Because of what happened recently, the massage club lost a lot of members.
They thought the same thing might happen again if they didn’t do something. So, they asked to stop club activities.
The massage club was not official yet. It only had a temporary okay. Because of that, the club ended quickly.
Now, the people still left in the club were talking about what to do next.
”What does everyone want to do?” someone asked.
”I want to keep going!”
The one who said that was Renka Kokushi, a second-year student in the medical department.
Her family owns a beauty surgery clinic, so she knows a lot about how to make people look better.
Because of that, she could tell something was strange about Haruto’s massage.
”Me too,” another girl said.
That was Mebae Munesawa, also in her second year in the medical department.
She became friends with Renka in the club, and they often worked together.
Renka had told her that Haruto’s massage felt weird, but Mebae didn’t really care.
”I-I also… want to keep going,” another girl said.
This was Yuzuki Kono, a third-year student in the economics department.
When she first joined the massage club, she worried because she was from a different class and a different department.
But soon, the others stopped talking to her in a formal way. After that, she got close to them and started to enjoy the club a lot.
”If we want to keep going… the problem is the place.”
”My apartment is fine, you know?” Yuzuki offered.
”Hmm… yeah, that’s the smartest choice.”
Renka and Mebae lived with their families because they were from the area.
Yuzuki’s place was about twenty minutes away from Akane’s. That meant it took forty minutes to get to Haruto’s place.
”The day depends on the elective classes,” Akane said.
Elective classes are the ones students can choose freely. They are not the same as the required classes each department gives.
For example, English is a required class. But students can choose French, Chinese, or Korean as electives.
Because people choose different electives, the class times are not the same for everyone.
So Haruto asked everyone when they were free. They all agreed to meet on Tuesdays.
After they finished talking about the club, their chat became more relaxed.
Then Renka suddenly said something wild to Haruto.
”By the way, Ichijou-kun… are you even human?”
”Huh? …”
Haruto let out a weird sound without meaning to.
Akane and Yuzuki opened their eyes wide in shock.
Mebae didn’t react at all.
”Your massage is not normal.”
”R-really?”
”Maybe… are you from another world?”
That was far off. But not too far. Haruto’s heart started to race.
”Are there… people from other worlds?”
”I don’t know. But I’ve heard a lot of stories like that,”
”I’m totally human. And I didn’t come from some other world.”
”Yeah… but still, your massage is really strange.”
Haruto remembered something from when he was younger.
Back in middle school, he pretended he knew qigong.
He thought about saying it now but decided not to.
If he tried too hard to explain, they might think he was hiding something.
”Cool! Haruto is from another world!”
”Wow! He’s a wizard!”
Akane and Yuzuki started laughing. They thought it was a joke.
Then Mebae, who had not spoken for a while, looked at Haruto and said something.
”By the way, Ichijou-kun…”
”W-what is it, Munesawa-san?”
”Aren’t you going to stop calling me by my last name?”
Haruto was nervous. He thought she might ask something serious, like Yuzuki would.
But it had nothing to do with that. He felt so relieved. That gave him the courage to speak more.
”Yeah! That’s a good idea! What does everyone think?” he asked.
”I think it’s nice!” Renka said.
”I agree!” said Akane.
”M-me too,” Yuzuki said, smiling.
So, the five of them decided to start calling each other by their first names.
Renka and Mebae would stay friends even after they left college, just like Yuzuki.
But could Haruto keep hiding his secret?
Character Notes:
• Renka – A second-year medical student whose family runs a cosmetic surgery clinic. She has extensive knowledge of aesthetics and is the first to notice the abnormality in Haruto’s massage. She is close friends with Mebae and Yuzuki.
• Mebae – Munesawa Mebae. A second-year medical student and close friend of Renka. She is less interested in the abnormality of Haruto’s massage but is straightforward and assertive, as seen when she asks Haruto to stop using her surname.
• Munesawa-san – Munesawa Mebae. A second-year medical student and close friend of Renka. She is less interested in the abnormality of Haruto’s massage but is straightforward and assertive, as seen when she asks Haruto to stop using her surname.
