Volume 13 Chapter 252-2 Shirogane Aqua, New Rising Genius Designer
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”But Aqua-sama, isn’t this way too much for a high school festival? Claire might happily strut around in that pervy outfit, but—”
Hmm. Fair point.
For a school festival, that design’s kinda out there. Just like you two said.
”Alright then, how about this?”
I flip the page in my sketchbook and reveal the next crazy idea.
”What’s that?”
”Armor…?”
I nod, smug.
”You know how moms are supposed to be tough, right? When I imagined Kanon protecting her kid like a fierce mama bear, I saw her dressed like a knight in shining armor.”
It looks a bit weird on Kanon, sure—but maybe that’s just my twisted mind.
Oh, and don’t worry—I designed it so the chest plate pops off easily for breastfeeding. Gotta keep it practical.
”Hmm, isn’t armor hard to make? Time’s tight.”
”Budget’s tight too. Making armor on a shoestring? No way.”
Right. Budget. The biggest headache.
Totally forgot about that.
”Plus, if the whole class is walking the runway together, maybe we should do something more… simple?”
”Like Emily said, a fancy fashion show isn’t always best. Something everyone gets might work better.”
True. I got too caught up dreaming of a high-end show.
After hearing them, I scrap the fancy stuff and start fresh.
It’s a school festival—this show needs that unique 2A flavor.
New plan needed.
Kanon and Ayana, who’ve been eavesdropping, flop down beside me, looking worried.
”Hey, Aqua, how about designing date outfits for everyone? Since money’s tight, use personal stuff—tops, skirts, or remix old costumes.”
”Good idea! And keep the theme secret until the big day.”
”Yeah, surprise factor!”
Kokona, nearby, claps loudly.
Uruha and Lisa join the party.
”We gotta figure out the show flow, but it’d be epic if everyone walked with Aqua-kun.”
”I’m in, Kokona-chan.”
”Leave the directing to me—I’m drama club royalty. I’ll make sure it works for all.”
Alright! Let’s roll!
I tear out my sketch page.
Emily reaches out her hand.
Huh? You want this?
No clue what for, but it’s yours if you want it.
”Let’s start with Shintaro’s date clothes…”
”””””””WAIT!!”””””””
Every girl yells at once.
Whoa, what’s the sudden panic!?
”That’s normal clothes, right? Why call them Mayuzumi-kun’s date clothes!?”
”Aqua-sama, showing that will cause chaos!”
”This won’t be a fashion show anymore!”
Really? I just imagined Shintaro on a date with Awashima-san.
Awashima-san might come to the festival, so why not?
When I say that, everyone sighs and clutches their chests in relief.
”Phew… thought Aqua-sama and Mayuzumi-kun were actually dating. Scared me.”
”Yeah, it almost turned into a disaster.”
”Aqua-kun, you’re confusing as heck.”
I grab my pen again. Everyone’s eyeballs glued to my sketchbook.
Hey! Stop staring! Can’t draw with all these eyes on me!
I slam the book shut. “I want to work alone.”
Then I storm to my room with pen in hand.
Wait, why’s Kohina-senpai following?
”A chaperone’s needed, right?”
But she’s an outsider!
When I glare, Kokona sneaks up behind her.
”Hey Aqua-kun, since money’s tight, can I help? If we’re going over budget or time, I’ll speak up.”
Smart to have Kokona on board. She’s the costume queen.
”Thanks, Kokona.”
”No problem! I’m having fun too.”
Kokona’s pure and cute.
I ruffle her hair, smiling.
”And Kohina-senpai, thanks for worrying.”
”Hmph, I worry about your classmates, not you.”
Not buying it. You’re worried about me, right?
I pat Kohina-senpai’s head; she swats my hand away.
”Do your best. Emily-chan and I will help 1A—or rather, Kukuri-chan.”
”Huh?”
I froze. Kohina-senpai cracked this grin like she just won the game.
”Look, if we stay like this, 1A’s toast against 2A. Plus, your side’s got BERYL’s crew — three strong, plus Ayana-chan and Kanon-san. You’re like a lone smurf. So, we gotta back Kukuri-chan and her gang. Oh, and I’m spilling all this to 1A too. See ya~.”
Damn it.
I got played.
The two I thought were allies? Total double agents.
Never thought a spy lurked that close.
But hey, I’m weirdly amused — so I smiled back.
”Aqua-kun, we’ll give it our all too!”
”Yeah, for sure!”
I squared my shoulders, schemed up date outfits with Kokona till late.
Next morning at school, Kokona was already there, briefing the squad — but mum on the date outfit part.
”So, I just snap pics of my fave clothes at home and send to Aqua-kun, right?”
”Can I bring old clothes I never wear?”
”Hey, why not bring costumes we don’t use and swap?”
”Sure! I’ve got some cosplay scraps, wanna bring those?”
Our class was buzzing with energy.
During recess, I showed everyone my sketches from last night.
They looked a bit puzzled at first, but with Kokona pitching in, explaining made them hype.
”After school, shopping trip! Aqua-kun, you gotta plan the show with Lisa-chan and Toa.”
”Got it! Leave the show to me!”
Kokona dragged Ayana and crew off to shop.
Where’s Shintaro? Oh, he’s off dealing with the student council — borrowing the sewing machine, booking a classroom for costume storage. Solid dude.
So, me, Lisa, and Toa stayed behind to plot the show.
”Hey, I think everyone wants to walk with Aqua.”
”True, but Aqua-sama spinning around nonstop? That’d drag the show.”
”Yeah, way too long.”
”Alright, then no normal runway.”
”What if we split into groups with different date outfit themes? I go out first, hang out, pose with the next person, then when a group’s done, I change fast and come back again.”
”That way, Aqua-kun isn’t stuck backstage too long.”
”Smart! That keeps the show short.”
”Group themes sound fun.”
We threw around ideas, ironed out details.
And of course, gotta file papers to student council and disciplinary committee to get stage permission.
”I’ll handle that.”
”Thanks, Uruha.”
I handed the documents from Sugita-sensei to Uruha, who just came back from club.
Club activities aren’t getting off easy either.
”Hehe, don’t overwork yourself.”
Uruha pressed her chest to the back of my head and gently massaged my shoulders.
Was she doing that on purpose?
Nah, she’s pure and natural despite appearances — probably just comforting.
”Well then, I’m counting on you all. I’m heading to Sugita-sensei’s house.”
”Huh?”
Sugita-sensei’s house? Wait… that’s a weird choice.
Been there before — casual clothes were scarce. We’d have to dig for date-worthy outfits.
”Come on, Sugita-sensei, let’s go.”
”Uh, wait… it’s kinda messy today…”
Sugita-sensei forgot something?
Oh yeah — I’m the dude who washed all her underwear.
Yep, even that stubborn crotch stain.
Now with the place messy, nothing fazes me.
”Tell them Kokona’ll come back later.”
”Okay.”
I told Toa that, then nudged Sugita-sensei’s embarrassed butt out to the parking lot.
Meanwhile, mysterious woman E chuckled, “Hehe. I’ll take charge and make Claire’s costume.”
Claire sneezed, “Achoo! Wait… did I catch a cold?”
Kanon fretted, “Claire-san, you okay? It’s cold; keep warm.”
Whether there was real chatter or not, that was the vibe.
