Volume 4 Chapter 66-2 The Heat Of Hell And The Light Of Blessing

Her unusual reaction made sense. If she really couldn’t cut, then she wouldn’t have done that.
”U-ugh, Milord…”
She made a sad sound, looking down with a disappointed expression.
In her hands were her tools, twin blades made by Master Beckus.
I checked what she gave me. When I looked, I saw cracks in the blades. Both of them were damaged.
”Is it that bad… ugh.”
I also checked my sword, and it was chipped.
No matter who I fought before, it had never been damaged like this. Not until now, at least.
The dragon scales on the 6th Floor must be very tough to cause this much damage.
Kéa’s sword was made using materials from the dungeon’s 2nd and 3rd Floors.
My sword was probably made from 3rd Floor materials.
That was likely its limit.
”I want it repaired, please.”
Kéa grabbed my shirt and pulled me toward the laundry box.
The ‘Love Hotel’ offers laundry service and perfect weapon repairs. They can make it look like new.
”No, I think I’ll just keep it as it is without fixing it.”
”Huh?”
But no matter how many times I repair it, the sword won’t get stronger.
If we go to the 6th Floor again, repairing it won’t help much.
Instead, it’s better to take the broken sword to the blacksmith and ask for advice while it’s still damaged.

We walked through Dungeon City in disguise.
Lifia and Kéa were with us, wearing plain town clothes instead of their usual flashy outfits.
The streets and buildings looked familiar, but something felt different.
The mood of the town was not like usual.
Many people were passing by, but their faces looked worried.
Was it because of the war? But there was no feeling of sadness. Instead, it felt like a festival might start soon.
The air was restless, with a mix of excitement and anticipation.
Children were running around, making noise.
On the other side of the street, a makeshift festival tower had been set up. It looked like festival preparations were underway.
Was it festival season?
But it doesn’t matter to us.
If we handle this smoothly, we won’t come back to this town.
We hurried forward, toward the craftsman area and into the alley.
We walked through the twisting streets to our destination.
As usual, we were heading to Old Beckus’s place. He’s stubborn and rough, but a top-class blacksmith. That’s his workshop.
We opened the door with a soft squeak and went inside.
”Oh Taro, glad you came!”
”Is it work? Did you bring the booze?”
Two old dwarf men greeted us.
As soon as we entered the dim workshop, Old Beckus appeared with a big smile.
Next, his younger brother Nokiroul, the magic tool maker, came from the back. Did he smell the alcohol and come over?
Whenever I ask for work, I pay with booze from the ‘Love Hotel’ brand.
”What’s the matter today? Did you bring another tough job?”
”Well, something like that.”
I handed over the sword and its scabbard.
”Look at this.”
”I want you to see…”
Kéa also spoke and offered her sword.
”Hmm?”
The dwarf blacksmith pulled out one sword and two knives from the scabbard, studying them closely.
”This is bad. You fought a tough enemy. Were you dealing with a dragon group or something?”
”Ah, you’ve understood well.”
To be exact, it was several wyverns and one red dragon.
”…”
”…?”
Beckus and Nokiroul went quiet after my answer.
”For a sword to be so damaged, only a mid-level dragon like a rock dragon, or a higher-level species, could do this.”
”The fact that your sword is in such bad shape means the enemy was very strong.”
A rock dragon is said to be like an armadillo covered in hard scales. It can’t fly.
The one we faced could fly.
In other words, it’s called an High-Class dragon. That’s a deep dungeon floor scenario.
”…A deep dungeon floor is a scary place.”
Beckus muttered quietly.
Hmm? Wait a minute. I don’t think I ever said “I fought in the dungeon.”
Besides, dragons don’t appear in this town’s dungeon, as far as I know.
As if seeing my doubt, Beckus continued speaking.
”Did you not know? Recently, a pillar of light rose from the dungeon entrance.”
I don’t know. What’s that about?
As I tilted my head in confusion, Beckus slowly began to explain.
”It’s said the same thing happened a hundred years ago. At that time, a light fell on the dungeon entrance, and the whole town was in an uproar.”
A hundred years ago, the dungeon. The only thing that comes to mind is…
”Could it be a sign that a floor’s Guardian was defeated?”
”That’s what they say.”
Nokiroul nodded repeatedly.
I had heard that the hero who defeated the 4th Floor’s Guardian, ‘Magic-Draining Snow Mountain,’ was from a hundred years ago. Was the same thing happening now?
So that’s why the town was so excited.
We couldn’t confirm it inside the dungeon, so we didn’t know what was going on.
”In town, they’re saying the hero opened a new floor, and everyone’s excited. It’s like a party is about to start.”
Nokiroul said with a wry smile.
I see, so that’s why there was that festival-like atmosphere.
The new floor was unlocked because we defeated the 5th Floor’s Guardian, ‘Seafloor of Shadow Waves.’
The people recognized the hero’s achievement from the phenomenon and were celebrating.
Beckus and the others had guessed we did it.
And from our talk just now, they were sure.
They probably already suspected I was a hero or someone powerful.
Well, it’s not a problem if they figured it out. I came here today so they’d know.
My purpose is to get this sword repaired, and one other thing.
”Lifia”
”Yes. If it’s these people, I think there will be no problem.”
Lifia answered.
Her Spirit Magic can read people’s emotions and personalities.
Because of that, she guarantees they won’t oppose us. They are friendly.
”Beckus, Nokiroul. I have something to tell you.”
After hearing her answer, I started to speak.
Beckus is the best blacksmith in Dungeon City. Nokiroul is also a skilled magic tool forger.
If it’s them, they’ll become our allies.
To go deeper into the dungeon from here, and to survive in this world,
we need new allies.
The time has come to welcome them to the Love Hotel base.
