He stabbed his stomach three times with a magic sword.
There was no space between his organs and blood vessels to move the sword around.
Thin red blood poured from his stomach, spreading on the flat roof of the old temple where snow-covered remains were everywhere.
The nerves in his legs from the knees down were cut, and his right shoulder was broken.
His body couldn’t stop shaking.
Kian smiled at Linca, who stood still, looking shocked.
”Eh…?”
”────”
He tore the flesh of his neck with the Windsong Blade.
The magic sword scattered his master’s blood into the dark night, making a sound like crying.
”Kii──”
Linca’s body disappeared.
”Sir Kian!”
As he was about to fall backward, Linca gently caught him.
She quickly used healing magic, not caring about getting covered in Kian’s blood.
His flesh healed fast, but Kian slowed his own healing on purpose. He also secretly absorbed the energy (ki) Linca sent to him.
He made his heartbeat weaker, slowing it down as much as possible.
To anyone watching, he looked almost dead.
Normally, a person would die after stabbing their stomach three times with a magic sword.
”No… healing… isn’t working…”
”Let me die.”
”It’s not happening!”
Linca shouted desperately.
”It’s okay. I’ll figure something out! Please, stay calm!”
”It’s fine now.”
Kian relaxed his eyes behind his glasses.
”It’s fine now… It was fun. I’m glad I was born…”
”────!”
Linca’s face twisted with emotion.
Kian shed a tear from his eye.
”It was fun…”
”That’s impossible! How can you say it was fun!?”
Linca was angry.
She looked sad while being angry.
”Your life, being rejected by your family, forced to leave your home, and living in poverty and discrimination, can’t have been fun! You must live! Sir Jibril will surely give you a place to belong! Surely…”
Kian shook his head.
”You’re just an experiment, aren’t you?”
”……!”
”At least at the end, I want to choose for myself. I don’t want to be pushed around by fate anymore.”
”No, I won’t let you die…”
Linca’s eyes widened.
She sent all her energy (ki) into him.
But it only fed Kian, who had gained vampire powers.
His healing was slowed, so no regeneration happened.
Blood kept flowing out quickly.
Linca tore her kimono.
She pulled the fabric and cut it with a scimitar.
She did this again and pressed it against Kian’s neck and stomach wounds.
Her face twisted, and tears of despair filled her eyes.
”Azrael, please save this poor life. God of death and rebirth, no one needs your help more than him. Please, please…”
”Don’t cry, Linca. It’s not your fault.”
”Don’t speak!”
”Please, about Jibril. He’s a good person.”
”Sir Kian…”
”Father, thank you… Father, thank you for raising me.”
”What… are you saying!”
Kian smiled.
”Linca, thank you too.
──You’re kind, Linca.”
No words.
Linca’s expression was completely frozen.
Kian’s hand pressing his wound trembled uncontrollably.
”Thank you. But, I don’t want to die.”
”……, ……”
”I really wanted to live.”
”Sir Kian… I, I’m…”
Linca looked down at her hands.
Unlike the inexperienced girl who just followed Jibril, Linca has mastered Azrael’s secret arts many times. She’s become much stronger. While she takes lives of those who oppose Azrael, she also uses divine power to heal her own people.
But under her hands, a unlucky man is just trying to die unfairly──.
”Please, live instead of me.”
”────”
”As an apostle of Azrael’s justice.”
”……”
”You…, you were the person I wanted to become…”
”────, ……”
From far away, Rean’s scream echoed.
It seems the black armor didn’t stop the Shamshir’s blade, and Jibril pushed him off the roof onto the mountainside. It was a fall from a steep slope, like into a valley.
Jibril checked Rean’s final moments carefully before slowly walking toward them.
”Sir Jibril!”
Linca called out impatiently as she saw her master walking slowly.
”Sir Jibril, your brother is in critical condition! He cut his stomach and throat himself.”
”Ah, Linca. Well done. A great achievement. You’ve shown your loyalty to Azrael.”
”Sir Jibril!”
Linca, still holding Kian in her lap, looked up at the long-haired puppet.
”Use the Restoration Curse. Please use the secret art! You said you’d prepare it just in case, right!?”
”After dealing with my brother, there’s one more task. I’ll save it for that. My brother will be fine, so quickly end his consciousness.”
”Huh────?”
Linca couldn’t believe Jibril’s words.
After looking down at the blood-covered Kian, she looked up at Jibril again.
”What… are you saying?”
”Did you not hear? After ending my brother’s consciousness, restrain him.”
