Chapter 103 Life Rescue

Haruto felt strange during his first practical session, but once he got used to it, he learned quickly.
He finished the first stage as planned, passed the final test, and the provisional written exam.
Then, Haruto moved to the second stage.
Today was his first road training.
”Okay, here we go~”
”Thank you for your help!”
The male instructor in his 30s was someone Haruto had met many times before.
Haruto would have preferred a female instructor for more motivation, but there were more male instructors, so it couldn’t be helped.
”Alright, let’s turn left first.”
Haruto stopped at the driving school entrance and sidewalk, then moved onto the road.
”The next signal is a left turn.”
The road training went smoothly like that.
They stopped at a red light on their way back to the driving school.

The signal turned green, and Haruto pressed the accelerator.

The instructor in the passenger seat hit the auxiliary brake.

A car crashed into the pedestrian signal right in front of them.
Something splashed onto the hot engine, and white smoke rose.
”H-hey, you!”
Haruto stopped the car, ignored the instructor’s call, and rushed to the accident vehicle.
The hood was badly damaged, and neither the driver’s nor passenger’s door would open, but the rear door on the driver’s side was open.
”Are you alright!?”
Haruto called out, but only the AI voice replied.
──Accident detected.
──Police and fire services have been notified.
──Please provide additional code.
Haruto got into the car and checked the front seat.
No one was in the passenger seat, but a woman in her 20s was in the driver’s seat.
”Are you alright? Can you hear me?”
Haruto touched her shoulder, spoke, and used his ability.
She had broken ribs, a broken sternum, and liver damage.
(The broken bones can wait, but the liver is critical.)
Haruto quickly used his ability to treat her liver.
At that moment, the instructor called out to Haruto.
”Are you okay~?”
”I’m fine!”
When Haruto looked, the instructor was managing traffic while calling out to him.
Haruto was impressed—it was truly the driving school instructor.
”Code 119″
Haruto said the code he just learned at the driving school.
The AI responded right away.
──Connecting you to the fire department.
’This is the fire department. Are you the driver? Or a helper?’
”Helper!”
’How many people are in the car?’
”One woman in her twenties.”
’Did you try calling out to her?’
”Yes, but she didn’t respond.”
’Do you know the vehicle damage?’
”The front is badly damaged, and the driver’s and passenger’s doors won’t open.”
The firefighter talking to Haruto was heading to the scene and would decide if more help was needed.
The AI helping now is required in all vehicles.
It reports accidents automatically and only works when an accident is detected.
The code Haruto used is only for accidents.
Code 110 and Code 119 are standard,
and other codes for insurance or family can be added.
Whoop-whoop… whoop-whoop…
Ee-oh ee-oh… ee-oh ee-oh…
Hearing the siren, Haruto left the car.
He waved to the ambulance to show the location.
As the instructor was directed to the police,
the rescue team arrived, likely sent after hearing Haruto’s information.
Haruto and the instructor couldn’t do more,
but Haruto stayed to explain the accident to the police.
This was Haruto’s first time saving a life.
