After school ended, I went straight to the office and told the president honestly that I wanted to go back to acting.

Seeing the president look so tired and sad, I felt bad too.
In the entertainment world, the agency’s power is everything.

After a while, an employee rushed into the president’s office.
”Excuse me! P-President… they’re here.”
”Got it. Please show them in.”
They seemed really nervous, but who could it be?

”Nice to meet you. Thank you for your time today. I’m Atori Ako from Beryl Entertainment.”
”Ah, President Atori!?”

”Oh, sorry. I contacted Beryl Enterprise, but I didn’t expect the head of the Beryl Group, the parent company, to come.”
Beryl Enterprise?
Huh, there’s an agency with that name… I’m hearing it for the first time.
After quick greetings with President Atori, my president and I sat on the sofa.
”I already know about today’s meeting from one of our subsidiary’s employees. It’s about finding a new agency for actress Oto Rurika-san, right?”
”Y-Yes. I thought changing agencies would be the fastest way for Oto-san to return to acting, so I reached out to Beryl Enterprise, which is under Beryl’s protection. Also, when magazines were crazy about the masked idol, Shiro Ichigo Koneko-san, big newspapers like Seibaku and Fuji Group used legal contracts to stop other media. I thought if Oto-san were here, she’d be safe…”
President… you really were thinking about me.
When changing agencies, it’s usually done as a free agent or after paying a fee to end the contract.
Since I’m an actress on pause, there wouldn’t be a big fee, so this doesn’t really help the president or the agency.
Still, knowing you were working for my future, I felt only gratitude.
”I see. I’d like to suggest some options from our company, which is why I came directly to move things faster.”
President Atori looked closely at me and my president.
Her words were clear, and she seemed like someone who gets things done.
She took a paper from her bag and showed it to us.
”First, we could pay the proper fee and officially welcome Oto Rurika-san into the Beryl Group. Normally, it would take about a month to return, but let’s do it in two weeks. After signing, Oto-san would join a filming set right away, and we’d start a positive media campaign. The goal is for her to return as the lead actress in a drama at the end of the year.”
My heart raced as a clear plan for my return was presented.
Amazing. There are lines marked in black, and it seems the drama I’ll be in is already decided.
”The second option is to move to another agency that isn’t ours. Representatives from Beyond Production and States’ STAR LIGHTS PARTNER will come here later, so you can get more details from them.”
By the way, Beyond Production is a famous agency where Kohina Yukari-san works.
And STAR LIGHTS PARTNER is a global agency where Mikuni-sama and Kuga Reira-san are signed.
It’s already surprising to get an offer from Beyond Production, but to be offered a spot at an agency that works with actresses in worldwide projects like STAR LIGHTS PARTNER… It’s honestly hard to believe.
When I looked unsure, President Atori explained more.
”Arisugawa Abigail, a director at our company, used to work at STAR LIGHTS PARTNER. From what she’s learned, STAR LIGHTS PARTNER is fully entering Japan and plans to open an official office here. We heard that Oto-san is one of the candidates to be the first Japanese person to sign with their Japanese branch.”
If I think about it normally, it’s a very honorable offer.
But signing with the Japanese branch means it’s a different kind of contract compared to global ones like Mikuni-sama or Kuga Reira-san’s.
I don’t think someone like me, still new to this, can stand next to them, but as an actress, it still feels frustrating.
The president, who had been quietly listening beside me, spoke up.
”Is that information reliable?”
”Yes. STAR LIGHTS PARTNER has actually contacted 3 members of our company: Shirogane Aqua, Mayuzumi Shintaro, and Tenga Akira.”
The president and I looked at each other, both surprised.
Of course, it’s shocking that they’d try to take Aqua-sama from Beryl, along with Mayuzumi Shintaro-san and Tenga Akira-san.
”For Shirogane Aqua, who’s with our company, I think the idea came from Yukishiro Mikuni-san, who’s signed with STAR LIGHTS PARTNER. I get it. They’re parent and child, and if Yukishiro Mikuni-san, our top earner, asked to be in the same agency as their child, STAR LIGHTS PARTNER probably had no choice but to act. It’s a good deal for them too. But the offer came from their headquarters in the States, and their president contacted me directly, so I believe they’re being sincere.”
Ako-san smiled faintly.
They said they were treated sincerely, but that smile looks like someone who’s dealt with shady stuff behind the scenes.
I wonder what the other side did… Did they end up bothering the person directly?
The president, sitting beside me, hesitantly spoke.
”By the way, just to learn, could you tell me how you responded, President Atori?”
”In that case, how about Yukishiro Mikuni-san joins our company? That way, the parent and child can be in the same agency. Oh, and if you’d like, we can take care of Kuga Reira too.”
Scary… Doesn’t that basically mean if they take Shirogane Aqua, they’d take both Yukishiro Mikuni and Kuga Reira too?
”But the problem isn’t just there. STAR LIGHTS PARTNER’s Japanese branch also approached Mayuzumi Shintaro and Tenga Akira, who are with our company. And Tenga Akira told me they even hinted at a future global contract. I also heard that Beyond Production directly negotiated with actress Kohina Yukari, offering her roles in foreign movies and dramas. I found out Oto-san was on STAR LIGHTS PARTNER’s list when I looked into this.”
I see. From President Atori’s honest words, I started to understand the background.
STAR LIGHTS PARTNER wants standout people to expand into Japan. The first ones they noticed were Kohina Yukari-san, who’s aiming for overseas work, and Tenga Akira-san, who’s becoming a full-fledged action actor.
And for Aqua-sama, these two are important seniors. If they moved, it would be big news in Japan and get a lot of attention.
Probably, Mayuzumi Shintaro-san is a backup if Tenga Akira-san says no, and I’m just one of many options on Kohina Yukari-san’s list.
”Also, the reason I’m here today is this. To show we’re more serious than Beyond Production and STAR LIGHTS PARTNER, I, the president with final say in the Beryl group, came here personally.”
President Atori stood tall and looked straight at me.
I somehow understood why Aqua-sama chose President Atori as a partner.
If it were just a clever president, they’d hide that it’s Beyond Production or STAR LIGHTS PARTNER and try to force a contract with us, money and papers in hand.
With no other choice, we’d agree, especially since it’s Beryl. Few in Japan would refuse such an offer.
But this person told us everything without hiding anything and asked us to choose Beryl Entertainment.
There’s this slogan written by Aqua-sama, “Level up and solve with physics, go straight and beat them up, stealth operation written but frontal breakthrough,” hung in the Break Room and talked about online.
The president and I were so amazed by that clear approach that we were speechless.
”And here’s the third proposal, this one’s not just about Oto-san but involves both our companies.”
Seeing President Atori’s serious look, the president and I were surprised.
”To be clear, we’re talking about buying the agency Oto-san is with and adding it to the Beryl Group.”
Eh!? I was so shocked by such a big deal that I looked startled.
