Volume 13 Chapter 258-4 Shirogane Aqua, Adults And Children

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

To make this play a success, many adults have quietly supported us behind the scenes.

Kaede guided us through the announcements, while Announcer Onidzuka helped film the announcement scenes. Director Hongou, Moja-san, and Nobu-san worked tirelessly behind the cameras, handling the computers and sound equipment. Ako-san even lent us her studio for filming, and Emily mentioned that Kotono and Shitori-onee-chan helped too, doing everything they could for my sake.

”Of course, there will be times when we disappoint you. When rumors prove true. But even then, please, please!! Believe in Oto-san and everyone who’s suffered from those lies!”

Pathetic, I know. But it’s all I can do—plead with sincerity.

Frankly, the world doesn’t work like that.

For any company, when rumors spread, it’s standard procedure to distance itself for self-preservation. So even if I beg, I know nothing will change for Oto-san.

Still, if I can gain even just one ally for Oto-san, I’ll take it. Even if it’s just two people—one person—I’ll be satisfied.

I bowed my head, then felt Lisa step up behind me. One by one, the club members followed, stepping forward in solidarity.

 ”Please, from me too!”

 ”Please!”

 ”Please, we beg you!”

I swallowed hard. Every face, every plea—thank you.

As we all knelt together, someone in the crowd began to clap.

One clap. Then another. Slowly, the sound grew, swelling in the quiet hall.

 ”As a classmate, I believe in Oto-san!”

”Oto-san, don’t give in to the rumors!”

”I believe too! Oto-san, keep acting!”

It was the classmates from 1A. They were the first to start clapping. Seeing this, tears welled up in Oto-san’s eyes.

”Oto-san, don’t give up. We’re here for you!!”

”Don’t let the bad adults win! Hang in there, Oto-san!!”

”I’m an adult, too. But there are adults who are watching you!!”

 ”I believe in you, Oto-san!”

We waited for Oto-san to regain composure. Once the tears stopped, we stood, hands joined together, and bowed towards the audience.

For now, all we could do was wait. But I had hope that, maybe, this moment would tip the scale just enough to change things for Oto-san.

Wait—where did Emily go? She had been so crucial.

 I’ll thank her properly later.

As I walked backstage, lost in thought, something small clattered to the floor in front of me. I looked down. A screw. Where had that come from!?

I glanced upward, my eyes catching the glint of the spotlight. It seemed like someone was working on the lights. Maybe it was a malfunction.

I picked up the screw without skipping a beat, slipping backstage to find the source of the distraction.
