Volume 3 Chapter 129-3 Quest: Nameless Ashura II

He was in a state where his lower body had turned to crystal and was connected to the large Black Onyx tree.

Did he cut himself free and pull away by force?

 Shura waved his hand.

The two warrior monks carried Glen and disappeared into the back of the roof.

They likely planned to take Glen to the mountain slope, where they were waiting for the dragonfly.

 ”Not happening!”

Kian expanded the ‘domain’ technique of ‘Leap.’

He kicked the ground in the courtyard and landed on the roof a second later.

However, just as he tried to bypass Shura and the others, the ‘domains’ expanded by Shura and Kian clashed, interfering with each other and canceling out.

 ”Tch.”

The sky, awaiting the morning sun, was dyed purple.

Kian, holding the Windsong Blade, poured his energy into unleashing a strike with the magic sword.

His targets were the 8 warrior monks ahead.

Shura, who had moved forward, was too far to escape or engage in close combat.

(I need to be careful not to hit Serena and the others with the magic sword.)

 ”Cry, Windsong Blade…!”

The silver blade swirled with a strong wind.

A roaring sound, like the sea swirling, echoed.

Kian’s black hair was fiercely blown by the early morning wind.

Kian quickly stepped toward Shura and swung the magic sword horizontally.

A bright white flash raced across the night sky, and the ground split in two.

The pure magical energy attacked the 8 warrior monks.

 It was supposed to attack.

But Shura stood there, smiling like he was mocking the heavens.

Then—he spread his arms wide, his chest bare to the light and absorbed it into his black monk robes.

Even exposed to the Windsong Blade’s strike, Shura didn’t flinch.

Moreover, this meant—he was absorbing the magic power.

 ”You…!”

Kian stopped the magic sword’s attack and once again took the Windsong Blade in a straight gaze.

The scenery ahead had changed drastically: mountainsides were stripped bare, revealing brown bedrock, and the roofs of ancient temples were broken and crumbling.

However, Shura and the 7 other warrior monks showed no signs of damage.

Not even a single scratch on their black monk robes.

 (This is)

The same as what happened with the thorn monster in the swamp before.

 Magic absorption—

 ”What are you?”

Kian felt a boiling defeat after his magic sword was blocked. Before he knew it, he bared his teeth and shouted.

 ”State your names!”

”We have no need for names.”

Shura slung his shamshir over his shoulder and laughed.

The other warrior monks quickly deployed around Shura, drawing their shamshirs as well.

”We abandoned our homes, we abandoned our names.”

”Reborn under the guidance of Sir Jibril.”

”We are Asuras who seek only strength.”

 ”What?”

Kian narrowed his eyes, unable to understand what they were saying.

In the distance, he saw Barghest climbing the mountain path, but these 8 were clearly different from their previous opponents, so he couldn’t act recklessly.

If he made a mistake, he might be the one taken down.

”Kian Vahid. Don’t you think this world is unjust?”

Shura turned his gleaming eyes toward him.

His words ended in a question, but his tone was as if he was certain Kian would naturally agree.

”What are you suddenly talking about?”

”A warrior monk’s abilities are mostly determined at birth. Blood is tested, and the amount of tachyonian cells contained determines whether one will become an exceptional warrior monk or end up mediocre.”

 ”If only it were mediocrity.”

The warrior monk beside Shura raised his voice.

He had white skin and dog ears, perhaps due to Western Beastmen blood.

”If the amount of tachyonian cells is almost nonexistent, the future as a warrior monk is considered hopeless. Just like you, Kian Vahid.”

”If it’s you, then you should not say that if you lack talent, you should descend into the wilderness and become a fool waiting for salvation.”

Shura showed a ferocious smile like a carnivorous beast.

”Born into this world, the cries of those destined to be voiceless, despair, and anger should be understood.”

”In other words, you all were just dropouts like me?”

 Kian asked.

Shura and the others only stared silently back at Kian without denying anything.

Wind mixed with snow swept through the roof.

The wind violently turned the black monk robes of Kian and Shura’s families white.

Shura was staring at Kian without blinking, even in the snowstorm.

The other 7 members were the same.

Kian watched them from afar, thinking that Shura and the others might be a pack of lone wolves who had lost their way and stood frozen in the blizzard.

They said they had abandoned their homes and names, but perhaps it was the opposite.

 Their parents abandoned them.

Their homes and names were taken from them.

And they became Shura, seeking only strength.

The same was true for Kian.

Kian’s tachyonian cells were inherently fewer, which became a root cause for him being expelled from Umar, losing his family name Vahid, and after exile, despairing of life. His personality twisted, and he became an abnormal who only pursued swordsmanship and strength.

Nevertheless, in Kian’s case, even after becoming a Shura, he could only attain strength below average, so he probably cannot say he became a true Shura.

 ”We are your former selves.”

 ”You were our spokesman.”

”Even if you lack talent or are physically weak, you, who graduated from the monastery, gave us hope.”

”Even if you are a dropout born into the Twelve Divine Generals family, you were the first to show that it is possible to survive in this world.”

 ”That’s why we respect you!”

”You were our ideal and hope!”

 ”But why then?”

Shura clenched his white teeth and growled.

His teeth were long and pointed like those of a vampire.

White breath flowed heavily from the gaps in his teeth.

”Why did you run away to the Western World?”

 ”I didn’t run away. I was exiled.”

Kian answered while also exhaling a white breath.

”Umar told me to leave Azrael. He intended to let Jibril take over, so my existence was a hindrance.”

”Why didn’t you resist? Why didn’t you oppose the organization? Why didn’t you challenge Azrael’s tachyonian cellular supremacy? Why didn’t you move to change the system!?”

”It’s beyond what an individual can do. Do you think a 15-year-old boy can rebel against the system? Even adults can’t do it.”

”If you have a strong will, you can do it. You ran away because you thought it was impossible. You coward.”
