Rising-Monk v3c141

Volume 3 Chapter 141 Before Departure

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Linca felt sad about Jibril. When did this happen? He was perfect. He always looked nice and was smart, unlike other boys. He didn’t waste time on stupid things. He only cared about the secret knowledge in the monastery and the big library in Vahid.

When you talked to him, he always smiled and said nice things. If Linca felt sad, he would notice right away and call her to his office. He listened to her stories and gave good advice.

But that was not what Linca really wanted.

It hurt her heart that Jibril stayed calm all the time. But those little stabs of pain disappeared quickly.

Jibril was like a prince that all the girls wanted. Being with him made Linca feel special. She couldn’t complain about anything.

If there were complaints, Linca would just be wrong.

She thought about why Jibril was so attractive and beautiful. Everyone was fooled by his cool and dark charm. Maybe she was fooled too. His beauty was like Black Onyx—so dark that you could not see what was inside. But that made girls even more curious.

She thought, “I will never find happiness.”

A friend sat across from Linca in a shop that sold her favorite tea. The friend smiled and said, “Linca, you don’t care about this stuff, right?”

”I wonder if being with Sir Jibril makes your heart feel clean. Or do all priests feel this way?”

In the busy bazaar, people moved around. Linca looked at the sky and saw a big insect, a dragonfly, flying. This was because of Sir Jibril’s work, showing the future of Azrael.

At that moment, Linca woke up to reality.

She looked at her nails. They were pretty, but not for her. They were for Jibril. She wanted to look good next to him, so she made sure to keep them nice.

”Is it okay to stay like this?” she thought. Doubts poked at her heart like a knife.

”If I keep this up, I will get old and fade away. Right now, I am with Sir Jibril, but what will happen later?”

She couldn’t join the harem. Her parents were giving up on her too.

Even so, she thought it was enough just to be Jibril’s right hand.

He needed her. That should have been enough.

Being part of Jibril’s group was the best thing ever. It should have been.

”I will go to Franz now.”

The crowd was loud, so Linca’s voice got lost. But her old friend heard her.

 ”Izerland? Châtillon?” her friend asked.

 ”No. It’s Nordende,” Linca replied.

”I see. It will be lonely.”

Her friend didn’t ask why she was going there. She had a nice life now with her serious husband and cute kids. It was a happy family in Azrael.

Linca was only meeting her because she came back after a long time. They weren’t really involved anymore. Some people wondered if they were friends, but Linca liked it this way.

They lived their own lives and didn’t bother each other, only talking about small things.

After leaving the tea shop, Linca walked through a narrow street. The sun was setting, and she blended into the crowd, going towards the port.

Linca opened her favorite parasol and looked up at the blue sky.

”This sky is here because of me and others,” she thought. “Without us, it wouldn’t be this beautiful.”

A feeling of purpose filled her heart.

She could still fight. As long as this sky was there, she would fight for Sir Jibril.

With this noble goal, she turned away from the sweet, easy life.

 ”Mmm—”

The sound of water splashing filled the dark morning. Linca slowly came back to reality from her daydream.

She placed her soft fingers on the edge of a round bathtub made of mudstone. She leaned a bit forward. Her back was a bit round, perfect for having kids. Her chin was up as she looked at the horizon. Her long black hair was wet, and a soft cloth draped over her shoulders.
