Volume 3 Chapter 127-3 Falling Out Among Friends

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

”There’s a chance we can win. Ms. Sarah, you will hold back Linca, and Kian and I will take care of the others. Even if Linca comes my way, I’ll handle her. Meanwhile, Ms. Sarah and Kian will deal with the weaker enemies. By then, I’ll have defeated Linca, and it will be a grand finale.”

 ”Are you stupid?”

”I want to ask you the same thing, but why doesn’t Ms. Sarah go help her allies?”

”It’s because if I go to help and gets defeated, it would be pointless.”

”There’s always a chance of victory. Every plan has a risk of failure. If we keep worrying about that, we won’t be able to do anything, right?”

 Rean continued.

”Ms. Serena is your comrade, isn’t she? Why are you so quick to abandon her? If we retreat now, Azrael will take her, and she’ll suffer. Is that okay with you?”

 ”It’s not good, but—”

”You don’t seem to truly believe it’s not good.”

Rean observed Sarah’s face closely and said that.

”It’s a face that looks like you don’t care at all.”

 ”What do you know?”

”I know. Because I think Ms. Serena doesn’t matter to you at all.”

 Rean said plainly.

 He continued.

”Even when I punched and knocked Ms. Serena away, you looked like you didn’t want to cause trouble and were healing her.”

”I don’t think so. If you keep saying things like that, I’ll get angry.”

”Before you get angry, think about how to help Ms. Serena. We need to work together. We have to help Ninini and Vest.”

”Are you really planning to seriously help Ms. Ninini and Ms. Vestacia?”

 ”What?”

Sarah gave Rean a cold look, her gaze fixed on his armor—the Black Onyx Horn Cup swaying in front of him.

”It seems the contents inside the Horn Cup are decreasing a lot. Who do you plan to sacrifice next?”

 ”────”

”Do you think I don’t know about sacrificing Ms. Lyritisse? I received a message from the members waiting at the ancient temple of Erynys. Ms. Lyritisse suddenly collapsed and hasn’t woken up since.”

 ”……”

 Rean’s blue eyes narrowed sharply.

Suddenly, a tense atmosphere began to drift from him.

Seeing the danger, Kian stepped between the two.

”Sarah, stop it. That’s a ‘Lion’s Companion’ issue.”

”…Even if Lyr doesn’t wake up, it’s not my fault.”

”You say that, but apparently, when you handed rings with braided hair of Ms. Lyritisse and Ms. Vestacia to merchants in the back alley, Kian saw everything clearly.”

”That’s not true. Kian is mistaken.”

”Lies. You, to maintain that splendid armor, are sacrificing many souls, right? The reason you’re hunting monsters like you’re possessed is for that? If you take damage or use a magic sword, the contents of the Horn Cup decrease. The lost part must be replenished with souls. When you can no longer replenish it and the maintenance costs can’t be covered, the souls invested in it flow away.”

 Sarah glared fiercely at Rean.

”You’ve been talking about my comrades all along, but—”

 ”Sarah, stop. Enough is enough.”

”You too, gain power by sacrificing your comrades’ souls, don’t you? The title of ‘East End Hero’ obtained by sacrificing the souls of Ms. Lyritisse and Ms. Vestacia—surely—”

A dull sound, like a bump, was heard.

Rean shoved Kian aside and struck Sarah’s cheek.

It was not with an open hand but with a fist wrapped in armor.

If Sarah’s clairvoyance had been better, she could have avoided it, but it seemed she deliberately took the punch. Before Sarah could turn around, Rean hit her on the opposite cheek.

Sarah tilted her head slightly and then turned her gaze back at Rean with a disapproving look.

 ”────”

Rean’s face was twisted with a murderous intent that went beyond anger.

He then threw a punch aimed at Sarah’s nose.

However, it was easily caught and stopped by Sarah’s palm.

In the instant Rean’s eyes widened in shock, he was pushed back with a large dent in his nose and flew backward.

 ”──Hey, Sarah!”

”You’re pretty good. I heard quite a bit, you damn trash.”

 ”W-what are you saying…?”

Whether it’s because his brain is shaking, Rean sways and stands up.

Sarah quickly approaches and punches his face once more.

”It seems that it wasn’t conveyed in Azrael language, sorry, you damn trash. I told you to drop dead, you trash.”

 ”Kuh…”

Rean also had blue veins bulging on his temple.

He hit Sarah again, but Sarah only tilted her neck slightly from the impact.

He stepped in sharply, shaking Rean’s jaw, then executed a lethal uppercut with his left hand.

Rean almost rolled his eyes, but his armor clanked loudly and moved his arm freely.

His hand gripped a magic sword, which he swung ruthlessly toward Sarah’s neck.

But such an attack couldn’t reach Sarah—she easily stopped it with her hand.

Rean was tripped and fell forcefully.

”It’s obvious who’s the human and who’s not.”

Sarah spat blood-mixed saliva on the stone floor and looked down at Rean, saying that.

She ground her black gauntlet, gripping a sword, into the ground.

”Going to rescue Ms. Ninini and Ms. Vestacia is because if the souls you risked so much to extract become useless, you’ll have to find other replacements, right? You don’t care at all about Ms. Ninini and Ms. Vestacia as individuals.”

 ”That’s not true.”

”If that’s not the case, why doesn’t Ms. Lyritisse wake up while still sleeping? You couldn’t pay your debt, and you sacrificed Ms. Lyritisse, right? Well, if she’s okay with it, maybe it’s fine. If you hand over Ms. Lyritisse’s soul, you’d get a little more grace period and even feel relieved, right?”

 ”────, ────…”

 ”Stop, Sarah!”

Though it was a late realization, Kian finally pushed back Sarah’s body, making a move.

Rean’s arm moved on its own, but Kian intercepted it with his foot, stopping it.

”Sarah, Rean, you’ve gone too far.”

”Gone too far? He’s the one who’s overdoing it.”

”…I am not a fool. You, who are willing to abandon your comrades without hesitation, are the fool.”

”As expected, those who dedicate themselves to Ms. Lyritisse speak differently.”

”Stop! What will happen if you start fighting among your comrades here!”

Kian turned toward Sarah and spoke.

”Sarah. There are parts of a person that they do not want others to touch. Even if you’re angry at Rean, using verbal abuse is not good.”
