room below and came to greet you. Missed you earlier, so I came now.”

The intercom voice was a woman’s, so he explained why he came at night.

 Clack.

”I’m Ichijou, moved in below. Here’s a towel set, use it if you like.”

 ”Oh, thanks a lot.”

 ”Alright, I’ll head out.”

 She was super plain.

Black suit, glasses, long black hair with bangs covering her eyes—so scary Haruto rushed back.

(Standing on the road at night, she’d look like a ghost to anyone.)

Haruto doesn’t like ghosts, but it’s not like he can’t sleep alone.

Still, with the loneliness of living alone, that night he stayed on the phone with Akane until late.
